Western Hills 10-10 over Oldham County 15-3

Western Hills plays a pretty tough schedule and they are beginning to see the results of a maturing process.

Strongest has to be the 11th, followed by the 7th. Some good teams at the top of the 10th, but IMO not as deep top to bottom as the 11th.

Could someone explain to me when a jump stop is legal and when it is traveling? I seem to see it called both ways. Maybe I am missing something. I am not a yeller, just confused.

I remember climbing the ladder to check into the game at Fleming County.

All "A" doesn't generate a lot of excitement in the 11th Region. There are too many teams that have a legitimate chance to win it all at Rupp. But I say anytime kids have the chance to compete on a level playing field on a state wide basis, it is a good thing. What I am seeing is the same thing in this tournament as with the rest of high school sports. There are some teams who have the luxury to hand pick a less than geographical team.

You have to think Pendleton County would have to stumble not to return to Rupp.

Western Hills took a page out of Kentucky's book and woke up in the second half enough to win the ballgame.

Franklin County 4-1 Woodford County 3-2 Western Hills 2-2 Frankfort High 1-5

One call does not determine the outcome of a game. I can think of several times during the game that I saw kids get fouled or carry the ball or travel on both ends of the floor. Any of these calls could influence the game just as much as whether there was 3.2 seconds or 1 second at the end. The timing of the call magnified it's importance in everyone's mind. I didn't mean to open a can of worms. All I wanted to do was congratulate a group of fine young men on a very entertaining ballgame. I thought Josh Smith played a huge game for Frankfort on the boards and Matt Anderson found a way to score although he was being dogged by Tyler Combess on defense. Very fine performance by all these players. Charles Keene played a big time for Western Hills. Both teams had stellar perfomances from a number of players and this bodes well for the future of both programs. Well played, well coached on both sides.

No real dog in the fight, just love watching high school sports but will say in the 30+ years I have played, coached and watched high school sports, I have never seen a game that I could not have pointed out at least a dozen calls that in my estimation could have changed a game in either direction 6-8 points, a touchdown, or a run or two. Upon reviewing films, however, more times than not the officials were correct and I was not. The back official came immediately to the others with the figure 3.2 seconds. He saw something that caused him to come up with that figure. I will have to disagree with you, Coach and say that Keene shot the ball with 6 seconds. I have seen those officials call many games and think they are pretty good. I don't think any high school officials have a personal agenda. This is not to say there are no bad calls. Again, congratulations to both teams on a classic game!

Exciting game to watch between two vastly improved teams. Hated to see any of these kids lose. Both teams played their hearts out. Good luck to both in the District Tournament.

I would love to see this instituted at all high schools. There is a huge group of kids who would like to play organized ball and love the game and are not on the school team for whatever reason. It would keep these kids active physically and, in many cases, out of trouble while doing a worthwhile activity.

As long as we are talking about pre-3 pointer days, how about Ronnie Lyons from Mason County in the 70's. He could light it up from anywhere.

Look for Mason County to shine between now and March. This is their time of the year.
