  1. I like this kid and think he deserves to be on the list but his QB stats are not even as good as Lucas Witt's at LCA and Lucas is not on the list - but his teammate Domonique Hayden is with even more impressive stats as a RB. The big differentiator for Andrews is his 3 RINGS!!! Now that is impressive!
  2. As an LCA knowledgeable fan, I will tell you this: 1. Hazard had the better Line play 2. Mayfield had the better Skill players 3. Hazard's defense seemed to be more solid This is looking at 1 game played against LCA - which could be biased since one team may have had an off-day (Mayfield) - and I do agree that LCA had ALOT to do to create that situation. Hazard seemed to have much more power and Mayfield had more Finesse offensively. Let's just make amends and say its a tie for them both for 2nd best - except the fundamental issue that Mayfield gets the patch entitled "Class 1A State Football Runner-Up" to apply to their Varsity Jackets.
  3. Hayden would still be 7th and on the list...you are referring to 5th & 6th place on the list...and it does look like it is a mistake from the KHSAA record bookkeepers to me as well.
  4. Every one of the players on this team has played since at least 7th grade for LCA and most have played since Elementary. This Senior class was our 1st class of 5th/6th Grade Football players when we started our Elementary Program - Coach Rains' 1st year here at LCA. Nice try.
  5. Yes I am serious...if you know anything about Football, you would know that a forced t/o is also counted by the defensive players (DB's & LB's) making plays and being in the right position to DEFEND the passes - they tipped the balls because they were where they were coached to be to handle the passes. (it is not just pressure on the QB) I also agree with you that the Mayfield QB's arm was not as strong as you would have liked it to be - but wasnt that the same QB you all have had ALl year long helping you to average 47 PPG? Hmmmm sounds like they just met a better Defense this game than they were accustomed to seeing. IMO
  6. The difference here is- the statement about Hazard came from someone who was intimately involved with the games and saw both teams who played against LCA 1st hand in back-to-back games - not like it was comparing an early season game against the championship game...so there is credence in his opinion and take it that - it is HIS OPINION - and he is entitled to think whatever he wants. I think it doesnt really matter - to me the #2 team is also known as "2009 State Runner-Up" and I believe I saw Mayfield receive that award last night at WKU! Have a blessed CHRIST-mas Season!
  7. And watch this 1st Quarter! There were SIX Turovers in the First Quarter between the 2 teams! It was a whirlwind to try and STAT for!!! LOL
  8. Got this in an email from PLAYTRACKER...for those who would like to watch the game: http://www.kyprepspace.com/ Locate the “View More Archived Broadcasts” Then scroll down (and page to if necessary) the Dec 5th 3:00pm time frame… Then clik on the “2009 KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl – 1A Mayfield vs Lexington Christian” link This is the in stadium iMag camera view shown in the stadium during the game, with the radio play-by-play called by Gary Ball and Dougie Allen.
  9. Let it go Snake...that was a fluke play because Mayfield was loading 11 in the box to stop the run - so LCA threw the ball ONE time and now we all of a sudden they have no class? I think that is probably "sour-grapes" from fans who just watched their team get man-handled by a better team tonight - perhaps these 2 teams could play again next week and it would be much closer...sometimes the ball bounces the "right" way for the other team once in a while. Mayfield players and coaches and fans are totally impressive and everyone maintained their control throughout this game. Coach Rains is anything BUT "classless" and that is certainly not applicable here in this situation. Good luck in the off-season and perhaps we will see you next year in teh same venue - which by the way, was very nice compared to the pizza box, IMO.
  10. I was there at the game...LCA's defense SWARMED to the ball and punished the ball carriers thus CREATING the turnovers - the Mayfield team was not used to getting hit as hard as LCA was bringing it - these were Forced Turnovers. Also, the LCA players were also coached up very well and prepared for this game so they were where they needed to be when they needed to be there. If it would have been even more lopsided except for 2 blown coverages on the 2 long plays. #1 Burdette for LCA was the FASTEST player on the field...sorry to tell you that on here.
  11. You are correct - he had a terrific year and we are glad he is being recognized accordingly. He is also a GREAT young man with his head screwed on right and his life's priorities aligned where many of us wish we could be - he is a good Christian kid and has tremendous values. I wish him success which will surely follow him wherever he goes.
  12. BEWARE! That stuff is addictive! They call it Oxy-Ramtin!!!! I heard it sells for $150/pill on the street in the Ashland area! LOL
  13. Most of them dont - obviously of these candidates, only Hayden appears to b the one breaking the records and those are the records or PREVIOUS MR. FOOTBALL holders as well.... HMMMMMMMMM. Plus the Level of competition that LCA has played "outside" of their District is as strong as most of the Top 25 teams by design - to help them prepare for Playoffs.
  14. You are probably correct - didnt think about that vote-split.
  15. You are all forgetting the kid who WILL win it...Domonique Hayden at LCA. Has set KHSAA Career Rushing TDs, Career Points scored, Career TD's, etc etc etc and is an integral part of this LCA Team heading to BG this weekend. When you break all the records of previous Mr. Footballers - you must be REAL & MUST be considered and he IS a candidate. He also was named Class 1A Player of the Year by the KFCA - they know who the players are. Look it up and you will see. Plus he has had a great year again this year playing only 1/2 the games typically - much like the other candidates as well.
  16. Had a protective boot and crutches by doctor today...missed practice again today - but no fractures - severe sprain - plus he has turf toe issue as well...goes back to doctor Thursday - but he's a senior and tuff kid - so i doubt he would miss the game unless doctor prevents it...know more Thursday. this is not a good thing but Collins will be decent backup - just young (SOPH) - but he is getting reps in practice and is doing fine - just not a Dominique - but who is?
  17. Hazard team and coaches did a great job and had a terrific season! I was impressed with their physicality and toughness! We have a few guys really banged up from this game - but should have an extra day to heal them this week due to a Saturday game. 50, 51, 60, 23( we know that guy!), 12, 1, 2 and 15 all had great games and we were very fortunate to still be playing this week. Congrats Hazard on a great season.
  18. LCA only has committed 9 versus 34 take-aways on the season going into last nites game - LCA had 4 to's to Hazards 3 for a -1 margin - very unusual for LCA.
  19. Point well-taken Bluto...however, I am certainly NOT over-looking Hazard like we did last year (that is a huge motivation for our kids this year), but I am simply pointing out that Hazard really has not played anyone with the Fire-Power that LCA has to offer yet - and this should be another major victory for the Eagles...but it aint over til Bluto (err...I mean the Fat Lady) sings!!! LOL
