Barbourville wins Diamond Classic
kc3pointer replied to kc3pointer's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
Jim they only lost their catcher last year. Worthy and Crawford were two solid junior pitchers and they added Good this year. Pretty much 4 out of their five bball starters start on the baseball team along with their 6th man. Bville needs to enjoy it though because they will loose their top 4 players including top 3 pitchers. -
Barbourville wins Diamond Classic

Old soda i was impressed as well but i only caught the last part of the South game and the North game. From what i was told they pitched 4 guys in 4 games, thats pretty good. But after this showing they are a top ten team in the 13, IMO. -
Barbourville won the Diamond classic yesterday at South laurel. They beat Campbell County Friday night and Middlesboro and North Laurel yesterday. South beat them in their pool play 3-2 but they won the tiebreaker to advance to beat North in the championship. A real shocker here, but maybe they are just a little under-rated this year.

Nice win for middlesboro. Barbourville has been playing well though. Looks like they played a close one tonight and beating Cumberland and had Bell down before a rain out. Might be a new top 10 ten in the region.

Who knows? But thats a question that needs to be answered. Could you imagine if a ref kept a bunch of kids from playing at Rupp. I hope they get that situation solved asap.
-
With all the problems with the ref and the court in Louisville, what happens if the game don't get played. I was watching the news and they reported that there is no guarantee that the game will be played on Monday. If the court doesn’t decide on the game, what happens to the Sweet Sixteen. Surely, they cant put one of the biggest tournaments in nation on hold. If anybody has any answers to this, please let me know.

The refs did a great job on this game. They called questionable calls, but they went both ways. I saw this game and I have to say it was one of the best championship games in the 13th region in along time. Barbourville played their hearts out and so did South. IMO though, what makes this game so great is the way both teams went after each other during the game, but afterwards they seemed like they were best friends. Class act both way. I hate to see those four seniors from Barbourville leave. You have earned your school respect for the first time ever. Good luck South at State. Represent out region well. -

If they left at 4 today I would hate to see the crowd friday night for when Bville plays Clay. Good Luck getting into that game. -

Barbourville only lost one game in the past month and that was to Bell County. Therefore, I have to disagree. North Laurel doesn't have the record to be ranked that high. But that is me. It makes little difference though. South is #1 and Lynn Camp is #8. In between there depends on what night it is. South Bell Barbourville Clay Corbin Cawood North Lynn Camp -

Why did South continue to press the entire game. I listen to some of it on the radio and they said they were still pressing in the 4th quarter. I'm suprised that W'burg scored as much as they did. -
Barbourville vs Knox Central 51st district
kc3pointer replied to Mastermind's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
If Miller leaves Central, he would probally go to Corbin. Their 8th grade team is good this year and they have 3 solid freshman. Put him on a team with Crawford and a good supporting cast then in 2 years you have your regional champs. But hopefully that will never happen. We need him at Kc. -

I have been told that he is looking to go elsewear. But hopefully he stays at central. I guess we will have to wait and see next year. -
Barbourville vs Knox Central 51st district
kc3pointer replied to Mastermind's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Central is young right now since everybody walked out. Barbourville is playing bad right now though. So I have to say Bville wins this but its gonna be a close one. If central gets beat then expect it to be less then 5. -
What High School did you go to?
kc3pointer replied to Bird Man's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Knox Central High School class of 89 -
Elam needs the respect. Experience is a key role in winning and that is what his team needs right now. That however, takes time and time only. I know everybody talks bout the county kids going to Bville and stuff but that’s their business. Dinky would be winning bout 7 games a year with just "city" kids". I only have one question. Cody Miller is one of the best 8th graders around. How come everybody says he is going elsewhere and he is playing for KC right now. For Central to be consistent every year they need the best players that live in Knox County, to go to Knox Central.

Fear 'Les' 13th Region Ratings (Feb. 9 - Feb. 15)
kc3pointer replied to Les's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Les your article today about Elam was a great one. He is a great coach and its time somebody said he was. Central is down this year, but that dont mean Elam is a bad coach. -
South's starting five will all get double figures in points and then they will be pulled once they do. I'm guessing some where in the 4 minutes in the game. South is a great program and I cant see them showing little class and beating w'burg like they actually could.

Can Barbourville knock off South Laurel.
kc3pointer replied to Catman 52's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I think Barbourville's starting five goes 6'2 (Cox), 6'1 (Vanover),6'4 (Good), 6'4 ( Grubb) and Crawford is listed at 6'5. Their bench drops off to about 6'0 I assume but I disagree I personally believe that them and Clay have the size to match up with South. But either way it takes a great game and a poor game by South. The chances of both happening on the same night are slim, so why worry? -

kc3pointer replied to Catman 52's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
IMO I believe that Barbourville is the only team to beat South in the 13th. Clay might if its at Clay. But this is considering Bville has a great night and South is having an off. Nobody can beat South in the 13th if they are on they way they can be. The vill. was right in his comment that Barbourvilles problem is they are not deep enough. Foul trouble would hurt them bad. -

I agree this game is a shock. But SL is a class act if they win or loose. I owe that to Coach Wright. Does anybody have any stats from this game? -

Paintsville shouldn't be at number 2 after being put out in the first round this week. I also agree and think that Leslie should be in there. -

disapointing for KC tonight. Not only did they loose the game but the lost a key player in McKeehan. Its a shame that Elam lets stuff like that happen. But humors were throughout the year that the two had not been getting along. Now I'm being told that most Central fans expect a new coach next year. Possible a newly hired assistant. Any how congrats to Pineville on the win.
