all good shooters as well

The best SHOOTER is Jonathan Vanhoose from Russell. He is pure "LIGHTS OUT" when it comes to shooting. He has a beautiful stroke and follow-through. He may not have the best FG% but IMO he is definately the best shooter. Jonathan can take a game over, keep his team in a game, or finish a team off with his shooting, not to mention everything else he can do but that's for another post. This one asked who the best shooter was and IMO it's Vanhoose. Daniels is a close second as far as shooting, he can also take a game over with his shooting. You would also have to put Owens right there too, he's deadly from beyond the arc. All 3 are great shooters but I would have to give the edge to Vanhoose, his ability to take over a game with his shooting alone is just amazing.

vanhoose and danial both have the ability to pull from anywhere

They sure do. I saw Daniel pull up from 5 feet beyond the arc and drain it. He did it two straight trips down the floor. It was amazing.

Both of them can also take it to the paint and create for themselves as well as for their teamates. i believe that vanhoose has the better team to work with tho.

McCowan - Morgan Co. 68% from the field. :p

Would you classify Owens as a shooter or a scorer??? Kinda like Steve Alford/Steve Kerr vs say somone like Michael Jordan.

Im not from the 16th and don't see a whole lot of 16th Region basketball. But from coaching AAU and seeing more 16th region basketball in the last 2 years than ever before I know there are two players heads abovethe rest that seem to be better shooters.

Mr. Vanhoose -Russell

Mr. Barker-Fairfield (not sure how it goes in, but it always does)

Barker, from Fairview, does have an odd shot and yes it does go in a significant amount of times. I do believe I'd take Vanhoose though!!!

Shooterx3 tells me he's the best shooter in the region hands down... and if it weren't for the lousy age restrictions imposed by the KHSAA, he'd be demonstrating his mad skills at a gym near you.

Vanhoose - Most consistent

Owens - Almost as consistent

Barker- Great Range, should be more consistent

Thomas - His 3 ball is coming along nicely

McCown - 65% is no accident

There is usually a difference between being a good shooter, having a good FG% and being a good scorer.I have found that for the most part FT% is a better barometer of shooting skill than FG%.For example in the most recent statistics for the Independent most people would probably agree that the top 10 FT shooters are better overall shooters than the top 10 in FG%.There are notable exceptions the most noteworthy being Vanhoose and Daniel.Neither is shooting a particular high FG or FT%.However most people realize that the makeup of their teams dictate that that they take shots that others may not even think about.Owens of Boyd also would also fit this mold.

It would be interesting to take the top "shooters" from each team in the area and have some sort of 3 pt. shooting contest.
