Agreed. People can say what they want to about Robert Smith, but he has totally turned his game around. Neeley, Smith, and Congelton are the nucleus of this young Owsley team, they play together, and even more so since Smith was added to them. Without him they are a doormat with 2 offensive weapons, with him they become dangerous. Enough said.

Tyson Gross, Rodney Mitchell, Daniel Combs, Preston Simon (Betsy Lane) and Jordan Noble (CORBIN) all play at Alice Lloyd. Combs and Noble redshirted this year, while Mitchell is the first sub off the bench for post play. Gross gets minutes from time to time, and Simon as well.

Agreed. If Owsley plays up to their potential, they will keep it close.

Congrats to Coach Anderson and to the Lawrence Co. squad! I played a pick-up game with these guys before the season started, gotta chance to meet Coach Anderson, classy guy, looks like he's shaking things up like he said he would.

For Owsley to win this one.... well, they better show up to play. Leslie is a big, strong team, but seem to be a little out of control at times. Owsley has to step up to the challenge, they can't come out rattled at Leslie like they did against Lee, be opportunistic and score off Leslie's mistakes. Leslie on the other hand just has to play good ball, cut off Smith's penetration, and force Neeley to take bad shots to come out with the "W". Should be a pretty good game.

Totally off the subject of Lee/Owsley....but since you mentioned it: Robert is a terrific all-around athlete as well as some of the other players on the basketball team who will be taking the field in the spring, but Owsley Co. is a basketball school in a basketball state. They will be remebered for what they do on the hardwood more than what they do on the diamond. JMO.

The 14th is always up because of the amount of small schools. That number has dropped since last year with the creation of Letcher Central, but the tradition of the "All A" is established in the 14th, which is always a very competitive region.

Congrats to Lee. Tremendous win, not what I expected. I really thought that Owsley could step it up and play with them, but it looked like Lee had Owsley running scared all night. Both teams had trouble hitting their shots at the beginning of the first quarter, then Lee got started, and it was 12-3 at the end of the quarter. Lee continued their strong play all game, and Tyler Rich dominated. Robert Smith, being the only senior for Owsley, played his heart out, he is really a class "a" guy. Anyway......... when is district? :fight:

Just stating the facts, though I did leave out the fact that Lee is a better team, they have more offensive weapons. I just think it will be Owsley's night, JMO though.

Big play off the bench won the game against JBS. Maybe not a momentum swing from Lee to Owsley, but Owsley is definitely gaining momentum. Lee and Owsley is the type of rivalry in which the team that wants it more will more than likely come out with the "W", I don't doubt that Lee wants it, they are a tough group of kids. Neeley is a better pure shooter than Brandenburg, plus he feels like he has respect to earn. Lee is that much better than Owsley? You have them picked to win by 4..... sounds like a blowout.

Good Call! Smith is the last remaining player from the 2001 All "A"... he was in 7th grade! He should remember how it feels and be a real big motivator for the young owls.

Wait until after the All "A" is over, then see how things are shaken up. Im predicting that this list will be in constant turmoil the rest of the season.
