  1. I mean yeah still a great season for Louisville and could playing for a conference title still. More so ruining any small outside chance of something bigger.
  2. Glad to see Michigan didn’t let OSU off the hook and allow them to come back to win like Notre Dame did earlier this year. The OSU faithful must be getting restless now with Ryan Day after 3 straight losses to the team up north.
  3. Great win! Always nice beating Louisville. Especially with ruining the season Louisville was having. With that said, Definitely always interesting seeing your reactions and how you view things for UK Football compared to your views on basketball. For football seemed content with slightly better than average.
  4. Agreed. I thought sportsmanship on both sides last night was great. Was just hard fought game with both teams leaving it all on the field.
  5. Hopefully this prediction goes the same as your prediction in the Highlands/Cooper prediction thread.
  6. Cooper on offense only returned 4 guys who started offense last year. With also having a whole new offensive line as Jack Lonaker transitioned from starting fullback to line to help the team. On defense they only returned 5 defensive starters from last year. The big thing obviously though is the guys they did return were some top players. Which Cooper returns most of the team next year. As only 3 seniors start on offense and defense, then a senior at kicker too. So Cooper actually may be a year ahead of schedule, with what they have coming back. With that said nothing is guaranteed for next year, and the State Championship now is right there in front of them to take. They have to now go out and play one more great game and win it all against a great Bowling Green team. Go Jags!
  7. What a great game with a roller coaster of emotions for both teams! Two great teams on the field tonight, and literally came down to the very end. Didn’t matter the cold weather, both teams left it on the field tonight. This was very easily a state championship type of game, even though it was the semi-finals. Congrats to Highlands on a great season. Cooper has now knocked off 3 one seeds in a row. However, one more one seed left to go in a great Bowling Green team. Cooper has before played in the state championship game in both football and basketball and in both games they lost to Bowling Green. So hopefully third time will be the charm now for Cooper and they bring home the 5A State Championship to NKY next Saturday Night.
  8. Cooper’s running game has came to life after not doing to much the first half of the season and that first Highlands game. Sophomore running back Keagan Maher only had 3 run attempts in that last Highlands game. Since that game Maher has ran for over 800 yards over their last 7 games and one of the leaders in the state in touchdowns. He has also had real big games the last two weeks against Scott County and Southwestern. Maher has made teams pay if they give a light box to try to stop the passing game of Cooper.
  9. 2014 a very good team that blew out their opponent in the regional championship before losing to Pulaski County in semifinals. Then basically returned the whole team in 2015 when they made the jump to 6A and lost in the regional championship to Simon Kenton on the last play of the game when Cooper went for a two point conversion to win the game that SK stopped.
  10. Cooper has been in the state semi’s twice before this year. In 2012 they won their game and then lost a good game to Bowling Green in the state championship. Then in 2014 Cooper lost at Pulaski County in the semi-finals. (I guess I should have kept reading before replying. I see that you already had your question answered lol)
  11. Not pretty at all. However, games like this are games they lost the last few years. Especially after a team hits a shot to take the lead in the final minute like St. Joseph’s did. This would have been a loss the last couple years. So nice job finding a way to get the win.
  12. Which not having much talent would be the coaches fault correct? In today’s world of free transfers, NIL, etc. It’s not hard for a new coach to come in and literally flip a whole roster to get the team he wants and be competitive. Especially at a school like Louisville, they should be able to flip a roster pretty quick to get talent in. So if saying still no talent in year two, then you do have to look at the coach for that. I love Kenny Payne and I hope it works out. However, sometimes a great assistant coach doesn’t translate to being a good head coach. We will see how the rest of this year goes.
  13. I said it at the beginning of the year. That Covington Holy Cross preseason ranking of being in the top 10 still baffles me lol With that said I think this will be close in the first half, and then Raceland pulls away to win comfortably in the second half.
  14. I think most people agree that the RPI formula is flawed, and has been discussed on here before. With that said no matter what rating system is used, whoever is the number one team at the end of the regular season is going to given the “easier” path. It’s no different than other sports, the one seed is granted what is supposed to be the “easier” path. Highlands earned their path based off their regular season getting them the one ranking. Cooper earned their path here by knocking off two one seeds so far along the way. Both teams have earned their way to this opportunity, and should be a great game.
  15. With Burrow I think the Bengals would have won at least 5 of those games if not more. Without Burrow, I think they get 2 or 3. Since they aren’t winning a Super Bowl this year. I would love for them to give some of the young players more time like Yogi and Jones at WR. Murphy on the d line, and let Battle get all the reps at safety over Scott. I would be perfectly fine if they lost every game and get a top 10 pick and then try to start a new window next season.
  16. The crazy thing is the bengals use to be really good at drafting lineman. However, even since they completely missed in the 2015 draft when they took two tackles in the first two rounds, they have struggled in that area. Which at least in regard to recent history, I put a lot of the failure on the line struggling now on the line coach. Zero reason for them to still be this bad.
  17. I think the organization has tried to fix the line the last two years. Bengals signed and paid free agents Karas, Cappa, Brown. Jonah was a first round pick. Used a second round pick on Carman. Another draft pick on Volson. Bengals currently pay the 6th most money in NFL on the Oline. So at this point it’s not that they aren’t trying to invest in the line. At this point I think they have to make a change with the Oline coach. They have put different pieces on the line and it’s still an issue. So I think they have to stop being loyal and make a change there. Pollack was also the Oline coach when they drafted Billy Price in first round. So his evaluations of lineman and his coaching is simply not cutting it. You have to try to make a change there. Also I wouldn’t compare it to Tim Couch. Couch simply wasn’t a good pro QB. Burrow had had success in the league, even while getting beat up every week.
  18. Nice win by Cooper tonight. Cooper didn’t play their best game, but made the plays when it mattered. Which a lot of credit goes to Southwestern for giving Cooper all they could handle tonight. I know a lot of people were predicting some crazy scores tonight in the prediction thread. However, this Southwestern team is a very good team. They have been right there with other top teams too this year. Southwestern lost by 3 to Ballard who is in the 6A semi-finals. Lost by 1 to Franklin County who is in 4A semi-finals. Lost to a top 5, 5A team in South Warren in a game that was 31 to 28 going into the 4th before South Warren scored 2 late touchdowns. So credit to Southwestern on a great season.
  19. I have a hard time calling him injury prone. Especially since he hasn’t missed a game since his ACL tear until now. Plus his ACL tear was on a hit that would tear anyone’s knee up. Then his appendix blowing is just a freak thing. Now the two injuries this year is a little annoying, since both happened that didn’t have much to do with a hit or anything that did it. So to me this year is the first year that he has had the type of injuries that could lead to the injury prone label. However, with just this one year I’m not ready to put that label on him yet. It’s honestly quite amazing that this will be the first games he has missed due to an injury, since his his ACL. The amount of hits he has taken behind this line the last few years, would lead to many QBs missing many more games.
  20. I don’t know if there is a chance he comes back if they somehow make the playoffs. However, with that said you almost want them to lose out now for a higher draft pick and build for next year.
  21. Just reported that he tore a ligament in his wrist and done for the season. Ugh. 😥😥😥
  22. I wouldn’t say that’s obvious. Much like many of the Highlands fans probably wouldn’t say CovCath is still better than them, since they beat them at the beginning of the season.
  23. I would be shocked if this is a running clock. As I stated I honestly think Ludlow wins. Does anyone know what the weather will be like down there tomorrow. If it rains, I think that would also favor Ludlow and their run game.
