  1. What day is this taking place? I have not seen GRC this year but Bracken is playing very well, Mont should take care of Scott, Harrison should have no problem with Mason and Nicholas needs to be on its best to take Brossart. Just IMO.
  2. My heart goes out to you all, prayers sent.
  3. Right there with you oldrambler...
  4. We had a situation this weekend at a tournament that I would like others opinions on. I will try to keep this as short as possible. The opposing team's 1st baseman stood in the baseline path blocking a runner's lead off ability until the pitcher pitched the ball. I understand that our runner cannot take off until the ball is released from the pitcher. She did not move when the runner came back to the base even when there wasn't an opportunity to steal/run and there was no chance of the runner being thrown out either. Our runner was aggravated by this and made gestures about being blocked (which of course I did not think was appropriate) and the ump tried to explain to our runner that the 1st baseman can do this. This seemed to upset the 1st baseman too that our runner would question her and immediately started talking smack to our runner (which I could hear sitting right at 1st base). Here is where I think our coach should of stepped in, which of course did not happen. The ump was still talking to our runner when the next play took off, ball hit to 1st baseman, caught it and turned to tag our runner and happened to tag her in the helmet/head. Our runner jumped up upset about being tagged in the head and the ump's response was he didn't see it, what could he possibly mean, how do you call someone out and not see the tag? Now was this done on purpose by the 1st baseman, don't know for certain but our coach nor the ump did anything to diffuse the situation. The next inning, our 1st baseman, who was the runner this happened too, picked up ground ball and instead of going to the bag, tagged the runner out(probably more aggresive than needed) and this about started a brawl and the ump threw our 1st baseman out of the game. Now this is my question, this is a game and I understand frustrations run high but should of the 1st baseman have been talked to about tagging in the head/helmet? IMO, yes. Should of the coaches diffused this before it turned ugly? Again, IMO, yes. Should the ump have stepped in before it turned ugly? Again, IMO, yes...

  6. My daughter went to both and felt that the team camp did more for her and her team. Although IMO, any camp is a plus.
  7. Something did wake me around 2am, just turned over and went back to sleep. Watching news and just heard about the quake, must have been what made me wake.
  8. There were pretty many errors, not sure what was going on. NDA's shortstop wound up with a busted lip, hope she is doing better today. The JV game was barn burner too, NDA picked it up 7-6. I am just glad PC's bats got hot. Fielding wasn't half bad either.
  9. This actually happened to my family, the priest at our church came for a visit (unexpected) one Sunday afternoon. The next thing I know my dad asked him to leave. The priest decided that my family was not tithing enough for the amount of money we made, I was in grade school when this happened and really have no idea how the priest knew our income level. This was back in the 70's. Needless to say that was the last Sunday in that church...
  10. Well said Beechwoodfan, tee totally agree!!
  11. Nothing felt on the Pendleton/Bracken line...I am about 25 miles northeast of Maysville.
  12. Prayers for comfort to the family and friends of this young man from this bluebird in Pendleton County.
  13. There is a Gattiland in Ashland, our softball team goes there every year when we go down to the Derby Classic. I remember the Mr. Gatti's in Cresent Springs too it was much better than the one in Ashland, or maybe my tastebuds have changed over the years, the kids seem to like it.
  14. As much as I loved playing slow pitch in my time, watching my daughter play fastpitch is much more exciting. I have watched her grow to become a very good hitter and defensive infielder. I have taken her to many camps over the years to help her improve. The commitment from parents/player has to be there in learning the "hitting" (and all other) aspect of fastpitch. Fastpitch is a mental game, not only on the mound but in the batter's box. Have you ever watched a baseball player try to hit off a fastpitch softball? It is definitely not something that you can just walk up and hit. The last camp we went to was put on by Univ of Tenn ex players, talk about knowing how to hit, they helped my daughter immensely on knowing where to put the bat on the different types of pitches. I have already seen improvement in her in just the past 2 games we have had this season.
  15. I have to agree with LBBC on this, I selected Christian for the same reason. I was raised a catholic, saved in a baptist church and attend DOC church for the past 5 or so years. Along with AL, I like to talk with the Jehovah's and other faiths when time permits, I like to hear others points of view on the Lord, think it helps to continue to learn "the way of the Lord". Can't say that I agree on their thinkings, but does make me take a good long look at my beliefs.
  16. AL - prayers to all involved, especially to your wife and son. A special thank you prayer to the good Lord for placing your son in the "right" seat. God Bless!
  17. We also have 3 cats, went to the pound to get a kitten and wound up with a 2 for 1. They are brother/sister(Sylvester and Precious) and of course they offered me both for the price of one in front of my daughter, couldn't say no, they are around 8 yrs old, very laid back. I now have to give Sylvester insulin shots twice a day as he has been diagnosed with diabetes. My daughter came home about a year ago with a kitten that just happened to jump in her car while she was visiting her cousin's gravesight. Another how do you say no when she is standing at the front door with this cute cuddly kitten, his name is Yoda, which we should of named him Pyscho...
  18. Way to go, hard game to watch but you ladies pulled it out! Congrats Lady Norse!! Agreed nice to have local talent bringing home the championship!
  19. Grizzly, Will tell you I worked for a physician that removed them in the office. The worst is the numbing medicine, once that is in should go smoothly, just make sure not to watch!! Good Luck.
  20. I have to admit Collins would make a great head coach. He has coached my daughter for the past 6 years and the girls just love him and he knows basketball...PCHS would miss him!!
  21. "started a middle school team" Boy wouldn't that be nice, every other sport has a middle school team, why not do a middle school fastpitch team. I grew up in a community that had summer leagues, although at that time it was slowpitch, but we couldn't wait till spring to sign up and play. When I moved to PC I signed my daughter up for summer league and just assumed it would be softball, to my surprise it was a co-ed baseball team. The summer recreation in PC tried to put a fastpitch summer league together but it only lasted a couple of years. We have had others in the community try to put together teams for the summer but they just don't seem to draw enough girls. Our high school team has even held clinics trying to get girls interested in playing the game. Maybe if it was a school sponsored sport more girls would come out. The only choice they have now is to tryout for the high school team and as a parent I did not like my daughter practicing with upperclassmen when she was in the 6th grade. I don't feel that there is enough training of the youngsters when the coaches have a varsity team to be concerned with.
