  1. From what I saw across the floor, I thought she may have had a tripod fracture, have seen many of them in my day working for ear nose and throat physicians...I was really hoping she didn't hit the floor with her face, not that an elbow is much better...glad to hear not displaced enough for surgery. Good luck to her and the team in the districts, they play very hard and good..
  2. I would like to thank the Lloyd team, this is the first time I have seen a visiting team take the time to clean up their bench. I also hope that the young girl with a possible broken nose will be fine, she took hard hit. Wasn't sure if she hit the floor or was hit prior to hitting the floor. Started as really tight game until PC pulled their starting 5, not sure what was going on there. For a short time it was a 3pt battle up and down the floor. Thanks to Rachael King for all the years of PC basketball.
  3. I have never had a team to win the Sweet Sixteen, but let me tell you being there is awesome. I got to go with Highlands in 1979 and then to take my daughter with PCHS 2 years ago. It is definitely a memory that lasts a lifetime. Watching my daughter cheer Pendleton on was like watching myself cheering for Highlands. I think it would be awesome to watch the Trains win and get the chance to play at Rupp!!!
  4. I think PC came to the game thinking this would be an easy victory and was almost blown out of the door. Cory Pelle is one of the best players I have ever watched, such a smooth player. More impressed by him then Preston Knowles. Not only great player, seems like great kid. It was nice to see the PC parents/players/fans congratulate him on his performance after the game. The whole Silver Grove team plays very well together, C Pelle maybe the stand out but the others have good talent. Great from the 3pt line. Good luck Trains, see you in the regionals... As for PC, I hope they come to play next week in the districts better then they were last night.
  5. It is Bruce Bowdy, don't forget Rich Dees. Ty Hood wasn't on the varsity team of 79, he was a reserve. The rest of the team consisted of Joe Conley, Steve Ling and Chris Vogel. 79 was the best HHS team ever, what an experience to go to Rupp that year. Good times!!
  6. No I do not want him to model the program after unsuccessful ones, that was not my point. I am just talking about what we are seeing, his style(whether good or bad) has the players dropping like flys. At the rate they are quitting, PC will not have a football program left. I am close to the situation also, and what he wants out of PC he isn't going to get, on or off the field. Liking him on or off the field is to each his own, what I don't like is what is happening to the team with him in charge. Building a new program takes experience and I am not sure that he has enough. I will not question his coaching ability because I am not a football coach, what I am questioning is his ability to lead a new program without causing it to dissappear. As for coverage from the enquirer, I spoke with Ryan Ernst and he told me that in order for them to cover PC regularly, PC needs to join the Northern Kentucky Atheletic Association, is this not possible?
  7. Kelsch has become quite the powerhouse in the middle for PC. She leads this team not only in scoring but as a true leader. She has to be the best "team" player we have seen in a long time, always talking her teammates up and gives 110 at all times. Keep it up Nat!!!
  8. It is my opinion too that PC is going to lose its football program. I think the coaching staff has some good ideas, they just haven't worked with a new program and how to build it. We are not Highlands,Cov Cath or Ryle, there isn't a tradition and you cannot bully these kids into playing football. As many of you already know, I supported the previous coach and thought he had the right stuff for starting up the program. I have seen a letter that he wrote to each individual senior of this years team and believe me he offered to help every one of them move forward, especially Lorenz. Not sure how he hurt him but I don't think it was intentional as with the coaching staff that is there now. Pettit and his family have made several trips to Michigan. If his health holds out, we will see him in the blue and gold in a couple of years! But he isn't the first to wear blue and gold, we already had our first college player at Morehead and I am not sure of Union's colors but our second player to move on is there.
  9. I know for a fact that this family mentioned is making tapes and visiting colleges. I also have heard from the coaching staff that none of the players are DI or DII material. That statement came before the season even started. This is coming from a entire new staff. I am not sure that this type of statement should of been made. These boys were new to the game yes and on top of it had to learn a whole new system. IMO, I don't think you can tell from 2 weeks of practice whether a kid has what it takes. I feel that PC has made themselves an island. We do not belong to Northern Kentucky, so no coverage from there and we do not belong to Central Kentucky again no coverage. Parents and the community need to get involved. I go to meeting after meeting regarding sports in this community and the same 5-10 people are there. We cannot move this county forward with that small amount of people. I have left messages for parents to join in and get no response, yet when their child plays for a team, they (the parents) reap the benefits that the 5-10 parents worked so hard to obtain. If anyone has an idea of how to fix this, please by all means let me know. If the politics at this high school are not to your liking, then join in to create changes...
  10. I have watched Lorenz play for the past 4 years, the boy does know football and I enjoyed watching him. I have seen alot of high school football and this kid knows his stuff. Never seen a kid read a field on defense as good as him. His health condition hit his senior year along with a new coaching staff who knew nothing about the condition. He has been receiving help from previous coaching staff regarding colleges, he is making tapes and sending them along with recommendation from previous coach. If he can recover from his health condition he can go far. He is very athletic and strong
  11. Game was postponed, possibly to play on Monday 2/5, will update as soon as I hear...
  12. I came from the most successful high school program in NKY...I am not sure "his way or the highway" will fly in Pendleton Co, his highway better be the same one they are on. It has to start with the administration too. Not only do we need to embrace the academics, attitude and behavior on the team, it has to be embraced within the entire school system. They need to work together and build this. We had the most disciplined and academically strong football players in our basement every week when I was in school. These guys would use our weights and run around our neighborhood in order to be and have a winning program. Things are a little different when you are in the rural community. I saw a different team in the last 4 games of this season. The seniors took back some of their "traditions" and attitude and behaviors changed. They actually looked like they wanted to be out there.
  13. Maybe not in your eyes, but I am sure if effected the juniors and seniors. It was all they knew...to have that big of a change after what happened was rough on them. Sometimes change needs to happen in smaller steps, we have to remember they are still kids... I really hope that someone, whether that is T or not, builds a great program. I still go watch my high school play when I have a chance and take some of the kids with me.
  14. I am loyal to PCHS sports, want to see this really take off, glad to hear you don't feel I am a hater(not my style). I am not personally bad mouthing T or Carver. I understand that some of them came back out of shape, it happens. I just don't like the fact of taking away traditions that had been started. I know T wants things his way, but the circumstances leading to T being there need to be considered. Mentally these kids were down, no matter who came in to take over.
  15. I really don't know where you picked up hatred. The issue is of concern, not hatred. In my opinion, as I have stated before, these young kids are committed and disciplined, but still very young. Along with the prior confusion for the past year, this is going to take a while. IMO, there is a big difference between committment and teamwork. I never said that there isn't committment by these teams, just the teamwork lacks. Any player can be committed to their team, but for the "I" reason, not the "team" reason. The kids now a days have the temperment that "I" should be the star and do not support other teammates in a positive manner. I am not sure where to put the blame on that. I too myself as a parent question coaches decisions and have been a coach on the receiving end of not playing a child and the parent berating me.
  16. Discipline? IMO, you had a very disciplined group. This program is 5 yrs old. It is not on a level of Highlands, Ryle, Campbell Co, etc. These coaches walked in to a disaster area. These kids were left high and dry over the last year. These coaches were not here to see how the football program was not told by anyone(administration) what to expect. They had just lost a coach that they all admired (without knowing why). To walk in on that and then take away everything they knew? What was started by the initial coach had become tradition to these young men and it was stripped away too. How would you feel at 15-18 years old and your entire future was blown up? Yes attendance dropped, but I do not feel it was because of discipline. It was a stand that they took, it may have hurt them in the long run, but I truly understood when the boys would make statements about not playing anymore. I do not want to make it sound like I am not supporting the coaches/staff. I may not agree with some of their decisions but I will stand behind those kids out there on that field no matter what.
  17. It is the attitude of ME, my child plays sports and I see it all the time. They do not support one another, if someone is having bad game per say, they all get down. They never seem to pull together, yes the basketball team had great talent and won 59 tgames over 2 years, but the grumbling behind the scenes was evident, just ask Elliott... As for discouraging basketball players from football, I have talked to 2 players that this happened too. I also know that Elliott went to basketball "practice" during the summer and then came to football practice in order to keep peace. In all honesty, I will retract no teamwork in all sports at pchs, just the ones I am involved with, and that isn't soccer, so if they have it great then they need to share it...
  18. Last year was the worst for football, coach gone, no leadership, no communication from anyone to anyone. Those few seniors/juniors took themselves to the weight room. Prior to last year, yes the off season was spent in the weight room and of course those would have been your junior/seniors... As always, sports at PCHS seem to always be about how far I can go. There isn't a sport at the high school that knows what teamwork is. Hopefully things can get turned around in all sports.
  19. They have always had solid winters in the weight room prior to Coach Teegarden. When they have a choice to play for a winning program or a "losing"/building program, they will choose the winning. Have seen many go to soccer instead of football for that reason. Some stick with just basketball, prior basketball coach(even though he was a good coach) discouraged his players from going out for football. Middle school program is supposed to start in the fall. Administrative issues between the middle school and the youth league have prevented this in the past. We also seem to have an issue with grades. I would estimate that 50% of the freshman that played youth league proir to this season did not come out or quit due to grades. It didn't help to have as many injuries that we had this year too. Not sure if it was just a black cloud or if there was something in the conditioning that was not addressed? We also saw monitary issues as one of the reasons some kids do not play sports at PCHS. The booster orginization is trying to build to rectify that.
  20. They had 1 in the win column for a forfeit is what I had been told prior to this game...
  21. The "bright" scares me, we have just lost 11 seniors, which took up most of the field for the past 2 years. The O line now consists of 2 players with experience. A very young set of quarterbacks also. And the fact that we need more boys just on the team. It is sad to look at the sideline and only have about 10 of them. Sure hope the weight room gets alot of use from now until next kickoff!!
  22. #75 Smith has feelers out, also smart and talented. #2 Remley looking at Union with McNay. Way to go Seniors, thanks for all your hard work, especially through this tough year...good luck;)
