  1. The kids are split, yet together, at both the Mercer campus and the Harrodsburg campus. For example, some may start out at the "mercer" campus for the first half of the day, then be bussed over to the "harrodsburg" campus, some kids even go back and forth for every block period. It sounds like a big cluster, but believe it or not, it has gone very, very well. The kids are mixed and matched througout the day by using both campus'. Different classes are offered at different campus'.
  2. I meant, to the extent of what some from other 2A schools are saying about Mercer's enrollment, I meant to imply that.:thumb: Secondly, and I could careless whether it's 4 classes or 6, b/c their is pro's and cons to both...but Im not speaking on the "real" reason why it's happening.:sssh:
  3. Finally, someone else with some logical reasoning about all this!! And another thing to throw out there CamField, how about the current 4A? A class where you have schools like Dunbar, Henderson Co. with over 2,100 kids and the other schools with over 1,800, playing in a class where some schools, like Lincoln Co. are playing with an enrollment of 1,160!! A difference in a 1,000 kids, within the same class..and you dont hear those smaller schools in 4A griping!!:thumb: :jump:
  4. I'm almost certain, if not exact, I apologize, but I believe that if Mercer beats Spencer and Newport beats Lloyd, then all four of those teams will turn around next week and play oneanother, because................... Newport, Lloyd and Spencer will all be in a three way tie w/ a 3-2 record, Spencer WOULD lose out in the tie breaker of the three and finish 4th.
  5. Mercer's official helmet logo/decal isnt that of what the Tennessee Titans have, they have "Titans" in a pretty cool script on the side, not the fire ball or the sword like Tennessee has...The fireball and the sword are used on decoration, shirts, things like that, but it's not what's on the helmet. If you go to their website, http://www.mercertitans.com , and view the picture at the top of the page (game action v/s Boyle) you'll see, although not close-up shot of helmet, what Im talking about. :thumb:
  6. I think this is the rule if there is a 3 way tie for 1st.I think it's different for a 3 way tie for 2nd.I may be wrong.
  7. The way I undestand the ruling is the pts. are used to break a 3 way tie for 2nd and than for 3rd you look at head to head between the 2 other schools.
  8. I think Lloyd gets the 3 spot because they beat Spencer head to head and than Lloyd and Newport play again and Spencer would have to travel to Mercer. This means that all 4 have to play each other back to back weeks. That's what I meant by way to go KHSAA.
  9. If Newport wins and Mercer wins, I think they both turnaround and play each other the 1st week.Way to go KHSAA.
  10. I heard the starting qb for Spencer didn't play.Does anyone know if he was hurt and if he'll be back?
  11. Having ran the spread, versus not or just from witnessing it being ran is irrelevant. It doesnt take a genious to watch two teams in a game, one haveing somebody like LexCath's former QB Justin Burke play a team w/ a much lesser QB and be able to tell why one team is better looking at the spread than the other.
  12. Thanks for the info!! I hadnt really looked into, I was completely assuming that the playoff format in the new alignment was going to be how it has been in the past?!? Thanks!!!!:thumb:
  13. You might also check out things in Mercer Co./Harrodsburg 1st hand, before you start making these doubts. For you and others who dont think that Mercer wont succeed (winning, making playoff runs, possible state championships) in the new 5A alignment, well, just watch and wait. As for the next couple years in 5A (it wont surprise me at all that when the next realignment comes out in a couple years, that Mercer will probably drop down to 4A, the only reason they will be 5A the next two years is because of 60/40, boy/girl ratio that they currently have in the HS..they'll be one of the smallest 5A schools), Mercer will do just fine. They will lose a boat load of talent after this year, but they currently have a great group of Sophomores, a sophomore class that would be getting a lot more playing time this year, if it werent for the current senior class. Another thing, Mercer in 5A will be in the east semi-state. Their district will include Southwestern Pulaski, Pulaski County, South Laurel and Lincoln Co, all of whom who are very good football programs. The region will include the "mountain" 5A schools of Perry Co. Central, North Laurel, Clay County, etc....Highlands, CovCath and Ashland are the big names in the other region of Mercer's semi-state.
  14. With the exception of 2004, the games have been blowouts with the ADS dominating since 99.
  15. The coaching staff at Boyle has their kids back in the winning ways, and they'll continue. I hope that some of you Reble fans out there who jumped ship earlier in the year when BOYLE was playing GREAT competition, but comming up short, dont even jump back on board, b/c you're not a true fan. I hope to see Boyle make it as far as they possibly can this year, as I do all of the Danville area schools. Don't be shocked to see Boyle go on, at least, a five game winning streak....yes, that means the possibility of them winning their region and onto the state-semis! Best of Luck :thumb:
  16. I forgot all about them, I knew there were some more that could've been mentioned, those were definately great HS QB's and from what I hear, they are doing good things on the college level!! Isn't Doss starting for Wyoming??! Ystick, O'Caths QB from last year, you say he was average. Was he average in size, speed, weight, strength, what?? He was more than just average in throwing/completing the ball, b/c if he was anything less, O'Cath wouldnt have went as far as they did. I remember a QB in a college system about 10 years back, as a matter of fact, he won the Heisman, but he wasnt the strongest, tallest, fastest, biggest or even most athletic, but what he could do is make great decisions and get the ball to people, Danny Wuhrful(sp??). There wasnt a thing average about him when it came to throwing the ball. Also, I dont want any of you to think that I am using Danny boy as a measuring stick, just stating that he was considered AVERAGE in a # of things, which he might have been, but he was anything, but average, when it came to decision making and making all the throws. I dont think any of his talents were just average, b/c you cant be that and win the Heisman of play in the NFL, but in somes eyes, his overall "skill" in other aspects wasnt great.
  17. First of all, I'll agree with you, that you have to have talent to be successfull at all offenses, but IMO, running the spread offense with little or no talent actual sets you up for little success. There are three things that can happen when you throw the ball. 1) Incomplete pass 2)Interception 3) Completion Two out of those three are bad things, one causes a turn over, the other stops the clock..over and over and over and over and over, allowing an opposing team, one that, let's say, runs the wishbone to take over and drive the ball, eating away clock, while at the sametime scoring points. I cant tell you how many times I have watched teams, w/equal talent play, one run the wishbone/option/etc. gains yardage, scores, move the chains...then you have the other who wants to throw it all over the place, run 3 plays, all incomplete passes, and only run 30 seconds off the clock, only to punt the ball back to the other team for them to eat up more clock and score. Im willing to bet you that the teams that run the spread offense that have an excellent QB and talented receivers do a whole lot more of #3 than those teams who try to do the same thing that have a so-so, less than average QB and skill kids. The teams that dont have a QB who can throw it and skill (or lack of) that cant catch it do #1 and #2....and a whole bunch of it. Bottom line is, above everything, you HAVE to have an above average QB to run this offense. If you dont have a kid back there with some touch and who can gun sling it, pin point, when needed, then you dont have a prayer with this offense. FACT. Look at the teams from the past in the state who have suceeded(deep in the playoffs, state championship game, etc.) at the spread offense and look where their QB has gone. Justin Haddix- Breathitt Co.(00-02')..now currently resetting all the record books down at WKU. Four year starter at WKU. Chris Todd- E-town- now the 2nd team QB at Texas Tech as a R-Fr. O'Cath- I can't remember his name, but led O'Cath to consecutive state game appearences the last two years, now at Marshall. These three kids could throw the ball! They weren't "wishing" it out there, like you see a bunch of kids in this offense nowadays doing.
  18. Donald "Sunshine" won his AA region in the 100 and 200, not for sure the 200 time, but I'm about positive his 100 meter time was 11.00. The time for Corey in the state also has to figure in that he slipped, a significant one, almost a complete face first fall at that. He won his region in the 100 with a 10.71.
  19. Heres a thought on what WE could all do, this is a thread that will be beat to death, all in fun of course, heres hoping that Danville (Class A), Mercer (Class AA), Boyle (Class AAA) and Lincoln Co. (Class 4A), all four are playing at the pizza box on the 1st weekend in December!! Talk about great football in small town America, not to mention just in Kentucky. Four small town, county schools all within 20 miles of one another playing for a title!! :thumb: :jump:
  20. They'd be in 3A, middle to lower half of 3A. A guestimated enrollment right now of 915 or so, give or take a couple. The only reason that they will be 5A next year is because of the male enrollment that the KHSAA is going off of, if they were still going by co-ed enrollment, then Mercer would be in 4A next year..but, if, cat, dog..
  21. You're right, Oklahoma did win the National Champioship w/ this type offense, but think about what you just said...OKLAHOMA, talent out the freakin WAZOOO. With talent, it's great offense and DEADLY, w/out it, you're just beatin a dead horse, but at least you'll make the fans think you know what you're doing. haha
  22. I like it, Im all for it, but only if you have a QB that can pick a defense apart, lineman that can protect and athletes at WR that can run and catch it. If you have that, then yes, I love it, if you dont, then a team is just "thowing" it, because their certainly won't be any "recieving" going on.
  23. Yes, the red building is the facility. I think someone about two weeks ago posted pictures from the inside. As far as the fields go, this year, Mercer has used both Alvis Johnson (H'burgs) and Mercer's field. Coach Johnson's stadium/field was used for the bowl game, the main reason why the rest of the games have been played at Mercer is b/c of the bermuda playing surface. If you could match Mercer's field, w/ Coach Johnsons stadium it would be perfect, b/c it's a very fan friendly environment to watch a game. The kids best interest comes first though, so that's why the games are played at Mercer, b/c of the field itself. As the plans for now, after the last home game this year, Mercers current field/stadium is supposed to be torn down. The new turf and a brand new stadium are going to be built in it's place, as I said, this is "supposed" to be happening after this football season, if not, it will be done w/in the next year or two as the new HS and other academic/athletic fields will be under construction as well.
  24. Thanks to the boosters and everyone else behind the scenes of puting together the new Titan website. It's still under currenct construction, but what is up so far is very impressive. I thought some of you would enjoy viewing this. Thanks again to those operating the website!! http://www.mercertitans.com
  25. Sounds very similiar to Lincoln County's schedule. What's their opponents won/loss record. If anybody out there thinks Boyle County can't play just play them.Four of their 5 losses are to teams that are still undefeated.
