  1. Be realistic here. Is it possible that Yeagle may tell one group of people one thing and another group something else? If he is smart and I am sure he is, he would want to keep his options open. By commiting to have a great interest in Conner, other schools may feel they may lose out on other candidates by waiting for him. Anyway, who really cares at this point. Conner has their man. Yeagle is at Dayton. A school with a young quality head coach. This is not to knock Dayton, but if a high profile coach were really that high in demand, he would not be sitting out a year in Dayton.
  2. Does how much success at a previous job matter? For example: Does a small "A" school that is able to play .500 mean anything to a large "AAAA" school?
  3. Does the coaches "personal" life come into play?
  4. If you were placed on a committee to interview for a head coach, what questions would you ask the candidates?
  5. I would think that Bellevue will do well with the new district. Obviously, Beechwood is the team to beat. The playoffs seem a certainty, and once you are there, a surprise or two and who knows?
  6. In cases like this, committees usualy screw things up more. It is hard enough to get people to agree on what to eat, let alone choosing the best qualified candidate. Each member has their own idea of what to look for; experience, reputation, community involvement, relationship with kids, content area of teaching, how dynamic the coach is...etc. The principal needs to just step up and choose his fate.
  7. The teaching position at Conner has nothing to do with it. At large 4A schools, they can non-renew a young teacher in the district or they can basically afford to create a class, especially if they are on block scheduling. I would have to agree with JDG, I am sure it is inepitude. They have been aware of the need for a coach since the season ended. And anybody with head coaching aspirations have already made up their mind that their future comes before the future of their present school (if not, they would not leave).
  8. Ben Wilson was an absolute terror!! I thought for sure his career was over when he went down in a scrimmage, maybe Ryle. The whole crowd heard the agony. However, he was able to recover and go on to college.
  9. They can light him up after he is hanged.
  10. Great job by the young man. Why was he a student/manager the previous years? Was there a disability that kept him from participating prior to this?
  11. I know, I know, everybody will be much improved over last year. Bellevue returns a bunch of starters and this year returns a QB that has some experience. I look for Bellevue to be ahead of Dayton and Ludlow. Brossart is the odd man out.
  12. They will get beat soundly by everyone in the district this year. And yes, that includes the likes of Dayton, Bellevue, and Ludlow.
  13. Are Brian and Jeff brothers? Two big performances in one family would be great.
  14. For me, it was the 1984 Class AA game. A real defensive battle between NCC vs. Ft. Knox. NCC was trailing with about 1 1/2 minutes and a Rob Messmer caught a TD to win the game. I believe that it was his only TD all year for the triple option NCC team.
  15. What are some of the most memorable individual state final performances that you know of? They don't have to be record setting, but should be game changing or dictated the outcome. :dancingpa
  16. I hate to go against a NKY team, but I will pick Danville in this one. NCC's usually tough defense has been a little too inconsistant in the playoffs.
  17. 1 point more than your opponent is all it takes. However, imo, Ncc will have a lot more than that.
  18. I talked to Caoch Eckstein and he stated that he "was not interested in the Conner job".
  19. The 46 put up by NCC is about what I expected. The 27 by Raceland comes as a surprise to me (please, dont be offended Raceland fans). I have seen NCC play a couple of times this year and they are very, very good defensively. So, Raceland obviously could play some offense. It was a fine year by Raceland. NCC is representing NKY Class A pretty well.:thumb:
  20. Doesn't Jeremy Fischer from Beechwood have ties to Conner? I may be wrong, but doesn't he coach track for the Cougars? What kind of considerations will he have?
  21. What kind of turf does Conner have? Coach Yeagle didn't stay at Beechwood to long after the fake stuff was put in. He probably prefers grass.
