Discipline is a good thing. -
Size/strength or speed, which is more important?
Noble replied to Justafan2's topic in KY Football (High School)
I think there a difference between speed and quickness. Speed is how fast you can run at top speed, quickness is how fast you can get to top speed. I saw stronger DL/OL players beat this year because the opposing line was quicker off the snap of the ball. A line player does not necessarily have to be fast but I think they need to be quick and then the strength factor kicks in. You could be strong as ox but if you are constantly beat at the snap of the ball you are going to be out of position .Of course that also depends on the top of offense you run, if you pull guards and tackles a lot you are going to want them to be fast. Your better backs tend to get to full speed in 2 steps or less, where as your power backs tend to be stronger and harder to bring down. I would say quickness, speed and then strength. Technique (as well as execution) can overcome strength and some speed but in the end usually the fastest teams tend to win, hence why the mountain teams have such a hard time with teams from the north. -

Congrats to Williamsburg. -

They thought that this year too. -
I was hoping Corbin would make it to the dance. :( It's going to be hard for South Eastern KY teams to match up with the athletes that the Private and Northern schools have every year. It'll take a special groups of players to finally beat those schools. However, congrats to Corbin on a great year! You all went beyond expectations!!

Good feeder programs, a much larger selection of players to choose from, dedication to the program and MONEY. -

I think Hazard is going to give them a tougher game then you expect. Last time they met Hazard was not playing very well. I think the game could go either way this Friday night. -

Congrats to LCA and Congrats to Raceland on a great season that came up short. LCA's offense can score points in a bunch in no time at all. Lynn Camp and Williamsburg learned that the two previous weeks. For any of our teams to win the Region it's going to have to go through LCA. Good luck to you all next year and good luck to LCA the rest of the year. -
Did Raceland not have school today?

Actually several 1A schools whipped up on some bigger schools. However I do agree with you, 1A schools with rosters that big have an unfair advatange over other 1A schools, but that's the way it goes. Good Luck to both teams but I a think Corbin wins this one. It's be close though. 1 TD.

LCA has a few personal fouls as well. Williamsburg plays physical football and I think perhaps some of the refs forgot that football is a collision sport. The QB for Williamsburg laid a monster hit on one of LCA players, that should be a pretty good indication of how physical a football team they are.

Too many injuries on defense for the Jackets in this one. GL to LCA.

I love a football team that plays with heart!

If Harlan beats Pikeville and goes to Region finals, they're gonna be some teams over in the other Region with Districts 5 & 6 that are going to be really upset. With that said I wish Harlan good luck and hope Coach Donahue can pull it off.
