The championships came with the "big time" talent...they had some nice players including Brown and Johnson, but the 5 out of 6 run came on the backs of those types of players paired with major DI-A and future NFL player talent. The same held true for the 2009-2010 teams which were full of excellent high school players and some small college players, but Dawson provided the get-out-of-jail card that really put them over the top. But I do concede that Boyle's run and the job Smith did is one of the greatest, if not the greatest run for a non-metro school KY has ever seen.

I also would like to note that while I keep providing statistics and historical facts, I am being combated by theories based on vague comparisons and hypothetical happenings, all standing on the foundation that all of the ideal instances take place. History doesn't agree with you all and your wishful prognosises...which is why the "Boyle Co.'s" of the world are so few and far between.

In the 1990's Boyle had a total of three losing seasons...1990, 91, and 93...the 1992 Rebels went 7-4. After that, Boyle became very competitive under Chuck Smith but really didn't get over the hump until they were hit with a major infusion of talent (the Lafew brothers, Chuck's son, Overstreet, Tamme, and several more). Taylor Co. has always had some basketball talent but those guys have for the most part never played football. Until that changes, that sudden talent infusion is not going to happen. Can they win that district next year? Maybe. But that's a big maybe. You all seem to act as though Mercer and Marion just discovered football and a "good coach" can take a perennial loser and instantly pass those two in a year's time. Be wary, those two places, where they're on, are as good as any mid-sized rural school in the state. The Jess twins, well, yeah, they kind of stink.

6 different coaches...which means 6 different approaches to running a program for the most part...over a 15 year span of time...all of which has culminated in 1 total playoff win. Yeah, it's coaching that's the problem at Taylor Co.

I find it odd that you keep coming back to this. You do know that in KY public schools the power of hiring and firing of the High School football coach as well as the staff for the high school, unless they commit some professional standards violation, is normally the jurisdiction of the HS Principal. It's odd in the first place that you have a Super whose got his hands so far into the football program. That alone is a major red flag.

Using all 44 years of your playing and coaching experience, can you draw out where I said I doubted Coach Hilton's ability as a coach? I did do a lot of questioning of the program and community's ability to live up to the high claims you have assigned to them...none of which you addressed directly other than to give your "monumental month" theory.

You think it's bad from the BG folks on here? Wait till the Higlands folks turn their attention away from the Elder's and Cov. Cath's of this year and dial their sights in on how they shouldn't be able to win with "those kind" of players...brother, this is just the warm up...

I think it has more to do with just how bad Mad. Southern was and the fact that despite MS not having their ONLY semblance of an ability to do ANYTHING, Pulaski only won 35-0 and in all honesty, didn't look much better in pads or running than that bad MS team did. That said, I again go back to my original post that Pulaski is still an excellent team that appears to play together and I think they're going to be a tough out for anyone in the East of 5A, with or without Hall. If they're not at WKU come December, count me as surprised.

I think you're hitting the Optimism Kool Aid just a little too hard. 1. Taylor Co. has yet to prove to anyone that they will be a force to be reckoned with...check these facts on the program: In the last 15 years Taylor Co has.... ...had 6 Head Coaches (new one every 2.5 years) ...played in 8 total playoff games (about every other year) ...won ONE playoff game 2. Let us not forget that this is also the place that ran off Brad Todd and his son who, you know, kind of went on to be an SEC QB...so their ability to sink a quality vessel is strong. 3. It is clearly not one of the best jobs in Central KY and the winning percentages, playoff wins, and general attitude about the program are evidence enough. When you cut through 6 coaches in 15 years, at some point, you gotta just admit that there is something wrong with a place...not to mention firing a coach mid-season in High School. 4. If the above statistics don't show you that the good people of Taylor Co. don't care about football, then nothing will. Regardless of what Hilton does, no movements are going to form on the back of a "Let's do What's Best for our Football Program" agenda. 5. In the last 17 years, Tayor Co. has made it past the first round of the playoffs twice. The 1999 team was one of those special teams that will hit a small community once in a blue moon...the only problem is that everyone forever after, thinks that that blue moon "could be the norm if we just had the right coach".

Regardless of who wins this game, I still believe that X, T, Male, and Scott Co. can all beat each other in the playoffs. If Nero was still playing, then I'd throw Manual in there as well. It's as competitive as 6A has been since 6A was formed in my opinion.

1A no way they beat Mayfield...as in ZERO chance in that game...and I would give thyem very little chance against Beechwood. 2A is reasonable. 3A no way in my mind that they beat Belfry or South Warren. I would bet heavily against them against Central and Tilghman due to the sheer speed differences. 5A I'm gonna come right out and say it...had Mad. Southern had Harris, I say Mad. Southern wins that game. Pulaski looked small and slow...and that was against a bad team without it's one-man-show. I have a hard time believing the team I watched on ESPN could beat Warren Central. That said, I do think Pulaski is an excellent football team, but a state champion quality team, beyond Hall and the receiver #2, I just don't see it.

I'd argue that Obro is 35-42 points better than Collins. They've played twice the schedule Collins has played and won against it. Not to mention, I'd say the Red Devils might have a bit of a bur in the saddle for Collins as well....though I will say, it's hard to win on the hollow turf at Collins.

I doubt seriously a lot of your big name guys play. I would bet Harris and Brown both likely won't play.

At some point, everyone is going to have to come to grips with the fact that Collins lost a boat load of 3rd year starters, two DIA signees and a phenomenal QB from last year. If Collins does make it to the Semi's to meet Obro, it will: (A) be a testament to how bad that Region is this year and (B) be a running clock.

2013 you would have had a shot 2012 Highlands would have slaughtered you...look at the common opponent score 2011 SK wouldn't have been in the top 10 in 4A, they were a joke that year 2010 Boyle and Lamar Dawson would have slaughtered y'all, Allen would have picked you up and thrown you into the stands. 2009 Lone Oak would have scored 600 on your porous defense and Boyle, again, is just a better team, better program, and consistently has had better players. 2008 I'll give it to you, you probably would have a ring.

Uh, no....it's time we all admit what is pretty obvious...Cov. Cath., for the most part, stinks. I bought in on them early, but I was wrong.

I was actually pretty impressed with ESPN's anouncers's ability to not just start cracking jokes about how bad it was.

I tried to say it tactfully but yeah, they're awful.

I think it's safe to say that Madison Southern is a marginal to below average team without Harris...ESPNU should have just moved to the Male/X game.

Highlands got demolished by Trinity...who got demolished by X...who BG beat. Highlands barely beat Campbell Co...who is not a great team, decent but not great. BG's loss against McCallie is the biggest reason though. MxPreps Freeman rankings rank McCallie 18th in the nation. BG should have won that game. That's a pretty strong trump card. NOW...should Highlands beat Elder or lose by say 1-2, I take it all back and say that Highlands would be fine against BG. I do still believe that BG is going through right now what Highlands went through from 2007-2012, which is a streak in which they're pretty tough to touch. All said, I believe Highlands would be nothing short of a red circled game on BG's schedule if they were there. I also admit I haven't seen Highlands this year and I am not accounting for how much better some posters feel they are getting.

Mayfield is to Beechwood what Highlands is to Cov. Cath. A mental barrier the size of the Wall of China.

They played BG within a TD and led for most of the game...I don't think you'd find many people on here that believe Highlands would play BG that close.

How much stock do you all put in Highlands getting routed by an average Trinity team followed by a weak win against a decent Campbell Co. team? Not saying Highlands isn't a clear top 3 team, but it now appears that their signature win was against what is quickly becoming a very bad Cov. Cath team.

I would take Manual in this game if the back wasn't out...but he is. Rocks get it done. T - 35 M - 28
