westsider Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Which region's officials are working the various regional tournaments? The 1st Region usually gets either the 2nd Region or 3rd Region officials. Anyone know what the rotation is this year?
IMOM Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 12 and 14 switching, along with 13 and 15 I believe.
Jim Schue Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Haven't heard who the 5th is swapping with.
bcd00 Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 The Bluegrass Basketball Association is staying in Region (AS USUAL)10 and 11. Talked to one of the coaches in the 16th and they said they get the 9th region and the 9th region gets the 16th. Heard the 7th is staying in but the 6th is going out. Kind of wierd..:confused:

highschoolsportsfan Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I think the 16th and 9th are switching officials this year. Really haven't heard much about it!
gold sunrise Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I know a few of the 10th and 11th region coach's and they tell me they would never vote to let the BBA go to another region. I am glad we are not switching.:thumb:
bcd00 Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I am glad we are not switching.:thumb: Goldie, Like Sportsfan said, there are all kinds of coaches in both regions that shoot down the idea of swapping out for the regional tournament. They like the BBA officials and know how they call and what they are going to get when they walk on the court. They feel they are the best and don't want to risk a different style when it counts most:ylsuper:
Your Daddy Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I know a few of the 10th and 11th region coach's and they tell me they would never vote to let the BBA go to another region. I know a few who are on the other side of this argument, and the sentiment is growing!
bcd00 Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I know a few who are on the other side of this argument, and the sentiment is growing! Several of the officials I know would like it if they could go out for the regional.:sssh:
Your Daddy Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Several of the officials I know would like it if they could go out for the regional.:sssh: You are never going to have the best officials doing the regional semis and finals, because of all the scratches that coaches are given. It is never going to be the top guys calling the top games. If you go out of region, you will get the other region's best guys for the semis and finals.

If the officials go out you would have the best six and the best three doing the semis and the finals respectively. If only the coaches would put their past in season and district and regional experiences behind them, then the kids would get their best. But as it stands now, the scratches are honored and you don't always get the best. My official friends tell me they have lost games in the regional semis and finals that they deserved because of a coaches scratch. They work hard all year as do the coaches and teams only to get rewarded and then taken away because one of the officials did their job during a game.:isurrender:

The officials often "don't put their past in season and district and regional exeriences behin them" and call games with a chip on their shoulder and hold grudges because of those experiences. I think it happens both ways between the coaches and officials, and it is equally happen on both sides of the issue. Going out of region would ensure that these grudges don't affect the kids getting the best possible officials for their games.

I will also agree partly on both sides of this issue as most times the official doesn't have that opportunity to put behind them because they are scratched. Then I see your point as the official having a chip on their shoulder. Going out would solve all their problems. Coaches and officials. Cant wait for districts and regionals to start to see who goes where. Best time of the year. :walk:
