Talking to Gatrell after the game. He said the called ball 4 was no doubt a strike. He was looking for a curve and was frozen by the fastball.

Call it what you want. Im proud of what our boys did this year. Thats why I'm mad about the calling.

Congrats to the Boyd players. But, they get an assist from ole blue behind the plate. Anyone that was at the game knows what kind of game he called. TERRIBLE. Raceland walked 7 batters in the 6th and 7th innnings. And this from a pitcher who had only walked 3 batters all year. The ball 4 call on Gatrell that tied the game in the 6th was awful. He looked at the ump with a surprised look too. it was belt high and Darby never moved his mitt. Right down the pipe. Errors did allow the 4 run 5th inning for Boyd, also with help from a blown call at second on a stolen base. The right call would have gotten Raceland out of the inning with 0 runs. That ump needs to finally retire. The people of Raceland are proud of our boys. They fought hard all night. It's a shame the ump behind the plate had to be so bad.

Rams spread the hitting out. Ashland's Bias kept Raceland off balance with his curve. The story tonight was defense. Ashland only had a few hits , but got a lot of base runners via the walk. Ram defense made some nice to plays to get out with little damage. Darby picks a runner off first to get out of a base loaded situation. Miller made 3 nice catches in center and threw a runner out at 2nd . Tolliver made a diving catch at short that ended an inning. Ram defense probably played its best game of the season. Reynolds or phillips will be on the mound for Boyd. Raceland will need the good defense again to have a chance. Good luck Rams, bring it on home. :banana: :banana: :banana:

Rams still have Phillips, Reynolds,Morgan , and Miller to back Grizzle up. Rams hit the ball well tonight. Miller was 3-4 with a double and RBI and Phillips was 2-4 with 3 RBI's.

Russell will roll. Will be a mercy win.

Russell outplayed the Rams. They simply wanted it more. Congrats. Taylor kept the ball low and Raceland could do nothing with it. Good luck to both teams in regionals.

I'm not saying it doesnt matter. Every parent supports their child. After checking it out more, Paige was on the '99 team at Knott. But that team didnt win state. I would never slight any child , but in post 12 you said a girl was on the state winning team. There wasnt one. By the way TBF, the 10 yr. old team in '98 also had 9 years old on it. It's these 9 yr. olds that won it again in '01 as 12's.

She may had been on the team between the 2 state winners. But she wasn't on the '98 or the '01 teams. I know without a doubt. You know the coaches, ask them. But who really cares. Raceland is playing great ball now. Let's hope they keep it up and play strong in districts.

Raceland won it in 1998 as 10 year olds, then some were on the the team that won it in 2001 as 12's. The 2001 group won some games in the regional in Georgia. Raceland had no girls on either team. I know the years are right because I coached the first team.

Rams get a strong pitching performance from Scoot Grizzle to get the win. Grizzle struck out 7 and allowed only 3 hits. Tyler Gatrell gets the loss for Boyd. Rams get 3 runs in the 4th and only allowed 1 unearned run to Boyd in the 7th off of Morris. Rams improve to 21-8. Matt Phillips led Raceland with 2 hits. :dancingpa

Rams get win number 19 on the season. Raceland out hits Rowan 12 - 4 , led by Carver's 3-4. Also for Rams, Tolliver 2-3, Boyles 2-3, and Phillips 2-4. Grizzle was the starting and winning pitcher for Raceland. :dancingpa

Rams get good pitching from Aaron Morgan and Nathan Reynolds for the win. Brad Laney homered for Lawrences only run. Reynolds gets the win in relief. Raceland scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th. Peyton Martin got the key hit, a 2 RBI single. Rams were led in hitting by Darby's 2-3 and Carver's 2-2. Raceland improves to 17-8.

Rams get good pitching from Phillips and N. Reynolds, holding Fleming to 4 hits and a run. Raceland busted the game open with 7 runs in the 6th. The Rams got 3 triples and a double in the inning. Raceland was led in hitting by Miller (3-4),Tolliver(2-4),and Martin (2-3). Rams get 12 hits in all. This runs the winning steak to 11.

Raceland has issued 54 walks. It would take a while to look up how many scored but I'll look.

Our pitchers love coach Hall. They all try and learn from his knowledge of pitching. Ramsey is a good coach too, but he left , these boys are happy to have Hall. He is a very good teacher of the game.

I guess it's the luck of the Tomcats. When was the last time they had to beat a good team to advance to regions? No disrespect to Rose Hill, but Ashland always seems to draw the weakest team( basketball or baseball).

Raceland has given up 37 unearned runs in 22 games.

Wow, am I surprised.

Raceland improves to 15-7 and gets their 10th straight win. Aaron Morgan pitched 5 scoreless innings for Raceland to get the win. Freshman Shawn Reynolds pitched the last 2 innings, giving up 3 runs (2 unearned). The Rams pulled a triple play in the 4th inning when Chesapeakes Baise bunted a ball in the air to the pitcher. Chesapeake had runners moving. Morgan throws to 1st and then Martin throws to 2nd for the triple play. Raceland got 3 hits from Tolliver and 2 from Deskins. Keep it up Rams. :ylsuper:

Raceland's Scott Grizzle gets the win for the Rams, and Brandon Williams takes the loss. Raceland got timely hitting from Tolliver and Phillips to plate enough runs for the win. Grizzle pitched a no hitter into the 5th inning. Adam Cannoy broke it up with a hot shot to third. Grizzle tired in the 7th and gave up 2 unearned runs to set the final score. This was Raceland's 9 straight win. Williams had 2 hits for Ashland.
