Nate McCoy from Gallatin Co. deserved at least honorable mention. I know GC's strength of schedule is not the best but Nate had an outstanding year leading his team to a record of 10-3, District Championship, and a regional runner up to NCC. He led the state with 14 INTs, had 70 tackles, recovered 4 fumbles, forced 2 fumbles on defense. Offensively, he had 53 catches for 1200 yds, 14 TDs rec., rushed for over 400 yds with 6 rushing TDs. He also returned 2 kickoffs for TDs and 2 punts for TDs. How many votes do you have to have to get Honorable Mention?

I never said Somerset was innocent. Just saying that NCC is just as bad. Last count I had, NCC had two late hit penalties, and could've been called for one or two more. Didn't see any punches thrown.

I said "almost" seems unfair. You're right, NCC does the best with the hand they were dealt. Hope they keep fighting thru the tough times their facing and keep winning.

I bet they did. NCC has some very talented players. It's amazing that they have that kind of talent year in and year out. It almost seems unfair.

My question to the NCC fans on here who are so upset is - Why do you care so much about people saying that private schools have an advantage? Seems to me that you may be protesting too much. Just go out and win another state championship like you do almost every year. Why worry about what others think, unless there is something to be worried about.

First of all, the officiating did not decide the outcome of the game. But I cannot believe that NCC fans are complaining about the refs. The holding call on 3rd down on the first possession of the second half was "by far the worst call EVER!" That took all the momentum GC had at that point, and gave NCC a new set of downs instead of punting. Of course, it wasn't GC's defense that did anything. It was the "uninspired" play from NCC. If you are uninspired to play in a regional championship game then you have a problem, regardless of who you play. All that being said, NCC deserved the win...congrats.

Congrats to Gallatin on a great year. Couldn't be more proud of the effort tonight, and the whole season.

There aren't many kids from smaller schools on the team, if any. The kid from Hazard is the only one. Should be renamed "Best of the Bluegrass 3A and Up Team."

Yes, the game will be played at Warsaw. It is an odd year (2013) so the odd numbered district (5) will host when both #1 seeds play. Based on history and looking at it on paper, this looks like it will be a blowout. But, that's why they play the games. GC has proven people wrong all year. This one will be closer than expected, especially if GC can force turnovers like they have all year.

Congrats to GC on another hard fought win. Carroll was well prepared and played a tough game. Turnovers were the key to the game. GC's defense did a good job of forcing them and taking advantage of them. As for the penalties, there were many more that could have been called. The Cats their work cut out for them vs. NCC, but anything can happen in the playoffs.

Turnovers and penalties did hurt Carroll in the first game, but I think Gallatin's offense had a pretty big night as well. You're right though, that was back in week 7. Should be a great atmosphere and good game.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I didn't say that HC was a contender for the state title. I just said they were a solid team. By solid, I mean that they play hard, and they don't make many mistakes (at least they didn't last night). That being said, Gallatin didn't play very well offensively. They need some work on their passing game, but they played well enough to win. That's a sign of a good team. You're right, any playoff win is a good win.

No surprised by this reaction. A few people on here predicted a sweep by the NKY teams. Now that they lost all 3 last night, it's a down year. Holy Cross is a solid team. Their record doesn't say so, but they played a very difficult schedule. They were 2 or 3 possessions away from being the 2 seed in their district. I wouldn't call that being dominated all year. How about giving some credit to the teams who won.

Gallatin is in NKY?

I'm sure that Newport would like to have another shot at WV, just like Gallatin would like to play Lloyd again. Both teams are playing so much better than they were earlier in the year.

Walton beat Newport 48-13 early in the year so I guess they'd be a 2 seed behind NCC, based on that logic. Once again, you can't compare scores to make predictions. That's why they play the games.

Beal is an outstanding player, but Gallatin has some weapons as well. Nate McCoy is having an unreal year, and Chapman and Brown are pretty good as well. If Beal plays and is healthy that will obviously will cause problems for Gallatin's defense, but I don't see HC slowing Gallatin down that much, if any.

Holy Cross is playing Gallatin Co., not Bracken.

The fact that their name isn't even on the thread tells you all you need to know about the respect Gallatin gets.

You have to be careful when comparing scores, especially in HS football. Each team/match up is different. Just as you mentioned Lloyd being a different team, Gallatin is a different team since losing to Lloyd. That was six weeks ago. I agree, Beal is a great player.

I knew it wouldn't take long for someone to make this statement. Somebody posts this every year. Hopefully the North "Central" KY 2A will at least score against the dominant NKY 2A this time around.
