  1. I agree with Highlands, next in line, without a question, BOYLE CO., they are the BEST 1-4 team in the state, every team they have lost too is undefeated, a combined 18-0(Henry Clay, Danville, Lafayette, Mercer). The Rebels will win their district and region, mark it down and dont be surprised if they still end up in Louisville on that 1st weekend of December.
  2. The facts are at the KHSAA website, theres your facts. Mercer's going off of last year was just a few over 700 students, Harrodsburg had a little over 200. Given last years graduation and this years incomming freshmen, gives you an estimate of around 915 or so, give or take a few...the exacts arent known yet. Secondly, the new alignments arent going off of the CO-ED enrollment, they are going off the enrollment of BOYS in a school. If you'll look close enough at next years alignments, you'll see that most of the current 2A schools will be playing in the new 3A and 4A next year, with Mercer moving to 5A. According to last years enrollment, Lincoln County is one of the lowest 4A schools when it comes to enrollment (1160), with Anderson County being one of the biggest 3A schools, enrollment (1144)... So, in saying that, it leaves this years MERGER enrollment somewhere around 200+ kids away from the small 4A and 200+ difference when it comes to the biggest 3A school. Lets say that this years enrollment is 950 (which it's not), that would still leave Mercer in the middle of the pack of 3A schools. So, what Im trying to tell you, is that, if Mercer was a borderline 3A/4A, they would need to be in the mid-high 1100's, like Lincoln and Anderson (1160 and 1144). Those are facts that are INDISPUTABLE!!:jump:
  3. Mercer is NOT a borderline 3A/4A team, they are a technically a small 3A school playing in 2A, with an enrollment of right about 915 students. A little over 700 from the original Mercer campus, and only about 200 or so from Harrodsburg.
  4. Congrats to Coach Preston, his staff and players. This win is a prime example of how much one cant read into the summer "7on7" games, bc Butler won that BIG back in JUNE, goes to show much much those things DONT mean. Great Job Western!!
  5. Actually, they(MERCER) wont have to say "hello to the big Lexington and Louisville schools." Because most of those "Big schools" are going to be in 6A, Mercer will be in 5A. To be exact, Mercer wouldnt have to worry about playing a Lexington school (Bryan Station) until the semi-state rounds. The only "Big" L'ville schools in 5A are Doss, Iroquios and Waggener..and they'll be in the West. In saying this though, theres some awful good teams by the names of South Laurel, Lincoln Co., Southwestern, Highlands, CovCath, Ashland , etc. in Mercer's end of the state. I think we've all heard of them!!haha It's going to be lots of fun for years to come, because that is GREAT company!!! At the sametime, that's a long, long, long, long, long way away to even be thinking about that..given Mercer is only in the 3rd week of THIS season.
  6. This is still the 2006 season, right?! Thought so, so that means we are going by the 4 Class enrollment system, so in saying that, Mercer, under the current alignment has right around 915 students, so they are actually a small 3-A school playing in 2A...now, as far as next year goes, yes, they will be bumped up to 5A, but more than half of the current 2A schools will also be moved up a class to 3A and even 4A, with Mercer being the only one moved to 5A. Does Mercer have a "size" advantage as far as numbers?? Sure. But when you compare their "advantage" to some of the bigger 4A schools (Henderson, Dunbar, and a few others) who have up to over 1,000 more students than some of the smallest schools in 4A, then it really puts Mercers #'s v.s other 2A schools #'s in a REAL, TRUE perspective!:thumb:
  7. Sam Harp and Marty Jaggers are best of friends and that is why they don't play. They did scrimmage and the score in 2 quarters was 7-6 with both teams having one TD called back on a penalty.Ask Sam Harp ,and he'll tell you he doesn't want to play the Titans because of his friendship with Marty Jaggers. On another note,in 2003 The Class A state champions, Danville, beat the class 3 A State Runner-up Ft. Thomas Highlands at Ft. Thomas and in 2002 they beat the 3A State Champion Boyle County.
  8. First, let me start in saying, I agree, Danville, in some ways, was lucky to win tonite, but when you have two of the top knotch teams in the state year-in-year out, play...then sometimes, you have to be a little lucky, it's all part of it. But, what kills me is this, it's easy to talk and/or bash someone behind a screename on a computer, but you made the comment about "danville's defensive coordinators needing to run laps after tonite", welll, to that i say, COMPLETE CRAP!! It's easy to say that on here, but I'd like to see if you would say that to JERRY PERRY's face, (D'ville''s Def. Coordinator)..because, I have a feeling that you or anybody else in their right mind wouldn't!! That is LOW!! Bottom Line!! Since you know it all, I tell you what you need to do, go tell Jerry what it is he needs to do on defense..see how that goes over!! When was the last time you played in the secondary, and what team was it you played for?!?! In saying this, you seem to be a Danville supporter, but in my opinion, their is no excuse for making a comment like that. If you make a comment like that, on a MESSAGE BOARD about YOUR team, when it wins a big game, but give up some points, then don't go congratulating Jerry Perry or any of the Danville coaches win they do a good job, especially if you are one these who talks bad behind their backs, but offers congratulation to their face win they win!
  9. Im a little behind on my spanish, so, You're welcome sir, you're welcome!:jump:
  10. That team went 10-2 just like Mercer did last year under Jaggers in his 1st year there.
  11. Mercer runs the WISHBONE, as a matter of fact, they didnt run any other formations, but the "bone" against S.Laurel. Mercer never attempted a pass the other nite, 577 total yards offense, 577 yds. rushing.
  12. I dont know of any. What I do know is that Marty Jaggers should get an award for "Amateur Field Turf Management", because since the spring, I dont think a day (yes, Im talking weekends) has gone by where he hasnt mowed/and or fertilized/worked on it somehow (Mercer's gamefield), and it shows. Except for a little strip of Crab Grass in the middle, that, for whatever reason, keeps comming back. It really does look great, though. Seven soccer games, a freshman game and band practices have been taken place on it already, but it still looks great considering all that has been played on it to date.
  13. With the seating, there is more of an area to spread out with lawnchairs and what not, which makes for a great atmosphere like it did the other nite. Although, over at Mercer's field, they have made improvements for those who will want to do the same over there, a large opening on(one like that of Harrodsburgs old practice field) the end of the fieldhouse will be available for tailgaiting, so there will be some more room. On the subject of the field, though, Mercer's field is in the best shape it's been in for years. Truthfully speaking, there is no question which is the better playing surface, the Bermuda at Mercer, if you get a chance, go walk on both and you'll see, rather easily. If one could match the seating at Alvis Johnson Field and the playing surface at Mercer, then that would be the perfect setting. They could play in a parking lot, and Id come watch, as Im sure 7,999 others would too!!:thumb:
  14. A little more than 900, I think Harrodsburg has about 200(give or take a few) to go with Mercer's, who's i think (and this is going off of last years #'s) is 713 to be exact. So, factoring in last years graduation from both and the incomming freshmen, somewhere around 915 or so, I would think. Mercer, though, is NOT the only 2A team in the state with those kinds of #s, though, Western and Lone Oak are up there with them (that's why we have realignments, though, too..b/c of the change). Hope that helped?!:thumb:
  15. Mercer's enrollment with the merger is just over 900, as are a couple others that are currently playing in 2A (Western, Lone Oak, etc.). So technically, they have small 3A #s, not 4A. So, the next time, check your facts... Secondly, if your assumption of Mercer being a 4A school playing in 2A were true, they still just beat a reigning 4A district champ 53-6....at least get your facts straight...
  16. Not this year, because the first two rounds of the playoffs are to be played within your own district...then the winner out of it will play the winner out of the LaRue, Etown, Western, DeSales, etc. district. *I know this is a long, long, long, long way away..but just sharing the info, hope that helps?!:thumb:
  17. I apologize in stating that you dogged Peach or his players...you have, though, DOUBTED his players willingness. Maybe it's just me, but if Im never going to DOUBT anything of a "good friend" of mine, especially his players. Ill support until Im blue in the face, even if there are naysayers...but, I do apologize about saying that you dogged Peach, never did you say that and it was too late to edit my original post.
  18. First of all, I stated their success from the late 80's to the LATE 90's. Secondly, you must've never heard of a guy named Dudley Hilton and Bourbon County, because if you had, you'd know the success he had his 1st year, taking a perinnal losing team with not much success whether it be in the 90's, 80's or 70..and winning the Class AA state championship, then to the second round the year after. Thirdly, if you know Peach that well and RESPECT him as much as you say you do, then you wouldnt be dogging him or his "kids" (players) "willingness" or lack of from how you seem to put it, on a message board. What makes you think that the kids at Anderson are doing anything but puting all of their HEARTS on the line to get the program back to what it was???!!
  19. My theory?! My theory is this, the man, Peach has won EVERYWHERE he has been, from Class A, to Class 4A to the college level at Campbellsville (where he got royally messed over) to a team (Anderson Co.) who except for the previous 5 years before Peach's arrival had everybody on their schedules RESPECT. Anderson Co being a team that from the mid 1980's through the late 90's had a great reputation for winning, and if they werent for them being in the same region as Danville during some of those years(91-96), might have made it to Louisville. He inherited a team that won 5 games in 5 years, in 2003 and 2004, Anderson Co., I believe went 0-20 (i apologize to those if Im wrong). So, my theory is that he is starting a new era at Anderson, one that will get them back to the success they had prior to 2000. If you are bringing up past success, then theirs you some past success and my THEORY.
  20. The boys from Radcliff and Vine Grove by a couple TD's, two teams that will both play physical and be strong, the deciding factor in this one, Autry and Terry, North's overall speed prevails.
  21. South Laurel dominated the game last year against Harrodsburg and won very easily with a running clock in the 2nd half.I look for South to win thir 4 A district again and I look for this to be a very close game. South Laurels passing game is as good as any team in the state and I look for them to score alot of points. Mercer won't face a better offense all year.
  22. I see them winning their first 3 non-district games v.s Breck, Clinton and Pendleton, then wins over Bourbon and Western Hills. That's 5 games right there, at the minimum..just watch.:thumb:
  23. E-town will always have talent, the problem at that school, is that a good deal of its better athletes, year in year out, dont play football. Yeah, i know about Todd, Duncan and the kid that signed with Alabama last year and the Pettigrew(basketball player) who is footballing it..but, for just as many good athletes that they do have playing, their are just as many kids at that school who, for whatever reason, just focus on basketball and/or baseball, but not football. It makes zero sense to me, but whatever!?!! E-town has talent this year, it might be young talent, but they have it. The fans their just need to give Paul Gray a chance. I see E-town not making the mistakes that Central Hardin did last year, and beating Ohio Co..a tight game, but the Panthers pulling it out.
