I agree. Totally juvenile and uncalled for comment. Bardstown played Fairdale last year and their administration was first-rate. Remember in 2020, school systems canceled left and right in regular season, but left their teams to the mercy of administration in the playoffs because the season had been delayed. CAL actually canceled on Fairdale that year. Someone makes an accusation like that they better come with some proof other than "they were scared of us, pretty convenient." Lame.

I haven't seen either of these two teams play. From the description, Greenup production is almost a one-man show, and my experience tells me that that is awful tough to win with at this stage of the playoffs. That plus the home game favors Mason by a tick.

It is, but depth helps in practice. A lot of guys that might otherwise have been reserves have gotten a lot of battle-tested experience under their belts. That is the only silver-lining to injuries. It also helps morale to see a (almost) full contingent in uniform.

Good news tidbits: Tiger Junior DB J.T. Barnett was given the clear-to-play last week from a preseason broken ankle. 6’5” 230 lb. Senior offensive lineman Charlie Floyd has his clear-to-play evaluation this week from a preseason broken tibia. Sophomore TE Caleb Nalley has a clear-to-play evaluation today from concussion symptoms suffered in practice a couple weeks ago.

In the Bardstown game I was really impressed with the Johnson kid as a defender. Really flew to the ball. Offensively, Hazard really struggled to give him enough room to get rolling. Our DL dominated that night. If Raceland’s DL is physical and aggressive, they should advance comfortably.

CAL or Mason?

We used to do neutral field playoff games in California in the 80’s. The problem they found was a total lack of preparation by the host field, typically NOT in the playoffs. Fields not properly mowed/maintained, inadequate numbers of volunteers for the press booth, concessions, etc., or people simply coming late, providing for very low quality venues for the games.

Curious what you see in the Tiger defense that would cause you to believe Union will drop 35 on them?

Watching the film of the Hart County/Union County game was interesting. Hart actually moved the ball pretty well, though I will say that the penalties and play-calling on 3rd down was interesting. I think Union figured out by the 3rd quarter that Hart really could not pass, put 8 in the box, and let it rip. They won't be able to do that against the Tigers. I will say that Pollard is a highlight reel of jump cuts, spins, and feignts. Bardstown's defenders will have to be sound tackling to keep him in check.

It is, indeed, the first-ever meeting between these two programs. Glad to welcome Braves fans to the Bourbon City. The Tiger QB is Brayden Clark, no relation to Brady, who graduated last year. With our injuries, and the youth of the team, this is all cream at this point.

Howard should be a unanimous first team all-state, and would be my vote for Mr. Football. I knew what they had when Bardstown played him Week 1. Best player I have seen this year.

Prolific Bethlehem Senior QB Cooper Stone broke his collarbone vs. Sayre in the regular season finale, ending his season. It would have been nice to see what this team could’ve done had he not had that injury.

How much time left in this one.

Heck of a season for Nelson County. They were jacked up all week and left it all on the field tonight. The Tigers looked . . . rusty. They looked like a team that had 2 of the last 3 weeks idle, hadn’t really played anyone in 6 weeks, and whose returned-from-broken-collarbone QB hadn’t had any reps in 6 weeks. Three trips inside the 10 where we didn’t put the ball in that purple. Still, they did not rise to the hype, put on their hard hats and took care of business. A win is a win is a win, particularly in the playoffs. Union visits next week.
