Remember back in '96 when the cats went on a tear after losing to U Mass? They went undefeated upto the finals of the SEC Tourny and then lost to Mississippi State, then went on to win the NCAA Championship. I (and this is only my opinion) felt that that game served two purposes. (1) It rekindled the competitive spirit in a team that had been cruzing through the season and refocused their attention toward the ultimate goal. (2) As I recall Antwone Walker sat out most of the game because of rumored differences between he and Pitino. This showed the team that one man isn't the whole team but each individual is one element that together makes a team. Maybe I'm wrong but having a regular season of easy wins or having a player that feels he's bigger than the team can hurt you come tourny time.

But don't look for them to have another shooting night like they did at Vetran's Memorial either. Could happen but chances slim. Russell by 6

Emotions always run high on senior night and Raceland has been playing some good ball, but if the Cougar "D" is on I'll take the cougars by 12+. If the Cougars come out a little flat I'll still take them by 5.

RA09, I'm glad and appreciate the fact that you mentioned Peyton of Morgan County. Though not flashy nor a stand out in the 16th, this young man does so many things that will hurt you on the court. He has good form and can knock down three with any body.

Hey wonder what ever happened to that bus driver from a couple years back the "jinx" Rumor has it that he retired and went into hiding. Others say he started working as a bus driver for a tour guide and took up deer hunting in his spare time. some even say he later combined the two with some success!

This is a good thread, maybe some of these parents will look at it and say to them selves has my behavior been that bad. Any how as a 8th grader many many years ago i was the manager for the high school team. We had just gotten back to the school after playing an away game. One of the parents of a player for our team was'nt happy that his son had to ride the bench because he had missed a few days practiceand he let the coach know it. The worst part though was that as the coach was walking to his car the parent (whether he was just trying to intimadate or not I can't say for sure) puts his car in reverse and floors the accelarator as he's backing toward the coach. The coach ran to his car and the parent drove off. All this because the coach wouldn't bend the rules (that applied to all the players stars or not)for this boy.

:thumb: I agree this is a special group of young men, who have conducted their selves on the court and off the court with maturity and class. :thumb: It has been a pleasure to watch them throughout the year. I by no means meant to disrespect East or West Carter or their schools or fans. I would be a complete idiot(and i'm sure there are some that probably think i am) to think that these two schools aren't capable of ending up in the regional tourney. Again I apologize if I might have offended anyone with my question.

Given the fact that Boyd and fairview drew each other for the first game of their district. If Morgan had drawn Elliott, does anyone feel it would have affected the strength of our regional tournament or even the 16th region in the sweet 16? Just wondering? Hope I ain't opening a can of worms by pondering this.

Chris Trusty knows the game as good as anybody I know. It would be nice to see him get his chance somewhere. But on a more selfish side Coach Perry, Coach Trusty, and Coach Gamble are the best thing to happen to Morgan County b-ball in a long time, so I'd hate to see him leave.

This has been a rough year for anybody predicting games in the 16th region hasn't it Frances! I may have been the only one that was preoccupied with the Boyd/Fairview matchup in the district, but this has definitely changed my whole thought about this districts tourney. Sure is going ot be an interesting one from start to finish ain't it!
