  1. Is the district not giving Boone County the same thing as the other schools? Yes all 4 schools are part of the Boone County district, but doesn’t mean you ship kids that live next to Boone to Ryle, while a kid next to Ryle has to get shipped to Boone. People when they move into the Boone County area know which school goes with the areas. So it’s not like it hasn’t been known which school a kid will go to before moving there. That’s no different than anywhere else. Boone County district isn’t doing anything different or wrong in regards to how they district the schools. It’s the same as anywhere else, people go to schools to where they live closer to. The only option would be making it open enrollment, but I don’t know how that helps Boone at all.
  2. To me them having a higher free and reduced population than the other schools is not reason enough to move things around, and or make kids go to schools further away from where they live. While yes Boone County does have a higher free and reduced lunch compared to the other schools in the district. There are other schools in NKY alone that have even more and in some cases a lot higher of a free and reduced population and yet they still have been able to be successful at times. I definitely acknowledge that it can make it more challenging. However, Boone is not being given a harder population than some other schools in NKY have always dealt with. Yet for some reason people are more willing to use that as an excuse in regards to Boone, and never really acknowledged it with other schools. Honestly people using those reasons as excuses is the last thing students need to hear people saying.
  3. So do you think it should be open enrollment then? And do you think that would help or make it worse for Boone County? I don’t think open enrollment would make things better for Boone County High School. Or do you think they should redistrict the lines. Then what should be changed? Should kids that are closer to Ryle or Cooper, have to go to a school further away to make it more fair for Boone? I'm truly asking what should be changed that would make it better?
  4. Sorry I should have stated inner city/low income schools. However to answer your question Mayfield would be considered that and one of the most successful in the state. Then when looking at NKY specifically Lloyd is another example of a school that has been successful and just made the state semifinals two years ago even while in the same district as Beechwood that year. There are even more examples of schools that are more diverse, and economically disadvantaged than what Boone’s population is and yet have found success. Being at a diverse, low income school definitely can have more challenges. However, I hate when people act like that means it’s impossible to have success.
  5. Coach Warner did an amazing job promoting the program and getting players out. It definitely has more challenges coaching at an inner city school, and coach Warner did a great job. However, if a school is an inner city school, does that means there is no chance for success? Is the job harder? Absolutely! But does it mean no chance to be successful just because a school is an inner city school? Not at all. Sorry I just hate when people say stuff like that. Just because a school is an inner city school, doesn’t mean it can’t be successful. If that was the case then every single inner city school in the state should just fold their football program and give up. Which would be a shame since there are some very successful inner city schools.
  6. Why? With Scott also looking for a coach, a chance to win a district game is right there for both of them. Getting that first district win in years could be something really big for a new coach to build off of going forward. Plus secondly if they opt out of district play, it would be very hard to find any games. Since there is this will be the second year in many teams schedules. Whoever that new coach is focus on getting players out, do well in non district and try to get that first district win. You do that and that’s a very good building block for a new coach, and better than opting out IMO.
  7. Wagner, Reeves, Edwards, Mitchell, Ugo Dillingham, Sheppard, Theiro, Bradshaw, Big Z They literally could go with this platoon and be pretty darn good. I put Ugo in with that starting group, this way there is a shot blocker in both groups, Ugo in one and Big Z in the other. Could even have one of the two groups just practice nothing but a zone defense, just to really switch things up on teams. I know none of that will ever happen, but it’s fun to think about lol.
  8. With Big Z free, they now could truly platoon if Cal wants when Theiro is healthy.
  9. With Big Z free, once Theiro is healthy they literally could platoon again if Cal wants. They would have 10 guys who truly could play.
  10. Cooper didn’t start until 2008 and I don’t believe he was there the first year. He either started in 2009 or 2010. He was at Cooper through the 2016 season I believe.
  11. I know the Jags have to be very excited to have coach B back at Cooper!
  12. I honestly would love to see him use that lineup some too.
  13. Not true. Hopkins has been a great college player. Whitney definitely would have eventually been a good college player if he stayed in college, and same with Skal. Wagner needs to continue to start and actually seems to be getting better. Plus he is the best player at attacking the basket on the team. Which once again I don’t think it’s a coincidence the one game he didn’t play and Sheppard started was the lowest scoring offensive game of the season for UK, and was a game they ended up losing. Imo you are focused on the wrong guy in regards to who shouldn’t start. If someone is to come out of the starting lineup it should be Edwards.
  14. You are right about Edwards. However, Cal has shown he usually will start giving less and less minutes to those 5 star guys and even eventually not start or play them much if they aren’t producing much by the middle of January. We have seen that with Whitney a few years back, Skal was one of the highest recruits and ended up benched, Hopkins, etc. He does give them lots of opportunities early in the season to get better, but Cal has shown he will move off them if they aren’t producing. Honestly of Theiro wasn’t hurt, I think we would have see him starting Theiro over him by now.
  15. UK’s lowest scoring game of the season came when Sheppard started and Wagner didn’t play. It’s only one game, but doesn’t really back your thinking up. UK’s offense has been just fine all year except for the one game Sheppard started. Defense is where they need to keep improving at.
  16. Good win in a game that they did what they were suppose to do.
  17. As I mentioned in an earlier post Radford going off is what hurt. He also didn’t make a single three in this one, and probably didn’t have younger players guarding him so couldn’t bully his way to the rim as a 6th year player as he did against UK. Taylor though did have another huge game and scored 41 points. So UK not stopping him wasn’t a surprise, since he has that capability of going off against anyone.
  18. He is currently the middle school head coach at Woodland. I believe he also use to be an assistant at the varsity level at Scott, before moving down to take over the middle school program. Real good guy.
  19. It is so hard for teams that lose the Super Bowl to come back the next season it seems. It kind of makes it that more impressive that the Bengals were able to at least make the AFC title game last year after losing the Super Bowl the year before. Still crazy though to see how quickly the Eagles collapsed after starting this season 10 and 1.
