Great matchup in the 8th. Without Wade many didn't think Shelby Co would win...I was one of those too.

Hester was not himself. Hester at full strength changes the whole game. He's taking it a little easy on his foot, but with time he'll be fine.

I'd say he isn't 75%. Number 24 did a decent job of guarding him tonight, but he doesn't know what he is going to deal with once Mike is 100% in the region.

Please don't give the Hester excuse. I went to this game and Shelby held Simon Kenton in check all night. Hester found out that last year's regional final was no fluke and that Shelby has the players that can guard him man to man. "Hester wasn't himself" ? Hester couldn't get by the kid that was guarding him that is why he wasn't himself. Simon Kenton got killed on the boards and they couldn't keep Shelby from driving past them off the dribble. Even without Wade in the paint to challenge shots Shelby showed that they are still the team to beat in the 8th region. Shelby had a great game plan that didn't allow Hester to get much accomplished, 3 points, that had more to do with defense and less to do with Hester. Don't make excuses, Shelby beat Simon Kenton. I will refer to some of the posts I made earlier this season in regards to Simon and Shelby. "Shelby has athletes and Simon struggles with athletic teams." Good win for Shelby! Don't give excuses if you are Pioneer fans just hope Steiner can find a way to beat Shelby in early March.

WOW!! You honestly think that someone coming off surgery to their ankle, who had a cast on his leg just last week would really be 100%? I agree, Shelby won, Steiner was out coached, but to say Hester wasn't himself because the kid guarding him? I also agree that Shelby controlled the paint because Josh Hurd let Chambers push him around and didn't get physical back. But even with that, when Hurd got the ball and was strong with it there was nothing Shelby could do to stop him except hope he missed the baby hook shot. SK has beaten a team more athletic than Shelby and played a lot of teams close that are more athletic than Shelby, they did struggle tonight but not because they weren't as athletic.

Wade not being there makes it easier for the staff and players. No Drama, no, no more drama! Nice win shelby but do not rest!

No excuse because he's healthy enough to play but if you think Hester will average two points a game (his totals for his first two games back your are dreaming) I agree, Shelby had a great defensive gameplan, they doubled Hurd in the post and you are correct, SK couldn't guard them going to the hole. I thought Shelby would run away once they got the double digit lead in the 3rd quarter but SK would cut it to three or four and then Shelby would put it back to 7 or 8. Very impressed with #31's game, what's his name, I couldn't hear it on the PA, he's long and elevates well on those jumpers. If the two meet again it could go either way, at this point Shelby is better but not by much. BTW, that is one heck of a journey for a regional game, I used to dread driving over to Campbell but 170 miles round trip tonight.

I agree on both these!:thumb: He was very good at creating his own shot, even if he had to alter it because of the defense.

Would love to see Gallatin play Simon Kenton, maybe this will be a match up in Region play!

I would love to see a GC/Gallatin matchup also.

I heard Gallatin tried to schedule SK this year but SK's schedule wouldn't allow it.

SK has got to find somebody who can shoot outside to take some pressure off of Hurd. Maybe give Barnes or Slavey a look? They hit some big shots in the offensive woe game against Dixie. Not having Zach Layne in the game tonight didn't help their out of paint presence either.

What happen to Wade????

Thanks for pointing out the absence of Layne, I can't believe I didn't notice that. The wife kept saying, "Are they missing a player?", and I said no, guess she is always right. I think another inside scorer would help Hurd against a team like Shelby. I think Kohrs had one bucket but he needs some help in the paint. It goes both ways, good play in the middle usually leads to open shots on the perimeter and vice versa. I think the X factor will have to be Elbert, he has all the tools, if Hester is healthy he has enough time to be fully ready by regionals, the trio of Hester, Hurd and Elbert can take them deep.
