Any info? updates?

I watched this game. Zach Hurt was unstopable and scored 27. Despite this the Wolves could have competed but they had no success stopping Cordia's inside game. Cordia's players drove down the lane at will, for easy baskets. The Wolfe co. players got one shot at each basket while the Lions got many second chance baskets. Wolves were simply out-played on both ends of the court.

Breathitt played a great game. Their ball handling was a bit tentative at times but they have some height and know how to use this to their advantage. Wolfe is quick (as stated above) and generally shoots well but had trouble making their open shots last night. These two teams are pretty evenly matched and last nights game could have went either way. I'm looking forward to a re-match.

Very physical game. Back and forth till the end. Wolfe had a last second three to tie but missed. Wolfe played well but couldn't hit their threes and breathitt had too much size inside.

It seems sort of strange that Owsley would oppose a transfer of one of theirs when the Evans kid played varsity for Wolfe Co. last year. They seem more than willing to benefit from his play for them! His parents still live in Wolfe Co.

I guess even way back then adults were saying that Kids thought they knew everything, had no manners and showed no respect. We could probably infer that they were also saying that kids had no character, wouldn't stick things out, etc. etc. Sounds like what we're hearing in this thread doesn't it? Kids are kids and haven't changed much through history. We all tend to remember things through the hazy lens of "The good old days". I doubt kids are really all that much different now as then. Some kids quit and some didn't/don't. These same kids took on life, families and jobs. Some were successful and some weren't.

I've seen Owsley play a few times this year and they can be rough. One particular player will go out of his way to antagonize the other team. I've seen him elbow, trip, shove, etc. all after a call or play was over. He crossed the court and elbowed an opponent who was standing at the foul line waiting for his second shot (a sub was coming in for him) as he headed for the bench. He seems to watch carefully and do this when the refs attention is elsewhere.

This could end up being a close game. Wolfe and Buckhorn played a close one last year with Buckhorn winning on their home court. Wolfe returns pretty much the same team and has been playing well. I'll predict Wolfe in a close one.

If they continue to play like this they'll be fortunate to play with the others in their district let alone JBS and Hazard!

Tough, hard fought game. Won with 2 point shot by Wilson with 3 seconds left.

Lee was deadly accurate from 3-point range and several defensive lapses by the Wolves led to some easy baskets for Lee. The Wolves couldn't buy a basket. Lee just flat out played better. A big goal of the Wolves was to contain Charles and they were able to do this. Unfortunately, for the Wolves ,T. Campbell was able to come through with several great 3-point baskets and Drake was able to drive down the open lane for several one-handed gimmes. I'm looking forward to the rematch.

Buckhorn And Hazard should win. Wolfe and Cordia will be a tough match-up. With the overall winner being Jbs. Having said all this I know there could be upsets and I really hope there are. That would make things so much more fun!

1st round winners should be Owsley, Lee, and Cordia. Jbs will defeat Riverside.

I think ranking the 14 region teams accurately this early in the season is somewhat unrealistic. JBS and Hazard no doubt belong at the top. Riverside and probably Leslie are probably at the bottom. The other teams can't be ranked with any real degree of accuracy until more of these teams play one another! Buckhorn, Letcher, Estill, Knott, Cordia, Lee ,Powell, Breathitt and Wolfe seem to be doing pretty well and could Possibly climb higher as the season progresses.

I only got to see the second half. Phelps played well and were shooting great. Owsley seemed somewhat disorganized and their shots wouldn't fall.

I agree. Coach Creech made some great half-time adjustments. Excellent coaching by Creech!

While its true that more fouls were called on Oneida in the second half It's also true that they committed many more! I watched the game and I taped it. I then watched the tape. Oneida got by with numerous fouls in the first half. When Wofe co. started pressing and comming back in the second half Oneida fell apart. They started throwing the ball away, running over wolfe players and committing unnecessary fouls on defense.

Wolves are now 4and1. They lost to pikeville.

Great game. Oneida led by as much as 19 in the second half but the Wolves picked up their defense and pulled it out.

Sloppy at times. Wolfe had a 15 point lead in the second half but Owsley cut it down by playing hard in the final 2 minutes.

I'm not an Elliot fan but when a school from a county of less than 7,000 can compete with a team from a county of greater than 70,000 (i.e. Christian etc.) it's good for the sport. You gotta love that!

Good win for the Wolves. They won despite not playing as well as usual.

Any time a mountain team can beat one of the city schools I'm happy. Even the biggest rival of the team I follow Has my support when they play someone from out of the mountains.
