I don't think anyone said coaches are right all the time and parents are villians. There are some coaches that don't belong in the profession. There are also parents who dont belong in the parental profession and need to worry about what their kids do off the court more so than what they do on. They also need to quit blaming the coaches for all their troubles and faults. Ryle may end up in better hands than Coach Niemi and they may not. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. From the way it sounds they better hope they get a specific coach from St. Henry to fix their troubles. Now can we get back to candidates for the job?

:laugh: :cry: Unfortunately most of the time the parents do more harm than good. It's sad but true. Problem kids=problem parents. Get over it and move on.

The longer they wait to hire a coach the easier it is for Bob Seiter to hire himself. With Sanders and Seiter there I bet there aren't many cookies left in the cookie jar.

With this list the only coaches that make sense are Faust or Henley. The dominos could fall- Holmes or St Henry could open up. Things could get interesting in the 9th region.

I see Coach Henley from Holmes getting this job. Any thoughts?

Beechwood will play better defense today and play for the title tomorrow.

So does this mean the district will set up with #1 Holy Cross vs. #4 Holmes #2 CovCath vs. #3 Beechwood Could possibly have the top 2 teams in the region playing in the first round of the district.

Perfect example- Boone Co scored 14 runs in the top of the first inning against Scott the other day. Do they stop stealing in the 2nd inning knowing how good of a hitting club Scott is? I know there is a fine line and every coach has been on the short end of it at one time or another. Boone ended up winning 21-10 but Scott scored 6-8 runs in the 4th inning or so. Baseball is a weird game and weird things happen. Thanks for your posts?

Had a guy tell me the other day that a coach chewed him out because he was still stealing and sacrificing runners up 6 runs in the 5th inning. Wouldn't you want to run rule a team if given the opportunity? Is 6 runs enough? I would think 10-12 runs you would stop stealing and not try to embarrass another team. What do you think?

Why wouldn't NCC open the job up? I know they are loyal but there are a few very good coaches who would be interested in the job. Not sure Grant is ready for this move. Unless Ron Dawn joins him on the sidelines.

Our situation just wasn't just playing time. My sons coach was very intense and expected alot out of his players. This particular coach ended up teaching my son a life lesson. You have to work hard and listen for everything you get. My son learned that he had to work hard in the business world and if he didnt listen and learn from his bosses/employees he would feel their wrath. Unfortunately, parents today don't understand there is more to coaching student athletes than basketball, baseball, football or whatever sport they are coaching. They are trying to make the kids better people for their future. In a lot of ways coaches are better parents and better role models than their actual parents.

I have had a situation similar happen. I told my son to handle it with the coach. I didn't think it was the best interest of my son or the team to handle it myself. I was not at practice everyday to see what went on and if my son deserved to play more or to see his attitude on the court. Honestly, the bottom line is this- Most parents put their sons on a level they truely aren't on. Some kids have very bad attitudes on the court. They listen to their parents too much who bash their coaches constantly and think they know more than the coaching staff. This is a main reason that kids today are so uncoachable. I told my son to work harder and listen better. This seemed to work out the problems with the coach. Unfortunately, this isn't the way things are handled today and things escalate like they did with Coach Niemi at Ryle. I wonder how much Coach Niemi has done for this one particular kid through the year with basketball and also outside of basketball. If I were a coach today I would totally distance myself from the parents and only worry about the players and what happens to them.
