Russell rolls into Sandy Hook on Tuesday night. This will be Elliott Co. Senior night where they will honor Ronald Weddington, Nathan Lewis, Greg Conn, and Jackie Reynolds. Both teams are coming off losses to very good teams. What does everyone think. It should be rockin the Da' Hook on Tuesday.

Since Elliott County has some sharp shooters who can light up the scoreboard with the threes and, since they suffered a defeat from Morgan county in their last game, I predict that Elliott will squeak this win out. Eventhough their team may have less experience than the Raceland squad, I believe they will win by something like 65-62.

And for the record those Freshman started varsity as 8th graders! The Faulkners, Ferguson, and Weddington can all play! The :devil: 's will have their hands full in the Hook!!

Freshman or not, the kids at Elliott Co can flat out play. This will be a perimeter game since neither team is very deep inside the paint. This game will hinge on whether the rest of Russells team shows up to help Vanhoose. I'm taking Russell by 2 over Elliott as Vanhoose sinks a 3 at the buzzer to win it.

Weddington and Ferguson will be tough match-ups for Russell as is Vanhoose for Elliott. If Elliott shoots 45% or better from the field they will win. Foul trouble and ft disparity will be critical. Can Russell stop the dribble penetration from Elliott? Do they use some zone? Should be a dandy. "Youth" is more a description of inmaturity and not age, in basketball terms, the Elliott freshmen are mature, seasoned, and experienced.

Experience will have no factor in this game. Elliott's guys have been through some wars this year and will be ready for Russell. Ferguson kid as well as the Faulkners play like experienced players and will pose major problems for Russell.

Elliott County is better skilled offensively at all 5 positions together than any team in the 16th region.

 

For Morgan Co's sake, a Morgan win Tuesday at Raceland, combined with a Russell win over Elliott County the same night would give Morgan Co. the EKC Title outright.

 

Elliott Co. has plenty of match up problems however for Russell. Should be interesting game. Hard to believe this is the last week of the regular season!

If both teams lose, Elliott Co. still wins the EKC.

 

If Elliott wins, it doesn't matter if Morgan wins or not...however, if Elliott loses and Morgan wins, Morgan Co. wins the conference.
