I think what you're remembering is Christian County's comeback in the playoffs that year. BG led that game 10-0 but Christian County scored 14 straight in the last 90-120 seconds of the game. That one is BG's last loss to a Kentucky team and was the last loss overall before McCallie.

 

Central's win was kinda similar but not so sudden. BG led 14-0 going into the 4th, and Central scored roughly every 5 minutes at the 10 minute mark (TD), 5:40 mark (TD), and as time expired (FG) to win 17-14. By my research, it was the first time BG had blown a double digit lead in the 4th Quarter in 24 years.

 

It's crazy thinking of those two losses through the lens of the years that have come since. At the time, they had won only two of nine games that were decided by single digits, both wins coming over Owensboro. They failed to make the clutch plays in the Central and Christian County games, allowing defeat where they appeared to be well on their way to victory. For the next several seasons up to the McCallie game, that flipped. EVERY time it was close and there was a clutch play needed, they got it.

^I guess it just felt like they scored all their points at once. I remember that game the 2010 game because that is when Fant arrived onto the varsity scene. Made a couple of huge catches for the Purples.

^ I knew he was special when I saw the TD catch he made towards the end of the first half of that one. It was a turnaround catch against tight coverage in the front left corner of the end zone. Great pass, great catch. I'd already heard great things about him at that point, but that was the first time I saw it in action. Looking back at the stats, he had nearly 100 yards that game. Easily his best performance of his freshman year.

I am predicting Purples will bring their A game. Purples 42 Dragons 20.
