  1. Can someone please explain to me why a store would sell 2 1/2 gallons of milk for $3.00 but sell a gallon for $3.49...
  2. Mrs PurpleHaze, Pm me and I will give you the information for the nation's best ENT for Meniere's. This office not only has top rated US physician; but a supporting staff that has done wonders for Meniere's patients...
  3. Traveled to Lexington yesterday through Paris...$2.95/gallon at Thornton's, needless to say I filled up since NKY is at $3.29!
  4. We were over at Conner yesterday and the (I think) back up catcher for NCC was hit by a ball in the temple region, anyone know how she is? The ball was coming in from the outfield in warm ups and she was blindsighted by the hit. Thanks...
  5. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Have been there too, my dad complained for days of indigestion before he went to the hospital with a MI.
  6. I too was a 16 year old out riding with friends around Ft Thomas when we saw the smoke and headed into it's direction. We just drove by slowly and in complete amazement of what was happening. We went to the armory a little while later trying to help out but were turned away because we were young, probably a good idea. I still have trouble being in the basement of the armory without thinking about that terrible night.
  7. To come from 2-25 last year to 15-17 this year is an awesome achievement for these young ladycats. Knew when they were in grade school playing summer ball that they would come into their own and become a great little team. Lots of talent on that team with 99% of it coming back. Watch out 2008!! Just a note of thanks to the girls for making this season so exciting, you earned all the swedish fish you can eat!!! Congrats to Nicholas County, tough opponet all year, good luck Thursday against Harrison, most PCHS will be pulling for their "new" friends at Nicholas County...
  8. What about George? Is he leaving the show also? Not at all what I expected...
  9. If you have ever coached a girls team you would understand.
  10. I have watched these kids give it their all and know that they want to do their best out there. I have supported them in every sport they play. They do take the losses on them and try to learn from them. We spend time taping and reviewing game films for other sports why can’t we take the time to at least look at the stats from previous games to position our fielders for certain hitters? For example, last night’s game, the opposing coach knew who are hitters were and where they tend to hit in the last game and he positioned his team. We beat them bad a couple of weeks ago and last night they were ready for us and took us 4-2. They seemed to hit every hole we had on the field, yet we couldn’t get much past them. As far as pitching goes, yes Scaggs is the basic pitcher we have and she does a great job out there. There are a 3-4 others and I know that 1-2 of them have been to pitching camps in the area. These other girls have seen some JV action but not enough. Some of them have practiced prior to the season but once it began, they maybe get their hands on the ball every once in a while. Prior to the season, they should have been working on their own to get ready but we also should start practicing when the KHSAA allows, not a week before our season begins. With 5 gyms and numerous fields in this area some type of practice should have been started in February with the girls that weren’t in other sports. This has to be the biggest beef I have with the coaching staff and where all this frustration has come from. I never meant for anyone to take this as a bashing of the staff, just wanted an avenue to get suggestions on how to make things happen for the better of the team…
  11. It is my belief that this group of young ladies have made these wins possible, these girls have played together for years, I still believe the program lacks leadership. Believe me I appreciate what Coach Collins does do, have been there to help in anyway possible. I am looking for suggestions to improve the program.
  12. The defense held Brossart to 2 runs for numerous innings and finally in the end the hitters did their jobs at the right time. After the past years this is a major accomplishment for these young ladies and to think we are only going to lose 1 senior for next season, things are looking up...you go girls.
  13. NKU puts on a pretty good camp usually in July. Go to http://www.nku.edu
  14. Holmes hosted the Bulldog Bash at the park in Latonia, I only know it as the old dump off of 43rd street. It also hosts the police impound lot. Very nice park, has 4-5 baseball/softball fields and soccer fields in the back.
  15. I have met Rick Pitino and the big "O" at my previous place of employment...
  16. used to play euchre with George Clooney at NKU in the grill, just before he left for California...
  17. Thanks for posting game schedule, will try to make the 17th with Boone, for now we do not have game scheduled but do need to make up some rainouts...
  18. My daughter's team does not play Ryle, but it is my daughter's one dream to just try and hit off Allen...am going to try and catch a Ryle game just to watch...
  19. RamBackstop8...the reason I started this post was due to the talk of the parents on the sidelines but thanks for the suggestion. These parents have been together for over 4 years watching this debunkle and are tired of these things happening. Should not have waited this long to bring to the limelight but have just felt no recourse. Off the field, the parents in general really like the coach but have just gotten to the point of frustration. LBBC...We agree that player and coach discussion is the way to go, encourage the players to talk with the coach. Players have picked up on attitude from coach, do not feel as comfortable as usual. Will continue to have them pursue that avenue... Thanks to all for your suggestions!!! Nice to have place to discuss these types of issues.
  20. thanks strike3, will talk to AD about checking out game since we haven't had a practice since the beginning of April...
  21. I agree attitude can make a difference, my fear is that the players are picking up on his attitude too...
  22. I need some advice and thought you all could maybe help...our "coach" has not had many practices for the season and does not "coach" the players during the games. He doesn't tell them what they are doing wrong or how to help them get better, instead he just rearranges players without explanation to the players. His statement to the players is that they have been playing the game for 4 years and he should not have to tell them what to do? Mind you this is high school and if the team wins a game it is either pure luck, no strategy at all. My question is how to approach this situation. Should I talk to him, parent to coach or have the players discuss this with him or go above his head? This parent is stressed out over this...help!
  23. My Mother always used to say the same exact thing, God would not give you more than you can handle. Nine years ago we found out that this isn't always true, my nephew was killed in a freaky car accident and I have watched my sister-in-law completely quit living. She and my brother have 2 additional children and she could not go on with raising them. She has turned to alcohol and drugs for comfort, cannot go back to church(due to having his service in our church), blames God in her own way, blames herself, etc...Our church family was there for us, nothing has helped her through this. I completely understand the hopelessness that he will go through and we can only pray for him. There is nothing else you can possibly do but stand by and be there for him when needed and pray.
