I know that Fall Break is now in full gear and a lot of posters may be out for a few days; but the much anticipated game between the Purples and the Dragons is two weeks away. Both BG and WCHS have a buy this upcoming Friday night, but Friday, October 17 the crosstown rivals will clash!!

Dragons fans are excited for the opportunity to dethrone the defending 3 time state champ Purples. The Dragons will enter the game with one of the statistically best teams they have had in several years. Chance Shanklin is slinging it all over the field, mostly to his new WR who happens to be the coaches son.

The Purples got close to breaking the state record for most consecutive wins but fell short by a couple of games. Purples fans were pleased to see that the team that dethroned them (McCallie, TN) put a whipping on powerhouse Ensworth High school out of Nashville. Dragons fans may not admit it, but they took notice of that as well.

Here is a short and sweet breakdown of the game: The Dragons will try to spread the field while the Purples D will try to put constant (and quick!) pressure on Shanklin. The Purples Offense will not shy away from their pro-style offense while inserting a steady dose of Yates and Carruthers in the running game. Additionally, the Purples hope to have Robbie Lofton back in the mix at WR. The Dragons D I feel will have an emphasis on trying to stop the run. All in all it should be a really good game.

I am sure Dragonfire will be able to give much greater detail in his breakdown of the game and we encourage each of you to do the same. Give us your thoughts, predictions and breakdown of how you think it will go down on Morgantown Road October 17. Don't be bashful!

Enjoy your Fall Break but lets go ahead and get the prediction thread rolling.

Let's hear it!

Let's hear it!

Central has to play Owensboro first. I'll be back in here with some chatter after today!

Go Dragons!

I expect this to be a knock down drag out fight to the finish. BG will be well rested and WC will be looking to make their move in the district by defeating BG. I'll be following this one closely.

I'll take BG.

BG-8

WC-7

Central is good but Holt and company for the purples defense have great speed...I think Central has a hard time moving the ball vs, BG.

BG 28-7

For me, these are the keys for the Dragons coming up with a great home win:

- They have to score first. Put some pressure on the Purples. Has BG been down all year? Only to Owensboro, but not other than that.

- LOAD the box. Make Campbell Gott beat you. I admit, I thought Mr Gott could have been a position BG really could have been lacking this year. Instead he has been CLUTCH! Has he thrown an interception? If yes, not many and none that have really hurt BG.

- the WC coaches must outprepare for BG. How is this measurable? If they are leading after the 1st Q, mission accomplished.

- Need a big crowd to be loud. These are still just kids and they can get rattled.

- Make BG kick the ball. Over the past 4 or 5 seasons, the most mistakes BG has made have been in the kicking game.

- Turnovers - you can put this for every game but especially rivalry games.

Do all of this and you can win.

What does BG have to do to win?

Have a great week of practice and go play like you have every game this year.
