Gallatin County 26 Covington Holy Cross 19

Final

Congratulations to Gallatin on a hard fought win! Also, congrats to the District 5 teams on winning all 3 games tonight.

I don`t normally post on here, but I couldn`t forget something that was posted the other day about this game. It was said that Holy Cross would have 400 yds rushing against GC. Beal was held to less than 50 and their QB to 89 I think. Now I know respect is earned in football and GC may not be a powerhouse like the" NKY" teams everybody talks about. But we will just keep plugging away and see where we end up.

Nice job, and holding Beal under 100 yards will certainly earn you respect. I saw he only had 14 carries which indicates he may not have been 100% last night, especially since he didn't play at all last week. But the 14 carries also may have been dictated by Gallatin Co. doing a good job shutting him down. Congratulations to GC on the win.

That was a good win despite the Holy Cross record. Carroll Co looks like they have improved so could be a decent game this time around with them.

Love the support for your boys.

However, a team that was dominated all year took you to the wire. That shows the difference.

With that said, I'm thrilled for GC.

Yes they sure did take it to the wire. HC is a very good team despite their record. Wasn`t meaning to take anything away from the team. I only posted this because of all the hype about their running game. We have had problems during the season at times giving up a lot of rushing yds. So we are very proud that it didn`t happen with this game.

I'm a fan of HC and the entire HC community. With that said, they're not a good team muchless a very good team.

No surprised by this reaction. A few people on here predicted a sweep by the NKY teams. Now that they lost all 3 last night, it's a down year. Holy Cross is a solid team. Their record doesn't say so, but they played a very difficult schedule. They were 2 or 3 possessions away from being the 2 seed in their district. I wouldn't call that being dominated all year. How about giving some credit to the teams who won.

I'm not associated with any of the programs in 2A. I do like the HC community.

Lost 48-14 to Holmes(not very good team).

Lost to Newport (not a very good team).

Running clock against an NCC team that isn't the traditional NCC team (still good but not NCC good).

Running clock against Campbell County (strong D-oriented team that doesn't score in bunches)

Crushed against other good teams.

If you call that "solid team" then NKY has a different definition than you do.

I give full credit to GC for winning. That's the the goal. Just like I gave credit to Conner for winning last night despite playing at home against a team that isn't great. Win and advance.

Any and all playoff wins are good wins. We all agree on that.

Just because a couple posters said N. Ky. would sweep, don't take that as how all N. Ky. football fans viewed things. I didn't expect Holy Cross to win but thought they had a chance at an upset, which they did. I said Walton Verona was favored over Lloyd and Lloyd almost messed that pick up but WV got a TD in the last minute to pull out a win. Carroll Co. and Newport ... I really had no thoughts on that one because I know very little about Carroll Co. I was a little surprised at Newport losing by the margin they did. At the end of the day, these districts are very evenly matched, except for New Cath being the clear leader. I think that is the view the vast majority of the N. Ky. fans looked at these first round matches.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I didn't say that HC was a contender for the state title. I just said they were a solid team. By solid, I mean that they play hard, and they don't make many mistakes (at least they didn't last night). That being said, Gallatin didn't play very well offensively. They need some work on their passing game, but they played well enough to win. That's a sign of a good team. You're right, any playoff win is a good win.

Nky team I thought they were both Nky teams. I like how you guys talk about Nky like your the only 3 counties in the state that are northern. Why don't you say northern most part of Kentucky you arrogant things you. Clyde are you sure you are not a fence jumper? I think if HC wins the game you talk about HC's tough schedule and how you knew they would win the game.

 I don't know why, but I can't stop laughing at that comment.
