Funny how it worked out that Somerset is #5, Middlesboro is #8 and Danville is #11 but Somerset is the 3 seed in the district. Gotta love those 3-way ties for first place.

Good point, but that was 9 weeks ago. In the last three weeks Newport has beaten Lloyd, Holy Cross and Holmes. With Holmes beating Walton and Lloyd handling Gallatin pretty easily, it appears that the first round regional games could all be pretty good.

 

What happened to Walton vs. Gallatin? If I had to pick, I would have Newport in the regional final but it is certainly a toss-up between them and Gallatin.

Can't use mutual games but games played headed to head. I said in a previous thread comparing like opponents seldom predicts future scores. The Newport Walton game was head to head. This time of year whomever puts together their best play advances and Walton last against LCA was one of their best efforts of the year. Hopefully, that trend will continue for them.

Unfortunately, that loss to Gallatin has NCC looming in the semi's rather than regional final. I think the Walton/Lloyd first round matchup and the anticipated Gallatin/Newport semi-final matchup could be very good games.

I'm sure that Newport would like to have another shot at WV, just like Gallatin would like to play Lloyd again. Both teams are playing so much better than they were earlier in the year.
