Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't his Ratings based off those, who attend his various camps he is involved with. Does he rate/rank those players, who don't attend?

What specifically are these enrollment numbers, you are speaking of. I'm not certain, but the KHSAA still has the 06-07 numbers posted and not the current year.

That is why the team is first and no place, for the individual. So are suggesting, if a parent works at fund raising, the Coach should base his roster spot, off that and not ability? There are not many guarantees in life, especially in the realm of High School sports. Any fund raising done for a sport, is going to help the team and that should be the only goal. I know many who fund raise for various sports, organizations, clubs and don't have student-athletes who play that sport. Trips cost money and if the obligation of the Player, to pay a portion, than I will assume he like the rest of the roster, in doing so. Some can afford it, some have to raise it and many will struggle. If the fund raising goes well, perhaps it can offset those who aren't able to.

Players and parents, from the previous season can help with fund raising. Car Washes in the summer/fall, bake sales, concessions, golf scrambles, bingo, dinners, raffles, selling t-shirts, etc...The list is endless. Who is on the roster, is not relevant to early fund-raising by the Coaches and parents.

The key to any Spring Break trip to Florida or South, is to establish a budget and fund raise well in advance, to supplement or offset any costs.

I agree totally. Most would include additional running, various timed drills which encompass all. I will assume, the separation from their peers, has/will create some uneasiness with the young men. I can relate numerous stories, about student-athletes vying for a roster spot but their talent level, wasn't suitable for that team. Adults which are the Coaches, have to handle things in a professional and direct manner. I was taught a long time ago, that plain talk is easily understood and that is the path, I travel in instances like this.

You're assuming, I'm siding with the Coach and all I'm attempting to do, is offer a reason for the Coach doing this. In the Coaching fraternity, most would handle this in a considerably different manner.

Easy guys, just trying to understand the situation and his reasoning. Don't take this wrong but nonetheless, here it is.... The reason I asked the questions, is simply he may hope they run themselves off. We've all been around coaches, who have different approaches and see a player, with more weight, non-athletic, hasn't played, too many numbers, etc. So they simply test their fortitude early on, to see commitment and even hope they leave on their own. Is it wrong, sure but it does happen at various levels of play. I can name you numerous College coaches, which take this approach and I realize this is not College but it does happen.

Just a few questions. You said Freshman year, so was that last year or did they sit out a year or so? Could he be testing their commitment to the team, in seeing their interest since everyone else was in but these young men? Just trying to get more information and let's not discuss the Coach/School...:thumb:

Spring trips and excellent opportunities, to play teams well into the mid-season. It offers outstanding weather to train, practice and get done what March weather in Kentucky, doesn't often allow. The financial commitment, is a lot on the school, families and business communities. Many will work to afford a trip, only every few years.
