BGHS puts an exclamation point on their district title in 5A District Two on Senior Night at Donaldson Stadium/Beard Field. Senior RB Tevin Barksdale scored four TDs for the second game in a row (and all four were rushing TDs...only Aaron Johnson, with five rushing TDs against Paducah Tilghman in the second round of the 3A Region One Playoffs in 2001, had more). Also, senior K "Automatic Max" Oldham shattered Casey Tinius' team record of 67 consecutive PATs and now is taking dead aim at the state record as his count now stands at 72 in a row!

The scoring parade started in weird fashion. Senior QB J.P. Jackson made an errant pitchout, but junior RB Lavance Anderson scooped up the errant pitch and returned it 55 yards for the first score. Oldham PAT #67 made it 7-0 with 9:50 left in the first qtr. At the 6:46 mark, T. Barksdale scored on a one yd plunge standing up. Oldham's new school record #68 in a row made the score 14-0. Then T. Barksdale set sail on a 46 yd scamper with 2:03 left in the first. Oldham PAT #69 made it 21-0 BGHS at the end of one.

With 9:33 left in the first half, T. Barksdale scored on a 12 yd run. Oldham PAT #70 made the score 28-0. Jackson hit junior WR Wes Cole with a 19 yd TD strike with 4:02 left in the half. Oldham PAT #71 made the score 35-0. With only 1:44 left before halftime, senior LB J.P. Wurth scooped up a blocked punt for the score. The pass for the conversion failed, and BGHS went into the locker room leading 41-0 at the half.

Only 1:17 had expired in the third qtr when T. Barksdale scored his fourth rushing TD, this time from four yds out. Oldham PAT #72 made the score 48-0, and the running clock was on. With 6:49 left in the third qtr, WR Sam Howard fielded a punt and ran it back 52 yards for the Purples' final score of the night. The run failed, and BGHS had the 54-0 lead.

With only 1:06 left in the game, Barren Co got on the board with a FG, making the final score BGHS 54, Barren Co 3.

The Purples will travel crosstown to take on Warren East next week, then hit the road to Henderson Co to close out the regular season. Then the REAL season begins as the Purples will host Ohio Co.

Sic 'em, Purple!!!:flame:

FYI, state record is held by Trip Eckerline with 73.

How many does Oldham has for his career?

Very impressive, that two players have this type of consecutive streak going, in the same season.
