  1. This past year Mercer played 3 teams their own size, one bigger (S.Laurel), and two a little bigger than (Boyle Co. and LaRue Co, both 4A schools with enrollments over 800, and Boyle being closer to 900). Mercer beat S.Laurel 53-6, Boyle 27-14 and a very talented LaRue Co. team 56-14. I dont care what anybody wants to say about Boyle being down, because they were a very good team, just so happened that the 5 teams they lost too in the regualar season had a record of 47-3, four of those teams went undefeated in the regular season. Im not making predictions, but if Mercer stays healthy this year, then theres a going to be a lot of people eating crow as the season goes along, mark that down.
  2. Playmakr, "whatsda syaoybeya?!" :jump:  Perry and Jaggers both joined up with Coach Harp in '97, they were all three on the same staff for 8 seasons, until Jaggers took the Mercer job. Perry and Harp, though are about to start their 11th season together, not counting the few years that Perry was an assistant under Harp at Anderson and Danville in the mid-late 80's, until Perry took the Garrard job in '90 ( i believe thats the year??) So, you're probably looking at somewhere around 15 years that those two (Harp and Perry) have been on the same staff. Joe Washington was one of Joe Jaggers assistants from '77-'98 at both Ft. Knox and North Hardin (a couple years in the mid 90's, Washington took off, but rejoined), he's now the HC at North, since '99. Joe Dickerson (former Elizabethtown HC from '96-'98) was an assistant to Jaggers at Ft. Knox and North, as well, from '84-'96..calling the defense for many of those years. LaRue Co.'s staff has been together a long time, three of current staff members have been inplace for about 10 years now (Armes HC, Sandige, Dawson and maybe even Kirkpatrick the whole time). Even before Armes took over, I believe all of those were on the LC staff in some form or fashion in the early 90's when Duncan and Brown were the HC's (I could be wrong, though, I know they were there when Brown was the HC), whether at the middle school or HS. So, you're looking at somewhere around 15 years or so, together for those guys, too. Of course you have Pardue and Mason at Boyle Co, too, who I believe came in with Chuck Smith back in '92?! It's amazing too look at the correlation between the time these coaching staffs have spent together and the success of their programs, isnt it??! Granted some have been more succesfull than others, in terms of State Championships, but all are nothing short of having the reputations of being very good programs across the state.
  3. You have intelligence just oozing out of you dont you?! Wow..impressed, really!! Yes, next season, as in the 2007 season. In that case, you need to tell Trinity they should have put 6A on theirs, since that's what they'll be NEXT YEAR and CovCath to have 5A put on theirs, since that's where they'll be, as well, NEXT YEAR. While we're at, you need to point out that if LaRue Co, Western, etc. had won it, that they should have had 4A put on theirs, b/c that's where they'll be NEXT YEAR, and that if 3/4 of the rest of the 2A teams this year had won it, then they'd need 3A put on theirs, since that's where they'll be NEXT YEAR!!! That might be the most uneducated statement that I have ever read on this site. Congrats! "Tell him what he's won Bob"!!! (Just so we're clear, to any of those that I mentioned, Im not being the least bit serious when I made the remarks I made, just trying to point out what how RIDICULOUS the afore-mentioned statement was :thumb: )
  4. You're right. From what I hear, they have a freshman that is as fast as Justin Collins, right now and apparently has the makings to be an absolute stud. 4A, watch out this year. Western has the ingredients to make a lot of noise. Great talent, a great coach and they're also going west this year.
  5. You're exactly right, and they all recieved one!! Very deserving, Very!
  6. Actually, you're not stating facts. They wouldnt have been 4A in the first place, at best they would have been an enrollment of a low-mid range 3A school. Im sure I can speak for all players, coaches and fans, though, when I say thank you for the initial congrats!:thumb:
  7. I will be so glad when the 2007 season gets here, so that some of this crap can be dropped. LSUrock, Actually, most of the 2A schools fall anywhere within the range of 520 students to the low, to mid 800's, with this year Louisville Western and Mercer, both, over 900 students and Lone Oak, LaRue County being next in line in the mid 800's. Also, Mercer's 92 players are 9-12, and NO, they do not have 20 "coaches", or even close. I believe that they only have 8 paid coaches. Now, if one looked on the sideline on game nites, you would think that, but a good number of them were either statisticians and or middle school coaches.
  8. This doesn't make any sense, why would they want to get rid of a guy who been pretty successful to get a guy who hadn't proven himself. He goes 5-6 in his only year as a head coach and they act like he's better than what they had.Why didn't they go after someone who had proven himself. With the talent they've got coming back, alot of coaches out there could get them to the semi's but why not go after a coach that has been to the State game to get them there?
  9. Some of Mercer's boosters, coaches and players have all pitched in to help raise almost $30,000 to pay for all of the kids rings.
  10. Im sure there is going to be some sort of smart remark made about Mercer, but what else is new?! Their rings are due to be in anytime, I believe. Once they get here, I'll put a pic up.
  11. With all do respect, I don't know who you have talked to, but RaShad has not enrolled at Harmony Community School in Cincinatti. I talked with him this morning from David Poole's phone, as well as David Poole, from the school (Head Football Coach/ Dean of Students at Harmony) and RaShad has not and will not be enrolling at Harmony. Arrangements are being made to get him back to Harrodsburg from Cincinatti ASAP.
  12. No need to make any calls. RaShad HAS NOT enrolled at Harmony or any other place for that matter.
  13. I'm thinking that since Boyle has the 'Danville Edge' in this one 2:1, that Boyle might just pull it off, but I'm going with Lincoln playing at home. (that first part was just a joke, just a joke..I couldn't resist, nothing personal..all in fun!) Seriously, though, I think whoever wins this game is sitting pretty good to make a run when they get to Rupp. As I'm sure most of you know, the 12th region opens up with the 5th region, a traditionally very strong region, but is "very down" this year, which isn't a knock, because most of the time the 5th Region is a microcosim of the 1983, Houston "Fly Slamma Jamma" Cougars. Good luck to the Rebs and the Pats!!
  14. No, RaShad has NOT tranferred to a PREP school in Ohio. That's all Im going to say about the situation, but NO, RaShad HAS NOT enrolled at this school in Ohio!!!
  15. Congrats to you Kasey. Murray State got a steal, that's for sure!! I know that I speak for all Mercer County fans, players and coaches when I say that you are one heck of a football player, a true game breaker! Here is wishing you the best of luck down in 'Racer Land'!!
  16. You can bet your vehicle, too. I can tell that you and jeepman are out of cheese to go along with that wine. Would y'all like some Monterey(sp?) Jack or Colby this time?!
  17. If JCHS has week 2 open they can play. Mercer has week 2 open. I don't believe you can play someone unless they have the same week open.
  18. From what I know, the Johnson Central/Mercer talk came about after Mercer had already scheduled Russell County, Boyle, Hoptown and Rockcastle as their non-district part of the schedule, to go along with the likes of Lincoln Co, South Laurel, Southwestern and Pulaski Co. The only spots that would have been open after that would have been Week 2, which is Mercer's bowl game. That week wasn't open for Johnson Central, the only other week open would have been Week 11, the last of the regular season. If that was the case, then I can completely understand Mercer not wanting to schedule a team that they might have turn around and play a couple weeks later in the playoffs...if that even was the reason. To be honest, Im not so sure that it wouldnt be a bad move to not even play Week 11, v.s a non-district team that has absolutely no bearing on the postseason. Give your kids that extra week rest, and get ready for the big dance. That seems like a very logical move to me?!?
  19. And I heard, that she heard, that he heard from her, who in turn told him, then to her mom, who said this.....save the crap! Basically, you heard wrong, very wrong. Mercer's off season weight program has a great deal of emphasis put on it. 90% of the current 9-11th graders all have a "weight lifting" class throughout the day, Mercer is on block scheduling, so that gives 1 1/2 hrs a day where the boys are working out. The class/work outs are ran by P.E teacher/trainer/strength and conditioning coach, Todd Davis. He does nothing short of a great job with them, too. If you are familiar at all with Georgetown College's off season program, then you'd be familiar with Mercer's. You ever watch the "Strong Men" competitions on ESPN, well he incoorporates a great deal of those type of things in with you Power Clean, Squats, Bench, Hang Cleans, Dead Lift, Hang Cleans, etc. As for the upcomming freshmen (current 8th graders), they all come in a couple days a week after school.
  20. They do lose "7 out of 11 starters", but we all know that's not like losing 7 out of 11 on offense. Why?! Because of the constant rotation, especially on the defensive line. Mercer will have LB's RaShad Buster, Nick Reed and Tyler Horn at LB's and William Harris on the D'Line. While Andre Brooks, Sam Blackburn and DeMarkus Masterson graduate, Ellis Delahousay, Hunter Robinson, Devan Patton all recieved a great deal of playing time on the defensive front. Now, what Mercer will really miss is the loss of the entire secondary, those are the guys on defense that hardly ever rotate in and out.
  21. E-town has talent, always has, always will. If this new 6 class system is going to be beneficial for anyone, then E-town needs to be it's 'Poster-Child'. I have a couple names that E-town should give the job too, and if they gave it to either one of these men, then everybody in E-town needs to be ready for immediate success. I'll save the names for a later time. It just depends on how committed the powers to be at E-town are to wanting their football program to not just win, but annually compete for a ring every year.
