  1. Thanks, I must have been thinking about Ryan's brother.
  2. 22/41 329 Passing Yards with 4 TDs and 2 EPs. He also had a Rushing TD and EP. Dusty Brown had 5 Catches for 112 yards and 2 Tds and a 80 yard ish Kick off return for a TD Petit had 9 Catches for 109 yards a TD and 2 EPs
  3. I do believe LCA is on a mission after after losing to Hazard last year in the playoffs.
  4. Williamsburg played their butts of in this game. The depth of South Laurel helped late in the game.
  5. If he was not close then why do some people seem bothered by it? "A man toting an assault rifle was among a dozen protesters carrying weapons while demonstrating outside President Obama's speech to veterans on Monday, but no laws were broken. It was the second instance in recent days in which weapons have been seen near presidential events" Outside sounds close to me.
  6. Bill Maher comes across as the type of fellow who thinks his stuff smells like roses. I don't much care for him. Glenn Beck is about as real as a blonde in Hollywood. Jon Stewart is funny, although most of his humor comes from just stating the obvious about our government. Most right wingers do not like JS because he ripped on Bush for so long but had no problem when he was ripping on Clinton and Gore. He has always ripped on whoever needed it and has done so on Obama and the others (The New Administration seem to have a sense of humor at least). Most ultra conservatives and Ultra liberals have no sense of humor when it comes to them. Those in the middle seem to be the most open minded to humor. The right wingers and left wingers tend to be hypocrits. George Carlin was funny but he was a bit self righteous at times.
  7. I wonder what would have happened if someone had showed up to a GWB event with a rifle? I wonder.
  8. Your weight loss program does not compare to a school. A school gets assigned a score on a test (and schools are judged by this score by the government who funds the said school). All students must perform at a certain level or the school will be labeled poorly. This does not take into account the fact that some students in that school have done very well and have gone on to be successful. In the paper and to the state, the school is still failing and thus looses funding or is labeled poorly etc. The weight loss program some people will not do well because they are going off the diet. They know this and most of them will realize it is there fault they did not follow the diet. It's their fault. Some will be successful and say that it was a good program. People go on diets because they choose to. Kids go to school because they have to. There is a big difference there. If you have not taught, you have no idea what you are talking about. Please read my previous post to see the root of many of the problem with education.
  9. If you are a new teacher and you refuse to coach, you are not going to have a job very long. The schools will find someone who is willing to do it. Shessh.
  10. This is going to be long so be patient with me. I received my Masters while working full time as a teacher and coaching full time. I took classes at night, I took classes on weekends and I took classes during the summer. I hardly had any time at all for my family except during the summer for the two years I was working on my Masters. I have to ask. Are you a teacher? have you ever taught? Do you realize that the work day for most teachers does not end at 3. Many coach and depending on the level you coach at, that could be anywhere from 2 to 5 hours. That also does not include grading and lesson planning. The planning period that teachers get is not near enough time to prepare and add the fact that many teachers do not always get their planning period for various reasons and you have more time crunches. Add classes and Masters work and you see why many teachers burn out. I have taught for many years and I have never had a full summer break. I have a always been involved in coaching, summer school or my own schooling for the entire time I have taught. There are many more teachers who do the same. I think perhaps if you have not taught you might want to try and see what it is like. It is one of the most mentally and emotionally exhausting jobs that you can have. It is often thankless and unappreciated and teachers in our culture are viewed by many people as the bad guys because we are authority figures. There are many reasons many other countries students do better. For one their students are taught to respect teachers and to treat them accordingly. Here in the U.S. we use to have that many years ago but many parents today worship their children and do not raise them to be young adults but self entitled adolescences who think everything should be given to them. Second we spend millions of dollars educating students to go to college who have no desire to go to college ever. Thirdly, we spend countless millions on special education and neglect our gifted and talented. Fourthly, we have taken the accountability off the students and put it squarely on the teachers. Their is very little fear of consequences to a child if they do not perform. It is not the teachers who do not want to hold under performing children back, it is the government with all their special legislation. Fifthly, Consolidation has killed the school. Big school with thousands of students have mired our education systems. Classes with student numbers reaching 35 and higher is counter productive to a learning environment in public schools. There is a reason that small schools score higher on almost all test in this country and that is because the classroom size is much smaller. There is a reason kids did better 50 years ago and that is because most of them went to small schools where they were a student and not a number. If you want education to better in this country, consolidation must be stopped. However many of you would be against that because it would set back athletics for the bigger schools now. Which is more important? However with that being said, I am not against the year round system. it would not bother me at all, I would appreciate the extra breaks. What I wanted to point out to you was that trying to blame the education systems problem on the calendar is absurd. There are many more issues that have caused the current problem and I wanted to point a few of those out. Changing the school calender will not fix anything. All it does is change the days you go to school. You want to fix the education system start with the true problems I mentioned above and the prevailing anti-teaching attitudes in this culture.
  11. I would say McCreary is in the border of Eastern KY.
  12. Looks like Corbin improved as the season went on.
  13. Poor McCreary and their obession with the Williamsburg.
  14. Basketball will always be king in Laurel County. Until football gets as much respect in that county the football programs there will always be mediocre at best.
  15. Williamsburg will always have calls go against them until the refs are afraid that the WHS coach can get them fired.... but that being said, if you make your shots and play defense the refs should not be able to determine the game. Glad to see Williamsburg is improving.
  16. THis hiring and firing of coaches this quick is insane. It doesn't work long term anywhere. Sometimes short term it might produce something but it never last long term.
  17. There are many coaches at smaller schools who work for free. Many of them are really good coaches as well.
  18. I would think it would be very similar and with the receivers he has at his disposal it should be exciting. I expect some high scoring if he has time to work with them.
  19. It'll be fun to see what kind of offense Rains will run with these boys.
  20. I think most players play the game for the love of the game. If they are playing for a ring they are not playing for the right reasons. If I could have gone to a school, not gotten any play time and got a ring or gone to a different school and gotten play time and no ring. I would go with the play time. I played the game to actually get to play not for jewelry won by others. If all kids just played for a ring then there would be a loss less players out there. Only a select few every year get the privilege of playing for a state championship.
