The weather looks like it will be fantastic tonight, I expect this game to be the same. I'll be surprised if this game turns out to be a one-sided game either way. I'll pick Dixie to win.

Unbelievable that some fans cannot be good sports when they win... Dixie players...this season fell short of your expectations. Seniors, best wishes post graduation. For the rest, work hard and come back next year, to your new district, ready to make a statement. Ryle players...you still can obtain your goals for this season. You have many talented individuals that are working well as a team. Stay focused on the next game. Good luck next week versus Campbell County.

I listened to some of the game online. The announcers said Murray had 31 carries for 271 yards and 2 TDs. I'm not sure he could have done much more, although there might have been a few instances in the second half when Ryle had some drives that stalled. In any event, great game for Murray and his blockers...

I've seen a couple of posts that said Ryle's play calling was pretty vanilla (or to that effect), trying to keep things close to the vest. However, in the article in the Cincinnati Enquirer today, it stated that Gray was moved to WR "to open up the offense and get Murray more carries". I haven't seen a Ryle game this year, but the article made it sound like this was a new lineup. I'm curious if this was indeed a new lineup, and if so, the motivation to reveal this change during the last game of the year instead of the playoff game. I'm not questioning the lineup change, just had a few questions pop in my head... 1) If Ryle didn't want to reveal too much, why not wait until next week for this new lineup so Dixie isn't expecting it in the playoff game? 2) Or was Ryle maybe trying to mess with the Dixie coaching staff by saying look what we may or may not do next week such that Dixie has to prepare a game plan for that additional lineup?

I'd agree that being on the winning side of a game shouldn't be a concern, but IMO making mistakes that keep the game so close should be a concern. Next time around, those mistakes may end up losing the game.

However, considering that they are out of the playoffs this year, it would be good for the program to finish above .500 again. The SK players could have given up and quit trying after they were eliminated a couple of weeks ago, but they didn't. I commend the players for their effort last week and hope they keep up the effort and finish strong this week.

This being a rivalry game, I wouldn't expect it to be a blow out. But IMO the SK offense is the difference in this game. If Scott's defense isn't able to disrupt the SK offense, and if SK avoids mental errors, SK will be putting some points on the board. If that starts happening, I'm not sure Scott's offense will be able to keep up. SK will win this game and finish above .500 for the second straight season.

I don't have specifics but my guess is a few of the players might also have spent some time during the last few years playing for Turkeyfoot middle school too. Turkeyfoot had a good team last year that played for the middle school championship (I don't recall if they won it).

All good points. For the last two years, I have been involved with the Summit View Middle School program where the kids are either slated for Scott or SK (ignoring open enrollment). I've talked to many players that were slated to go to Scott and most have chosen SK or Dixie for the reasons you have given.

I failed to acknowledge this in prior posts. Being down 38-13 at half, after experiencing an emotional drain on the interception return for a TD, the SK kids could have thrown in the towel for the second half. They didn't, and for that I commend every one of them. The hope for the playoffs may be slim, but you still have your pride to play for, so keep working hard on the areas that need improvement, and give it everything you've got for the next three weeks and see what happens. :ylsuper:

IMO, the thing that hurt the SK defense the most was the inability to make an open field tackle on the WR. After SK had cut the lead to 10-7, CC came right back with an 80 plus yd reception for a TD. Had the tackle been made, it would have been approx a 30 yd reception. That's not great to give up, but CC would still have had 50 yards of field to go, and you still have a chance to make plays. I can think of a few more WR screens and slants during the night that turned into long gains because of missed tackles, too.

Based on your scenario, I think most would say SK beating Ryle is the biggest hurdle to conquer. It is conceivable that Ryle could lose to Dixie, and CC could lose to Ryle and Dixie.

Congrats, Rebels, on getting the victory. Dixie, sounds like you played a solid game, unfortunately, the scoreboard didn't shine favorably upon you tonight. Keep up the hard work!

I have to agree that the NKY 4A playoff teams have all but been determined after tonight's games. Boone, Dixie, Ryle, and CC appear to be on the playoff track. SK is on the outside looking in. The Ryle game is a must win now for any hope to remain. To have a chance for a win, at a minimum, that is going to require a mistake free game by SK.
