Knox Central 69 South Laurel 65

Featured Replies

Got this from WYMT's website, hope it's accurate. This game was played at South Laurel.

Congrats to the panthers.

Very nice win for the Panthers.

Central led 40-25 at the end of da first half.

Panthers looked awesome first two quarters ... South started pressing in the second half and got as close as two.

Cody Miller is the best player in the region and Chad Messer is the X-Factor.

Central looks to be playing well right now. South played some pretty uninspired basketball the first half, but their press really seemed to upset Knox Central in the second half. It seems Knox had just a big enough lead to hold on and made just enough plays to preserve the win. With the regional held on the Panthers home court and a ton of momentum the Panthers might be staring their first Sweet 16 appearance in the face since 1970. Of course, Dinky Phipps and the Bville Tigers have been known to ruin a few seasons for many a team favored to beat them in the post season. Maybe South will study the film from this game and get a shot at redemption come the regional tournament. I for one will be happy to pay the admission price to watch these two teams lock horns again in a few weeks.

Central is on a roll here lately. Isn't that about the third in the last two or three weeks against a top tier team in the region?

Don't be surprised for a letdown tomorrow against Bell. Bobcats could win. Fifth game in seven days.

Could be, but I have to think playing this caliber of teams in such a close time frame is excellent practice for the upcoming district and regional tournaments.

I totally agree with you Pepper II.

I just watched the WYMT highlights of this game. That St. John kid for SL is a pretty good sized young man. What is his listed height/weight?

Captain Obvious here. Looks like the 13th tourney will be a lot of fun this year.

Central didn't just hang on SL cut the lead to 2 in the third quarter and Central out scored SL in the fourth. The press was the difference but I thought Sl got away with a lot of fouls pressing and Williams got called for a cheap foul at the start of the third quarter that sent him to the bench until the fourth quarter. I think that was a big difference in the third also. This was the first time I seen either team play this year and I was more impressed with the way Central didn't break in the scond half more than the getting the big lead in the first half. I think the have to be the favorite right now....

Big win for the Panthers.
