EKUAlum05
Which district(s) are the weakest in each class, and which is the overall weakest district in the state in your opinion? 1A District 6 is my clear pick. Only one team had a winning record last season and that was Williamsburg who in turn is set to have a major rebuilding year this season. Your top two teams are Lynn Camp and Campbellsville who went a combined 5-15 while missing the playoffs. 2A District 5 is the easy choice here as none of the 4 teams (Desales, Christian Academy of Louisville, Carroll County, and Owen County) made the playoffs last season, additionally no team had a winning record as Desales finished 5-5, the rest finished below .500. 3A Once again, no contest, District 4 takes the cake. Spencer County, who has only been playing football a handful of years was the only team in this district to finish above .500 and make the playoffs. Other teams include Henry County (3-7), Western Hills (3-7), and North Oldham (0-10). 4A Finally a competition as we pit District 5 [Franklin County (9-3),Harrison County (5-6), Bourbon County (0-10), and Pendleton County (3-7)] against District 8 [ Boyd County (4-7),Lawrence County (2-8), Greenup County (3-7), and Rowan County (2-8)]. Okay I lied,,, it's no competition as District 8 is the weakest,, but honorable mention is deserved for the district who features the worst team in the state last year IMO (Bourbon). 5A Easy choice again, District 8. Although Clay County finished 7-4 and will be a stat producing machine... when your other teams feature Whitley County (2-8)North laurel (3-7), Letcher Central (5-5) and Perry Central (1-9), and you play in the state's toughest class, you are an easy pick. 6A Room for debate here, honestly. District 1 vs. District 2. D-1 has Henderson County, Apollo, Marshall County, Graves County, madisonville, and Daviess County. D-2 is Meade County, Central Hardin, Nelson County, North Hardin, and Greenwood. Needless to say neither district is close to being considered "weak" when compared to those from other classes, in fact these are pretty solid districts, but in the scheme of 6A we must decide. District 1 will produce 4 quality layoff teams as will District 2, but I will take District 2 as the weakest. Now for the real debate... Pound for Pound the weakest district. Your finalists are: 4A District 8, featuring no team with a winning record last season,,, in fact your best record is 4-7! 3A District 4...I honestly can't remember any of these teams winning a playoff game 2A District 5, no winning record, not even a single playoff team last season. 1A District 6, your projected top two teams won 25% of their games last season. 1AD6 is safe, as the top team Lynn Camp is excused for their poor performance because their star TB played most of the year injured. 4AD8 is horrible, but that district would dominate the others if this debate was played on a field. So 3A D4 vs. 2A D5... this is in my opinion a tie as although 2A D5 boasts a team which has had playoff success (Desales), 3A D4 boasts a team which actually saw the playoffs last year (Spencer County).. but I honestly can't see a weaker collection of teams so your winner, er loser, is 3A District 4! coachwife
2a d5 is a district that has two new teams moving from 1a ball. Carroll and Owen both coming from what seemed to be one of the toughest districts in 1a with both danville, and frankfort. And if it had not been for the Mercer merger Harrodsburg. Carroll has been in the playoffs @ least the last 5 years, having to play Bardstown 2 of those years. Not the greatest district but not sure if the worst if you take a deeper look. Re-visit after the season!
Sun Tzu
4A District 8 will not be the weakest district in 2007. All four teams will place decent numbers on the board this season against non-district opponents.

westsider
District 1 in Class 4A is one of the weakest ... Calloway County has had some fine teams in the past, especially in the late 1990s, but not in recent years. The Lakers do seem to be on an upswing. Lone Oak has had something like three or four .500 or better seasons in the last 20 years. Jack Haskins has made the program competitive, and there are some expectations this year, but this is historically a down program. Hopkins Central has been mediocre over the years and is currently in a down cycle. Muhlenberg North nearly dropped football two or three years ago and hasn't won a game since 2004. They have a 26-game losing streak, could go winless again ... and is still guaranteed a playoff spot. Yeah, I just love six classes.

That is pretty weak, but it seems like there would be some potential for all of those programs to improve. Calloway County and Hopkins Central are both pretty good size schools who should be competitive. Lone Oak has never been much, but Tilghman and Heath usually field good teams...why can't the Purple Flash? And North has never been good, basketball being the main reason, but that's a nice sized school as well. I'm not a six class fan either, but perhaps the programs at all four of these schools will show marked improvement in this system, something they were incapable of in previous years.
