I have heard that Pugh may see time on the mound. Also J.D. VanHoose will be on the mound as well. With VanHoose, Pugh, and Grimm Paintsville should have a pretty good 1,2,and 3.

A few more Tiger Classics 2002 All "A" cregional final against South Floyd. PHS won by one point and both teams shot lights out all night long. 2002 Again Paintsville and South Floyd in the regional semi-finals. PHS came back from a 26 point deficit in the 3rd quater to win by 1. 1996 Paintsville won the first two games by 2 points on there way to the State Title.

The Tiger's should be pretty pumped up for the game considering all that happened last year between these two last year. Everyone remembers the double overtime game last year in the regional opener, but in the regular season Valley beat an injured Tiger team by a sound margin and the Tigers were not too happy with a timeout called by Valley in the final seconds of the 3rd period to set up a 3 point play while they were up by 27. Hopefully Paintsville has put the S. Floyd game behind them and can come out just as hungry as they were in the Hoops Classic. Paintsville by 22.

Like others have mentioned, if you plan on playing in college, get in shape before you go. My college team could have easily double as the school's cross country team.

I always wondered why Coach Runyon played people like John Pelphery, J.R. VanHoose, and Todd Tackett, I mean it was obvious these guys couldn't play a lick of basketball. It all makes sense now, their parents paid him off. I don't think anyone has been doing much complaining and if so, I think they need to let the coaches coach. Paintsville's record since Coach Runyon took over speaks very loudly of its self.

That is your opinion, but if Pikeville's field is not ready ready for the All "A", then what school would you pick to host the tournament considering that Pikeville is the only class A school in the 15th that has a really nice field.

I am sure that 95% of the schools in the state would love to have a playing surface and overall facilities of those at Pikeville. So don't get so upset if it takes a little longer than expected to get the lights, you guys have always had top notch facilites. Be thankful, not upset.

Evarts in the playoffs and just about every single one was needed. Also he threw a TD pass to Williams in the Apple Bowl, one of Paintsville's very few highlights in that game. Paintsville lost a lot to graduation but return Pugh who will be a 4th year starter. Also they return Sublett (LB,FB) and Cantrell (S,RB) along with other players that saw a lot of playing time, VanHoose(TE/WR/LB),Bailey(LB), and Hensley© are others that come to mind. Pugh will be able to create as usual but every team will now focus on him so others are going to have to step up for Paintsville to make another run at the region. Paintsville's main area of concern will be the O and D lines. Hopefully, last years underclassmen are working hard to improve in the off season and will be able to step in and compete for positions come 2-a-days.

Charlie Hunt of Phelps made 3rd team All-State but only HM in the district.

You have to realize that this tourny is set up for the semifinals and WYMT wants the best games then because they will be on TV. It makes perfect sense to me why they draw up the games the way they do.

I doubt Harlan views Paintsville as a "gift" in the first round.

I have heard the same, that he could win any All Star Home Run contest.

Matt Runyon assisted his dad, Coach Runyon, at Paintsville this year.

Ichiro is another with 4. Vlady is another 5 tool player. Andrew Jones could be another if his average improves just a little.

I called KSHAA and they informed me that the KHSAA no longer sells videos.

Paintsville loses most of their starters from this past year. We lose 4 of 5 O-linemen and our TE and a WR. Most of our skill players are gone Brown, Ward, Doderer, and Freno are gone, but we do have Pugh and others returning.

Seems a little undersized to step in a help right away. :eek:

Paintsville-O and D lines. It all starts up front. We will have an experienced QB returning(Pugh) so a solid line would help out a lot. We also lost a lot of skill position players so some young guys are going to have to step it up next year.

For SV's sake, I hope any coach that is thinking about applying for this job doesn't read this thread. If it is as bad as many on here are suggesting, nobody in their right mind would want this job.

Harmon and Slone both made it their junior year and Harmon was selected again his senior year while Slone with his .74 ERA did not make the team his senior year and was replaced by another pitcher from Pikeville (Nick Roberts). However Slone didn't let that bother him as he went on to go 8-0 his freshman year of college with a 1.97 ERA.

:thumb: Although he had a down night against Paintsville I know he is a real good QB.

With this talent returning, I for one am glad you guys are back in 2A.
