Franklin County Coaching Update?
Its not the football team's weightroom. It is the athletic fieldhouse. Football is not the only sport that lift weights or uses the fieldhouse at FCHS or at any other school. If football is the only team that lifts weights at your school, please send me contracts for every other sport at your school. I will make sure every sport's team in Franklin County signs up your high school's teams.

Franklin County 71 Western Hills 38
Coaching staffs decide the all-tourney team, but the MVP vote is by the media. In this case the reps from the state-journal and woodford-sun decided the MVP for the 41st District.

Franklin County 71 Western Hills 38
Maybe in fantasyland the refs gave County this Game. FC beat Hils by 24 and 35 in the two games during the regular season and then by 33 tonight. FC won because they are just better than Hills! Hills deserved the Technicals they got. Cheaps shot, mouthing, they argued every call. That is what teams do when they are desperate, and tonight was just that. I will agree with the statement the Western Hills stood no chance, but it was not after the refs made or didn't make a call. They stood no chance when the game was scheduled!

District Championship Games
It depends some on your region. I wouldn't want to be a runner-up in the 11th and have to face one of those champs in a 1st round region game.

Scott County 79 Henry Clay 69
Yeah go ahead and mail them the trophy. I am sure no one can challenge them in the wimpy 11th region.

Franklin County Coaching Update?
The are getting their work in. The school system is not killing the program. They had 75+ kids out for football last fall, and finished the season with around 30 players. I don't think that is a reflection on the school system allowing softball to use the weightroom a few times while the weather is cold.

Barrett Meyer scores his 1000th point
Barrett scored his 1000th career point for Franklin County tonight against Frankfort in the 41 District Tournament!

Franklin County Coaching Update?
The only happens when softball or baseball is in season, and football is not. It is because in the FC fieldhouse, the batting cages and the weight room are in the same room. If you have 50 football players, and 30 softball players in the same room it can get extremely chaotic. Football is not getting the shaft at FC. They get as much support as any other sport, and they are the #1 priority when they are in season.

Someone in a previous post talked about the award given out at Rupp Arena. that is what I referenced.

10th Region POY
The KABC player of the year honor that is given out at the state tourney is for seniors only in every region. The winner and runner-up in each region are invited to play in the KABC East-West All-Star game that is played at Transy between the state semis and finals on championship Saturday. Here is the KABC website link, and then you can click on player of the year to see past winners: http://kentuckybasketballcoaches.org/

10th Region POY
I watched Franklin County play all 3 schools mentioned above, and I would give the nod to Middleton as the best.

Anyone know the dates for the semis and finals of specific regions?

Assigning officials to regional tournaments ...
I agree with most of what you said, but this last part I highly disagree with. The officials often "don't put their past in season and district and regional exeriences behin them" and call games with a chip on their shoulder and hold grudges because of those experiences. I think it happens both ways between the coaches and officials, and it is equally happen on both sides of the issue. Going out of region would ensure that these grudges don't affect the kids getting the best possible officials for their games.

Assigning officials to regional tournaments ...
You are never going to have the best officials doing the regional semis and finals, because of all the scratches that coaches are given. It is never going to be the top guys calling the top games. If you go out of region, you will get the other region's best guys for the semis and finals.

Assigning officials to regional tournaments ...
I know a few who are on the other side of this argument, and the sentiment is growing!
