I wouldn't jump the gun just yet. This is a HUGE win for Raceland BUT I wouldn't even mention Beechwood yet. They will still have to get by LCA again, not to mention the possibility of playing Hazard, Beechwood, Bellevue, and Frankfort. Again, I will say this is a HUGE win for Raceland, maybe the biggest regular season win ever because of what it could mean later in the season and playoffs, but there is still a long way to go before even thinking about the carpet. Congrats to the Rams!! Way to represent our area!! Who says eastern KY can't compete with Lexington?

It is something that officials do when the wideout lines up. He will usually ask the LJ or the LSMN if he is ok or he will inform them that he is off the line. It is something that the official needs to know so that he/she can signal to the referee if they are off the line. It is a common understanding in football that benefits both official and player. They are not "supposed" to point at their leg. It's not the officials job to line the kid up, only after he is lined up will most officials inform the player if he is ok.

Is that hear-say? There has to be more to that than this. I know those officials and they've been working the lines for years.

As long as he doesn't simulate the snap and resets for 1 second then no, it's not. You see this often if a TE goes in motion. The wideout will then step up to the line in order to reach the 7 mandatory players on the line. So, to answer your question as described, the answer is no.

What if the Dawgs played St. X, Highlands, and Beechwood? Would you still say that? Each team they've played is very very good.

Are you kidding me? Lawrence has played a tough schedule thus far and Prestonsburg is a very good team. Man, I don't even know what to say to this. Check out their schedule and each school's rankings.

Congrats to the Tomcats!! Big win tonight. Good for Coach Hart. He's a good coach who has been taking some unfair attacks lately. I'm happy that Ashland seems to have things turned around. They will need it come district play. That district is a beast!! Good luck Tomcats! Congrats again!!

I do think they struggled against Wilson but I think they will be okay by the postseason for 1 reason: Gary Morris. He can make a mediocre defense look spectacular. I don't think this D is as good as the '04, '05, or '06 but I think they'll be pretty good by the end of the year. Friday, it looked as though Morris was trying to find some players. He was constantly shuffling players in and out trying to find the right formula. A good quick QB like Wilson can make the 5-2 look really bad and I think he did a really great job of doing just that Friday night. He's a player man, I think he may be the best athlete around. I can't think of anyone better right now. But Morris will find the players he wants and he'll put them in position to make the plays. I've seen alot of coaches in my time and he just may be the best defensive coach I've ever seen at this level. They'll be just fine by the end of the year.

What if #1: He catches the pass before the half What if #2: They score on their opening 2nd half possession What if #3: they score again What if #4: They hold Russell to 0 points in the 2nd half Just to name a few. I didn't even mention the what if he hadn't thrown into triple coverage. That's alot of what if's, IF you ask me. I'm not taking anything away from Boyd, I thought they improved greatly and I think they will have a heckava year but I just think saying that Russell was in jeopardy of losing this game is a stretch. That's just my opinion. Just like you have your opinion that they were in jeopardy. No reason to get hasty because I don't agree with you on this.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the KHSAA, it's the NFHS. This is the normal progression of rule changing. First it starts in the NFL, then the NCAA, and if it's a problem in HS (which it is) then it will trickle down over the next couple years and probably be illegal by 2010.

That's alot of what if's. Risk of losing a game is not a dropped pass before halftime that would have brought them within a score. Sure, it was a big play but to say that Russell was at risk to lose the game from that is a big scretch don't ya think. They were never at risk to lose that game. Boyd did shoot themselves a couple of times but that's part of football. Russell may make some personel qweeks on defense but they won't make any changes. They are going to stick with what they do. They'll just have the kids working harder to do just that.

Unlikely. You usually improve the most from Week 1 to Week 2. Don't expect them to make another HUGE improvement next week. They'll prob improve more but not like they did from last week. That's just the nature of the beast. They need to find some help for Wilson to beat teams like Russell.

The offense looked great but they have some problems on the defensive side. Looked as though Coach Morris was trying to find some players last night. H was rotating people everywhere, in and out. Knowing Morris, I can bet anything that heis very upset at their performance on defense. It won't take him long to get them where he wants them.

Field position. While Boyd did do well stat wise, Russell never seemed to have to go as far to score. I give Boyd props though, they moved the all well against Russell. They just couldn't stop Russell. Looks as though Boyd improved 10 fold from week 1. Good to see Coach Evans heading them in the right direction. If the Boyd faithful will give him time, he WILL build a good program at Boyd.

Arlis Beach from Ashland signed with the Texans during the spring but I'm not sure of his status righ now. I haven't seen him in a Texans uniform though. Anyone know his status?

Just saw and spoke with Jeremi right before training camp started at a hotel in Louisville. He's a dandy FB and an even better person.

I had heard from a very reliable source at the game that Campbell dominated this game. Is this true or did Ashland hold their own. I'm hoping Ashland makes big strides from last year in which I thought they were better than their record indicated with a very tough schedule. I 'm not sure what they lost but I know there have been issues with Carter. Did he play today? I forgot to ask my friend?

Drew Abrams is returning in the backfield. Adam Bates also got alot of carries an PT last year. Drew however will be the RB returning with the most experience and I look for him to have a big year in the Wing T. He is a VERY strong kid who loves to lift, lift, and lift some more. He was probably the most instrumental player in the success that Russell had this year in the state weightlifting competition.
