I don't disagree with you on the travel, as I am surprised they moved Ludlow out. Which is why I brought up his post up because I got it wrong. I disagreed with him two months ago, and didn't think anyway that they they would make Ludlow travel when you had other 1A teams right by them. So while I am surprised they did that, I would say Ludlow overall would be very happy with that district, besides for the travel of course. I will add its even more surprising that they moved Holy Cross out of their district too. As Holy Cross is currently in their district. So I am confused why they moved Holy Cross out too. As would make more sense for Bracken County to join the other NKY district, and Holy Cross stay. If anything it should be Ludlow, Holy Cross, Trimble, and Eminence.

While the travel would suck, I would say Ludlow would overall is very happy with the district they will be in. After years of always being in the same district as Beechwood, and NCC. I would say these last few years, and now this next realignment has been great for Ludlow. As it has allowed Ludlow to win a couple of district championships, and really get excitement growing with the football program. Which that now should only continue to go up and build for Ludlow.

We had this discussion two months ago. Great call with as you were right about Ludlow being moved out and having to travel much further now for their district games.

With the exception of having Highlands in their district. You have to really like the district for teams like Holmes, Grant County, Harrison County, and Mason County. As the Highlands game will be what it is, but besides that those four teams truly can compete for that 2 seed, and build some positive momentum.

Not true! I would say this definitely hurts Bishop Brossart and St. Henry more than it does KCD. Brossart is now moving up to 2A and will be in Beechwood's district. St. Henry is a new program, and now will be bumped up to 3A.

Great question, and I hope they plan on at least sending out a draft. I am also curious if they will switch back to letting teams request to move up or down, or if they will continue to not let teams do that.

Looking at the numbers. It looks like Beechwood is trending to being a 3A school by the next realignment. As they will be the 2nd biggest 2A school for this realignment, as they missed out being in 3A by only a few boys.

Possibly, but that doesn’t change what I posted. If you are going to use multipliers for private schools, since they would have kids from outside that area. Then same should be used for public schools. As it is the same concept. To me either you don’t do the multiplier at all, or if you do. Then you need to also use the same concept for public schools and out of district kids that attend their schools.

It honestly depends on how people think Ryle will be. Ryle just graduated a great senior class, that had been a dominant group their whole lives. Now that they have graduated, do people expect Ryle to stay at that same level? Or drop back down to how they were doing before this great senior group? As before this great senior group that came through, the games against Dixie was more competitive before that group got to high school. If people expect Ryle to drop back down now that their great senior group graduated, then I think Dixie should play them still. If people believe Ryle will continue with the success of the last few years, then I agree they shouldn't play them.

Quite honestly if they are going to do the multiplier's to private schools, then they should do the same for public schools for out of district students.

Possibly. However, I believe one reason I heard for why he left Walton-Verona was because of the travel every day from Fort Thomas. If that is true, then I don’t see him going for this. As Walton-Verona was at least a straight shot on the expressway unlike getting to Cooper.

Here is a comment on Facebook from Coach Pence the Head Coach at Walton-Verona who was a longtime assistant at Cooper: I want to take a moment to recognize and thank Coach Borchers for everything he has done over his many years of coaching, and everything he has done for me! Coach Borchers coached me for all four years when I was in high school, back when he was a young assistant. Even then, he was one of the hardest workers on the staff and stayed loyal through some tough years. In my time as a player, only two coaches remained after those first three seasons—and he was one of them. He stuck it out and played a major role in helping turn the program around. Not many young coaches would do that, but that’s who he was then—and still is now. Did he yell at me and push me? Absolutely. Did that mean he didn’t care? Not at all. I still remember walking off the field after my senior year playoff loss. As tough as that moment was, he put his arm around me and talked me through it. That’s something I’ve never forgotten. That relationship didn’t end after I graduated. Even if time passed while I was in college, any time I reached out for help or had questions, he was always there. Then, ten years later, he reached out to me to come coach with him and helped put me on a path toward becoming a head coach—something I had always wanted to do. I learned a lot from him as a coach, but even more as a person. What most people don’t see is everything he has done behind the scenes to build Cooper into a first-class program. The long nights, the sacrifices, the time away from his family—he did it all to make sure things were done the right way. Anyone who truly knows him knows he would do anything to help someone else. He’s not someone who seeks attention or recognition—he just does the work because that’s who he is. As coaches, we all understand there will always be opinions, criticism, and people who disagree. That comes with the job. But a lot of what has been said over the last couple of years simply doesn’t reflect who he truly is, and I’ll leave it at that, as I am not looking to get in a back and forth with anyone who may disagree. When you talk to high school football coaches across Northern Kentucky, there’s a common theme—Randy Borchers is one of the best and most respected coaches around. One of the biggest compliments I’ve always heard is that his teams consistently played their best football at the end of the season, regardless of talent. That’s the mark of a great coach. While some may welcome change, I think people will quickly realize that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Coach Borchers built the Cooper program from the ground up. Within five years, they were playing for a state title. Two years later, they were back in the state semifinals, and competing in 6A, they were just one play away from another regional title. In just 18 years of existence—three state title appearances and four regional championships. That’s an incredible run, and one that will be hard to match. Coach, congratulations on an amazing career. Thank you for everything you’ve done—for your players, your coaches, and the entire community. Just know there are many more than not, who truly appreciate everything you have done! Love ya coach! Enjoy some well-deserved time with your family and your soon-to-arrive grandchild.

I would say when you lose one of the best coaches in NKY, who literally built that program from the ground up. That it would have an impact, as you knew he would get the most out of his teams. We shall see what happens next with the Cooper program, and who they hire, as they will have big shoes to fill.

Big week for coach Pope and the Cats. They have some players coming in that could make a huge difference, if Pope can lock them in. We have seen other schools, including another school in our state in Louisville get a few big names in the last few days. let's see if Pope can close the deal, and get a few of these guys locked in.

I guess we will find out soon in both cases on how well it will work out.

I keep seeing more mocks where Bain is still there at 10. So I would have him at one, then Styles, then Downs. Which honestly if Bain or Styles isn’t there. Then I would look to trade back even before taking Downs. If you could possibly get more picks. Then you could still get possibly one of those corners, the Oregon Safety, or a DL still.

I think the complete opposite. Which Dan Hurley said it best the other day. He was asked when looking at brining players in. Is he looking at guys who are more sound offensively or defensively. He said he has learn to always go for the offensive guy. As a lot harder to teach a defensive player to play offense, than the other way around. Which is something he learned, because he use to go for those high effort defensive guys. He did say obviously it’s good to have a high effort defensive guy. However, when choosing now he will always go with the offensive guys if having to pick. Which honestly I think Pope tried to do that this past season. He tried to get more athletic and be better at defense. Yet as we seen his offense didn’t look nearly as good. If I am Pope I lean into offense and getting guys that fit his system offensively. I do believe he has a coaching spot left open still. I would try to fill that spot with a coach who is known to be a great defensive coach that can teach it.

They had 19 freshman last year, and currently have 17 incoming freshman who have regularly been attending off season weights. So number wise they have good numbers. In the freshman class last year out of those 19, ten were first year football players. So still a lot of learning and improving to do now in year two of playing football for many of them.

That makes sense. As I heard a few weeks ago his wife wanted to get back to living in Utah. So I bet the only way he would have stayed would have been if UK gave him a huge pay day.

Correct on Roy Williams, which he would be more the exception. As he was part of the UNC family, as UNC only hired their own. Now Calipari hiring doesn’t go against what I said at all. As Memphis didn’t make the final four the year before UK hired him.

You obviously take a swing for Hurley, Mays, etc first. However, to me these three coaches should be guys the blue blood schools like UK, Kansas, etc should look at, if they are looking for a coach next year. There were plenty of other accomplished coaches out there that UK probably could have got. However Mitch decided to settle and go with a former player with no resume.

The Bulls just fired their GM. So there is a chance that Donovan won’t be with the Bulls next year. If he ends up taking a year off, then I think it’s a very real possibility.
