  1. That's because LCA has good athletes. Look at the baseball team. The basketball team has done well in the All-A classic winning the region a few times. I'm not sayin that Rains is horrible, but that with a great amount of talented, he has done less than expected. He is average.
  2. Very true, which is probably why they agreed to it.
  3. So why would they, as you say, play other D-II and NAIA schools? Why wouldn't they get squat for playing Georgetown, a national power in NAIA? Are they not better than the NAIA schools they already play? Guess EKU and WKU look for the worst or most mediocre D-II and NAIA schools they can poss. find. How do you know how much they get for the game? How do you know Georgetown won't pay out that money to play them? I thought the higher classified schools paid the lower ones for the match-up. Oregon St. paid EKU to come to Oregon and play them.
  4. Very good REGULAR SEASON teams. He never made it to a regional championship game until LCA '05. The team that had Parks and Jenkins at Central should've at least made it that far. They were fast and very good. Check on it.
  5. But hasn't Trinity done this recently and won the last what, 6 out of 7 or 8 state championships. The qb position at Trinity is not to be taken for granted, but they do an outstanding job with first year starters, probably the best in the country. Petrino came from behind because Beaumont was Male's bread and butter against top teams, and he had to play both ways. Petrino got to rest on D along with the rest of his offense. Stein will do fine in replacing Petrino, maybe even win state. Think he may be faster. Will the guy replacing Beaumont be at least all district?
  6. Wow! EKU has played UK, WKU has played UGA and Kansas St.. Guess what, they are ducking Georgetown college. Are you serious?
  7. He was Mr.Football/ Mr.Everything at Male. I think them losing him will hurt more than Trinity losing Petrino, though he was a great leader.
  8. If JC lost those backers that they had last year to graduation, they might have a long night against this year's BSHS team. Combs is an absolute beast in the backfield.
  9. Nobody said that you have to have a Mr. football candidate to win a state title. I simply said that the Boyle team that YOU, and primarily YOU, are comparing Mercer to had two Mr. Football winners at some point on that team and a third that could've easily won it. Mercer had a small 4A/ largest 3A enrollment. Mercer had something happen just at the right time in their favor for a state championship. You want them to have that confience, because you as the fan want more titles for your team.
  10. Didn't Male lose Beaumont?
  11. This is awful. Your saying that a Mercer team, with no mr. football even mentioned is or should be on the same confidence level as the Boyle team who was undermanned for the class that they moved up to. Lets not forget that your beloved Mercer team barely (and taking nothing away from Russell) won the 2A title with a (last year) 4A roster, an indoor practice facility, and the one thing that makes people on preps mad, TALENTED TRANSFERS. Plus Mercer was one-dimensional. I'll promise you that won't work in 5A.
  12. You are correct. we can count them in. Great post! :thumb:
  13. They don't have the same confidence that Boyle had, nor the same type players, so don't make that comparison. Even after the fact they merged with another school filled with talented skill players. Will their schedule show that they feel they can play at any level? Will they play 6A or out of state opponents like Boyle?
  14. I didn't say anything about Mercer replacing it's talented departures. What I said was, "5A is diff. than 2A and that it's a great chance to prove that for 5A they are the "real deal". Those teams you've listed, some have gotten alot better, some have gotten worse.
  15. 108 and feeling great.
  16. I think Lou. Central may win the 3A title this year.
  17. Those were quality opponents, in 2A. I wouldn't give last year's Boyle team that much credit at the because that program was still trying to find its new identity. 5A football you will find, is very different. Quite a few of these teams are not only ranked high in their class, like in 2A, but statewide also. This would be a great chance for Mercer to prove they are the real deal.
  18. Because not only has he underachieved with quite a few teams, but he doesn't take the responsibility for doing so. Examples: MC-'96, '99, '00, '02, LCA-'04 AND '05. His teams never really get better as the season goes and he never really seems to adjust during a game. Things may chnge soon because of the coaches on his current staff being former head coaches and having more success than he.
  19. shawne lewis. forgot about him too. beastly
  20. Awesome homeside stadium. What an advantage with the home crowd seating. how long are the homeside bleachers?
  21. yep. sorry, don't feel likewise about the post. :dancingpa
  22. Is it necessary for a coach to have in order to be considered a viable coach?
  23. Maybe not in 5yrs., but always watching with a close eye. A very likely finals opponent right across town, I would set up cameras all over the place on shelbyville. Heck, might do it anyways! jk! That's like Lexington used to be when it wasn't all one district. BS owned Lex. for much of the early 90's and was in a seperated dis. from Pld, but PLD knew it could easily meet BS and/or HClay in the playoffs, so they were also scouted.
  24. LCA-one of the best coaches in the state? WOW!
