Logan May is a winner both on and off the court. I expect great things from him on the Cougar basketball team. He is a natural dribbler and shooter and is very skilled at the game.

I am so glad that this young man is back in the game and recovering! Congratulations to him, his team, and his family!

Elliot vs Elliot- Brother vs. Sister.... who wins?
nerf replied to Qryche11's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Since both of these young people are good basketball players and fine teenagers as well, would you (and all of the others who misspell their last name) please spell their name correctly? The correct spelling of Pat and Sarah's last name is ELLIOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Weakest region and Strongest regions
nerf replied to Powerhouse Cats's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Nets, are these regions the strongest or the weakest and is each region listed in the order of its strength or weakness? -
It looks as though Elliott County is revving up the ante for all of their opponents. I like this team and wish them luck except against Morgan County.

Elliott County 67 Morgan County 65

I think this loss to Elliott County tonight will make the Cougars really revved up for the game against the Lions on their home floor. I know what a difficult place Elliott County is for the opposing team to play but I think the Cougars will take care of business and win it by a very slight margin. -
What do you think about this game? Any predictions of any kind?

mid season player rankings for 16th in state
nerf replied to shooterx3's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Teams with an overall balance in players' abilities and talents are much better competitors when game time rolls around. Maybe that is why Morgan County has no player listed in the top ranks. This team comes at you from all over the floor and there is not one true star player on it. I think that is why they win so many contests on the basketball floor; if you shut down one player, another will come at you in scoring and defense. -
Before the game last night between Morgan County and Boyd County, and yes, during the game, I wanted the Cougars to win with every tense muscle and frazzled brain cell I had. But, now that the game is over, I just sort of wonder if losing this game with Boyd might not have been an advantage to the Cougar team. In the post game analyses and rehashings, I see now that the Cougars did not finish well and think this lesson of finishing the game with the same gusto as the team showed for the first three quarters might have been more impressive with a loss to Boyd County.

BigCat23, I can't do that Vince Carter reverse 360 yet but I continue to practice and, by the time spring comes, I hope to have that mastered too. Thanks for your interest in my skills. There is a rumor that I will be asked to perform at half time tonight in the Morgan-Boyd matchup but I never believe rumors. Go, Cougars!

Morgan County tops East Carter tonight by 59-48 score.

Sorry, guys and gals, but I overlooked the previous post about this game. I have been just too busy practicing my nerf ball dribbling and dunks, and thus had not taken time to look well.

Morgan County and Boyd County duke it out in West Liberty Saturday night. Any predictions or opinions or ideas about this game's outcome? I'll take Morgan by about 10 points.

Morgan @ East Carter Predictions
nerf replied to Caveman's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I think Morgan County will beat East Carter by 15 or more points. There are too many variables involved for me to be willing to predict each team's scores though. I am cautious about such things. -
If McCowan is in his usual game mode, I will agree with your prediction.

So who do you think will win Friday night's game between Morgan County and Rowan County? Remember the game will be played in Morgan County. Any predictions on the scores or margin of victory for this one?

Does anyone in the mountains play defense?
nerf replied to Jim Schue's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
SKINPIG, I am of the opinion that I have the right to post on here just like everybody else. And, when I am assured that I have a valid idea to transmit, be assured that I will do so. See you around the hog lot. -

I know very little geography, SKINPIG, and I am sorry that I seem to have offended you. You might also want to read my apology to Jim Schue. I am of the opinion that the best idea for me on here is to just shut up. -

First of all, I was angrier the morning I made that post than the situation warranted and my only excuse is that I had not had coffee or breakfast yet. However, I would have been somewhat upset even if I had been "all coffeed up" and well fed. Geographical boundaries have nothing to do with my displeasure though. I think there are big differences between hills and mountains and I maintain that many of the schools mentioned are in the hills. Of course I was primarily concerned with the local high school which I cannot name. Sorry if I offended you, Jim Schue, or any other member of BGP. I intend to drink my usual 2 cups of java and eat my breakfast before posting again. -

I did not specify how many counties' teams are in the mountains of Kentucky and only mentioned Pike County because this county's mountains are so vivid to me. The hill vs. mountain theme has plagued me for a very long time. So no, nobody soiled my cereal this morning. Did somebody taint your slop, SKINPIG? -

My anger about this discussion has nothing to do with any fear of being called a hick. I readily admit that I am a hick. However, I resent that the entire eastern section of Kentucky is often referred to as being in the mountains when much of this area is not located in mountains. It is in the FOOTHILLS of the Appalachian Mountain range and thus is a hilly area.
