I really don't know what outside candidates would be better than either one of them. So I would be very surprised if it isn't coach McMillen, and if it isn't him then I would assume it would be coach Barth if he wants it. Either way Ludlow will be in good hands.

I don't think that is the case at all. As we learned during the Scott opening, technically schools aren't supposed to hire new coaches until after February 1st. So that is probably why Ludlow didn't post it until February. So they followed state rules, and it allowed them to open up the position to others to see if there is anyone they may think is a better fit, and possibly for a longer term. If not, then it also would allow them to hire back Woody if they felt like he was still the best candidate, since his 90 days would be up. So I don't see anything fishy here, and more so just putting themselves in the best position to hire the best person they view for the job. Rather it be someone new who applied, or it be hiring coach McMillen back who has done a very good job in his 3 years, and should have a really good team these next two years.

I know I was one of the biggest Cal supporters on here his last few years, but my support was more on how some on here were saying Cal is a horrible coach, blah, blah, blah. Which them saying that was just complete nonsense. While he may only be an average X and O coach, he is basically great at all the other aspects of coaching, which are just as important. As we are seeing with Pope who may be a better X and O coach but seems to struggle in all the other areas needed. Calipari's career basically mirrors Pitino, who most on here consider the best coach ever. Both coaches have essentially done the exact same and won at every school they been at, in fact Cal even owns the head to head over the Pitino. So it was just non sense, how some on here acted like he was horrible. Which quite honestly even his last few years here wasn't as bad as some want to act like. He put together a couple of really good teams, but unfortunately finally fell victim to the first round upset, that he had avoided most of his career. It has happened to all coaches, but unfortunately for him it came twice in a 3 year period, and to go along with the bad covid year, it just made this fan base go nuts. With all that said, it definitely was best for both parties to move on. Cal needed a fresh start, and UK needed a fresh start too. However, as Dragonfire mentioned UK possibly may have messed up in regards to who they hired to replace Cal. Hopefully Pope can show that he can get this righted, as of right now Arkansas and Cal have gotten the better end of this divorce.

Completely agree! With all that said, I actually like their draw. I am not hopeful of a run, but the draw they got is probably about as best as we could have hoped for. As while Iowa State is really good, they also lost to UC earlier this year. So I could see a path of UK possibly making it to the second weekend again, but probably still more likely they lose this first game than making the second weekend.

I agree and disagree. The one thing I do think UK has done rather well under Pope is win the games they are supposed to win in regards to teams they are clearly better than. As they have only lost either Quad 1 or Quad 2 games, so they haven't really lost games to teams they shouldn't. As those losses weren't to teams they are clearly better than, and sadly just more at the same level as those teams. Which this game isn't against a team we are clearly better than either, so it definitely can go either way.

I would be surprised if they get a 3 seed. Only because we have seen in the past, that with the SEC championship on a Sunday, it doesn’t seem to really change seeding at all.

No doubt. Which it was best to both parties to move on. I do think people didn’t think about how him being gone, also meant missing out on getting the top talent. To many people assume the Kentucky name would still get that type of player. However, the Kentucky name only gets coaches in the door. Have to have a coach who can close. Which is what Pitino and Calipari were great at when they were here.

Calipari has now won a conference tournament title with all 4 of the college teams he has coached. Definitely very impressive by all these coaches.

I agree he definitely would have helped some, especially on defense and rebounding. However, UK only had a record of 2 and 2 in the four games he did play in.

I don’t think Arkansas is a surprise, but Vandy definitely is a big surprise.

Just a bad day for St. John’s, and one of those few good games for the Cats. Quite honestly it’s surprising that the Cats beat both St. John’s and Arkansas this year, as both are much better than our Cats unfortunately. However, it just shows in basketball anything can happen.

I am still confused why they didn't make sure they got Chenal. Especially at the price he signed up, as they could have easily got Cook and Chenal.

Its not a very exciting signing, but also isn't a bad signing either. As they literally have had zero interior pass rush, and he still is solid in that area. Which what he is really good at is pushing the pocket by driving the guard back into the QB. Which wasn't a great fit for Minnesota, as with Flores being very blitz heavy, it involved him having to stant/angle/loop etc with all their exotic blitzes, and that isn't his game. Plus with him, it should also help BJ Hill. So while I would have preferred probably a Logan Hall type who is more athletic and younger. Allen should at least help in regards to getting an interior push, which in turn helps the edge guys.

It only took the lowest seed in UK SEC tournament history for them to finally get multiple wins again. However, while it is not really much of accomplishment, it still is better than losing.

Good win and I liked how they didn’t fold at the end, after blowing the lead.

The Steelers until they get a QB, are still playing that middle of the road fringe playoff team level, that is no real threat to do much in the playoffs.

I was very happy with day one, I was not happy with day two and some of the guys they missed out on.

So Trey essentially signed for the same per year deal that Crosby had signed two years ago that is a very good team contract. Not hard to connect the dots for the real reason the Ravens backed out.

I much rather the Ravens have Hendrickson than Crosby.

This is a very bad look by the Ravens. They agreed to the trade last Friday, and then they back out of it for a "failed" physical Tuesday night after teams had signing players. Which the main reason why they probably backed out, was they saw the Hendrickson market wasn't as high as expected, and could get Hendrickson at the same per year pay that Crosby was getting which was $28 million, without giving up any picks. Hopefully this makes a lot of teams not trust the ravens and not want to work with them moving forward.

I would love to see the Bengals get Chenal, and also DT Logan Hall. He is a former 33rd overall draft pick, and is very athletic as a 3 Tech, and can play some 5 tech when the Bengals do their 3 man front stuff. Golden up until last year had always been a big blitzer and a guy who does a lot of line stunts, so getting someone athletic at the 3 tech like Logan Hall would be very beneficial. If they can get Chenal and Hall today, they are in a great spot. Still could add some cheaper veteran deals, but they would be in a good spot heading into the draft.

I don't think it was an overpay for Mafe at all, as this number was not much higher than what people were expecting. Especially when you consider how much edge players go for these days. To add more to it. Mafe has increased his pressure win percentage every year in his career. Mafe numbers wise is very similar to what Hendrickson was when the Bengals initially signed Hendrickson. Hendrickson a 10.2% win rate, 113 pressures, and 21 sacks. Mafe a 11% win rate, 161 pressures, and 20 sacks. Hendrickson signed for 4 years for 60 million. Mafe signed for 3 years for 60 million. The salary cap in 2021 was 180 million. The salary cap now is 300 million. So the salary cap is 120 million more than in 2021 when Hendrickson signed. So in reality this is essentially on par with the same contract that Hendrickson got in 2021. So not really an overpay at all, and on par with what edge rushers like Mafe would go for now in compared to 2021.
