I am going to through out the records and how great the program is or what they did last year out the window. This is all about how good the team was playing at the end of the year and how tough the schedule was for them to get there. Now rank them off the state champs this year, because they are the best because they won it all and they are the best by far. Don't get caught up in to, yea they where good but we beat them last year and we would have this year, that my friend is a silly agument and makes no sence. Let's rank them and then tell all of us on this thread why or why not and be critical, have fun, Let's hear it.

2. Hazard 9-5 they had LCA on the ropes in a 28-35 lose

4. Crittenden Co. 10-3 give Mayfield a real test

Mayfield is the #2 team no matter what anyones opinion is. Mayfield had a bad game as they did in the Critt game which they won 31-28 after a 42-7 victory earlier. They beat 2 state champs from 2 states. To say Hazard is the #2 team is ridiculous. They may have played LCA close but they did not win and they had 5 loss's without a signature win. Maybe LCA didn't play to their full capabilities in that game. To many here vote for teams in their region instead of looking at the whole body of work which Ram you are doing in this case. One game good or bad doesn't make a season. And Mayfield's season was much better than Hazards.

I'm not just voting for teams in my region, I think Hazard is number 2. You think Hazard is number 3, that's fine, but trust me, I have compared the two, and I would say you will find a lot of people, including the LCA fans (who played both) that say Hazard was the better team.

 

You can say that Mayfield had a bad game, but wasn't LCA a little responsible for that. Raceland was a decent team this year, but when you looked at the versus LCA they looked like the bottom of the barrel. Face it, LCA was dominate this season, and no one was close.

As an LCA knowledgeable fan, I will tell you this:

1. Hazard had the better Line play

2. Mayfield had the better Skill players

3. Hazard's defense seemed to be more solid

 

This is looking at 1 game played against LCA - which could be biased since one team may have had an off-day (Mayfield) - and I do agree that LCA had ALOT to do to create that situation.

 

Hazard seemed to have much more power and Mayfield had more Finesse offensively.

 

Let's just make amends and say its a tie for them both for 2nd best - except the fundamental issue that Mayfield gets the patch entitled "Class 1A State Football Runner-Up" to apply to their Varsity Jackets.

Is Hazards whole body of work as strong Mayfield"s?

I think Beechwood sneaks in at 4.

LCA, Most talented and won on the field

Mayfield, 2nd most talent, had a bad game in finals, most turnovers all year.

Crittenden, Physical line great QB, great season

Bwood, down by their past standards but a dangerous team that could have ran table

Hazard, much like Crittenden and Bellvue, might should be rated higher but I think they belong about here given their body of work. If not for a good rally against LCA we are not having anyone question their spot.

I say your wrong on this reason Hazard was playing there best at the end in the playoffs losing to LCA 34-28 was no fluke they where the real deal. Mayfield of the other hand may of had a off night, and most say that after a total beat down 55-19. I hate to say it but Hazard was playing better at the end of the year and Mayfield was not, if there where a game for second place Hazard would have beat Mayfield by two or more scores at the end of the year when it matters the most. Sorry Mayfield fans but Hazard played it best when it matter most in the post season against the best in LCA.
