Looking at Somersets schedule Pre all "A" and after all "A" I think its the schedule that has to do with their so called all "A" let down this year. Somerset is a tough team to play at at home. Plain and Simple. In fact the only team that has beaten them this year was a very very good Dunbar team in their first game of the year. Somersets record on the road outside of the all A has not been all that impressive before or after the All "A". I am a 12th Region fan and I wish I could say the 12th region is better but this year I cant say that. I base my opinion on this: If McCreary or Lincoln got to choose which regional tournament they would rather play in I beleive they would say the 12th Region. If you ask Knox or Corbin they would probably choose the 12th region also. Barring any major upsets what will the regional tournaments look like? 12th..................................... 13th McCreary............................. Corbin Lincoln................................ Knox Wayne................................ SL Somerset ............................Cumberland West Jessamine.....................Pineville Casey Co..............................NL Boyle Co................................Clay Co Mercer...................................????? Pretty even with a very slight edge to the 13th this year

Because hopefully they will not want to repeat this years failures. And hopefully they have learned that you have to put the time in the gym, and you have to practice hard, prepare hard and play hard. Some kids that were starting earlier in the year are watching from the bench now. So if they want to play next year then they must really improve during the offseason. The Epperson Twins will be in the gym all summer and will vie for starting positions next season. So this junior class will have to elevate their intensity level or they will not play. I think they see the writting on the wall. And I believe they will respond and step it up.

Southwestern is starting to play better. Coach Schulz teams always peak this time of year. Look back at his career and you can see the trend. In 2000 we were probably the worst team in the region at Christmas, but that team ended up winning the district that year. (Somerset, PC, So. Laurel and No. Laurel were the other teams in the district then) While I wouldn't have expected us to lose 20+ games this year I knew it was going to be a long year. That tends to happen when you lose @ 97% of your offense. I respectfully disagree with you on this being a lost season. The experience we have gotten and the lessons we have learned have been invaluable. Because we rely on juniors, a sophomore,a freshman and two 8th graders we have looked at this thing as a two year journey ,not a one year lost season. The good news is that we will return 99.5% of our offense next year. So the future is bright on the southern end of town. I think Somerset will experence this somewhat next year when they lose all those talented seniors. I am not saying they will only win 3 games, but I do think they will pale in comparison from their past years successes.

You are correct, Cumberland will not any calls because they are out of region. Its kind of unfortunate, but when teams go out of region they do not get any calls. I have seen this for the past 12 years. And I have seen it go both ways. In fact I thought McCreary got the benefit of the whistle in their game with Whitley. But I saw Clay 13th region and Russell Co. 4th Region get favorable whistles when we played them this year. I guess it has just become part of the game.

I will bet you that Coach Jones didn't try to have his team hold on to the ball the last 2 minutes to prevent Green Co. from Scoring 100.

I wonder if McCreary has some players out sick? I know they have missed some school. I am sure SSF can fill us in on the details. I have noticed its hard to win when you play on the road out of Region.

Hats off to Licoln who hit 9 of 11 FT's down the stretch to pull away and seal the win.

I was told that they have to deal with these coaches all year and if they make a critical call against a team then the coach will hold a grudge in the future. If they are out of region and make a critical call then they dont have to see that coach again.

Good for Coach Jones to allow his team score 100 points. I would say he personally could have cared a less if they scored a 100 or 92. But it rewarded the McCreary crowd that paid $5.00 to see the game. It sounds like the home crowd got alot of excitment on the way to 100. I personally think there is a big difference between rewarding your crowd and have the crowd "make out your starting lineup" I reality Coach Jones had a choice to make: Please his crowd and tick off Whitley Co. or Please Whitley Co. and tick off his crowd. Its to bad the Whitley Co. coach put him in that predicament by holding the ball the last 2 minutes. Personally I would have had my team play it out and challenged them to "D" up and keep them from scoring a 100. But to each his own. I was there scouting and left at halftime. What I witnessed was Whitley threw the ball all over the gym, and couldn't throw it in the ocean when they did manage to get off a shot. And defensively they played man to man and McCreary had their way with them. I got a chance to see Whitley in a Christmas Tournament and they are a much better team than how they played tonight. I saw this happen a few years ago. Southwestern was playing All Saints , when SW scored their 98th point All Saints held the ball the last 2 minutes of the game, preventing them from scoring a 100. I guess it was some small accomplishment to keep us from hitting the century mark. I know for a fact that the coaching staff and players didn't care, but the fans were a bit disappointed.

Congrats Garrad. When you hold Aumiller to 8 you have accomplished something. IMO he is one of the top 5 players in this region. It should be an interesting rematch in three weeks.

Good win Lincoln. After watching McCreary tonight I would have to disagree with Lincoln being the "Clear Favorite". However, I certainly think they are one of the favorites.

The Raiders had their A game tonight. They totally dominated this game.

I would think that would make them the #3 seed.
