Carroll County and Newport, both with 5-5 records, meet in the first round of the 2A playoffs in Newport. I say Carroll County pulls this one out in a barn burner 35-33. What say ye?

Watched them both play this season. If Newport's RB is healthy, he's a load to take down. Wildcats win a close one.

This isn't the same Newport team from the beginning of the year. Carroll County may have their hands full. Newport by 14.

Newport by 28. I feel it is quite possible that NKY 2A will sweep the first round.

Newport has improved quite a bit throughout the season. I will go with Newport by at least two TDs. Good luck to both teams.

I knew it wouldn't take long for someone to make this statement. Somebody posts this every year. Hopefully the North "Central" KY 2A will at least score against the dominant NKY 2A this time around.

I think Newport will win. They are far from a deep team but that will not matter in this round. They will control the line of scrimmage and if they do not turn it over excessively and take care of things on special teams they will grind out a win.

 

As for the NKY district sweeping....... NCC is a mortal lock, Newport should win. The other games are very interesting. Lloyd seems to have peaked in the first half of the NCC game and struggled since. Although they did have a nice comeback on Holy Cross. I would favor WV in that one especially at home. Holy Cross and Gallatin Co? Well who shows up healthy and who shows up ready to play? Let's remember Lloyd beat Gallatin Co 28-0 and Holy Cross had Lloyd down 21-7 and about to go up 28-7 when they threw a crucial INT to start the Lloyd comeback. A lot depends on the health of Beal. If at full go, this one could be very contested. If still banged up, then Holy Cross does not really have alternatives.

You have to be careful when comparing scores, especially in HS football. Each team/match up is different. Just as you mentioned Lloyd being a different team, Gallatin is a different team since losing to Lloyd. That was six weeks ago. I agree, Beal is a great player.

True. I think you could put a lot of these games in a hat and on any given Friday there could be a different winner (with the exception of NCC vs Owen Co). Even Newport which is playing better was a 2 point conversion away from being beat by Holy Cross. I would say in games this close that home field may be the advantage.

Newport wins big. As for the discussion of these two districts matching up, NCC will win big. WV wins. Newport wins. Gallatin/HC is a toss up, but I will pick HC.
