Great News I get to come to the Ray Correll Bowl! Granted, I have to miss College Algebra. I get to come home and watch my former team in action! I'm so excited :dancingpa On the unfortunate side, I will barely be making it for the kickoff of Somersets game and won't get to come tailgate and catch up with some old friends (jumper1) and meet some of the BGPers in attendance. :cry:

That was a pretty good preview. A lot of great players in the state this year. Mr Football is a toss-up. However, I think a player within a big name program will win.

Old Timer! Just kidding Jumper1, I would like to know as well about the score and stats. This should be interesting, could be a possible regional championship match!

Unfortunately I won't be taking in any great KY HS football. It'll be some local Statesboro action.

Somerset had about 5 kids get it during the 06 summer and they pulled the carpet out of the locker room and replaced it.

Those are some pretty big words, saying that an unexperienced and unproven QB will have a field day against an experienced group of Jumpers.

Hall isn't worried about filling the shoes of Deaton, he will just go out there and play his game. He won't try to be Deaton. Keemo, I don't doubt that SW won't be a good team, but losing 18 seniors and having to fill all those spots is not easy.

What has Muse done to prove himself as an efficient QB and be able to make the plays that good QBs make? As far as PC goes, they have had a few down years lately, and expectations have been low for them but still I think the pressure is on them to win this game! Last time they played Somerset, we came out the second half and dominated. Their are some kids on that team that still remember that and will want revenge. It seems that all they care about is beating the City school and that they aren't worried about contending for a district title? Sure, Somerset likes to beat the county schools but as our recent history shows, we aren't all about that.

Yes, Coomer is #8 and he is a nice reciever to have across from Cole, Good size and strength with hands.

In the past, PCs one big thing has been their lack of discipline. Thats just my opinion from playing against them and knowing some of them. I think Somerset needs to open the game by spreading the field and throwing the ball. That will tell if PCs secondary can handle Somersets deep recieving corps. If they slow Cole down (doubtful) they will have to worry aobut all the others, if they play normal d, without doubling Cole, then look for the other recievers to have a big game.

Somerset isn't really a tall team. Megargel and Coomer are the teams two tallest players. Let me rephrase that he is around 6'4.

Everyone was hit hard by graduation but I agree with Kemo, its all about how you reload.. Somerset brings back one of their best recieving corps they have had in awhile with Cole, Coomer, Megargel and others. Hughes who carried the backfield load last year is back. The line although was basically cleared out by graduation will not be hurt. IMO they bring back the most complete group... I know SW lost A LOT! Jones, Smart, Hampton, Walters, Gibson... I mean the list goes on and on but I know they don't have trouble finding kids to fill spots.. so I guess the Ray Correll Bowl will be an evaluation period for all teams.

Yes, he was the starting catcher for the baseball team.

Megargel is #11 and he is a senior, he is a big kid (6'4 or 6'5 220 lbs) and he does play with a great motor.

Glad to see some of the one year players doing good. How was the line play, I heard there are some holes that need filled, the guards? How did hughes shoulder hold up? The D-Line, who started and how'd they play?

Somerset has proven themselves as a playoff team the last 2 years. I see them as a number 5 to start the year and i'm trying not to be biased. Granted Deaton is gone and there are a few question marks to be answered. They will have their act together and Somerset will be a contender.

Whoa Whoa Whoa... Mercer scored 2 times on us last year in the scrimmage and they we're both on bogus plays. Secondly, any team is going to be rusty during their first scrimmage, it don't matter if you have played together for 2 years or 2 weeks. Practicing all summer together is different than finally playing at a live level against another team. Third of all, John Cole didn't participate in this scrimmage and we all know that he was a viable part of our offense.

He faced that every game in the district and playoffs.

Somersets district might not have any?

Teams tried to play a bracket coverage against Cole last year and it still wasn't very successful. If you force the QB to scramble, Cole will come back to the QB and try to get open. If they want to try and play a taller corner, you better hope he can jump. Cole was able to out jump the taller Macon last year during the game against Danville on more than one occasion. Good luck to all who "try" and cover Cole this year.
