  1. Well, after Mayfield's performance against em, you got to admit, it wasn't looking good. This is going to really hype up the rematch against these two teams, provided they win against Ballard. I am not sure what would happen if Crittenden loses against Ballard, would that be some kind of 3 way tie?
  2. I think its a great thing for athletics and our state's economy to move it around. I know they won't fool with basketball ever, just too perfect in KY. But the Western Part of the state will get some love for a change and I can see a lot of folks going to the game that just haven't ever been due to the drive. With that cutting my drive in half I can see myself showing up to at least one of the nights games. I just believe it will help our state more than hurt it. If a facility became available like commonwealth stadium, I wouldn't object to it going there for a couple of years either, spread the love around I say!!
  3. This could definitely throw some interest back into class 1A in the West.
  4. Yeah, I'd say the first string could have stayed home.
  5. Tilghman is better than their record shows, they have some of the same junk going on that has plagued this Mayfield team. We (Mayfield) were just fortunate enough to come out with the win. The new offense is working, not sure why we went away from it in the Crittenden game, but it was there for at least the first half of this game. Our defense laid off in the third quarter but came up with the big stops when we needed em, the big 2 point conversion stop was HUGE for us. The game lived up to its expectation and hype. I believe that this Tilghman team will turn the season around just like they did last year.
  6. Wow, its Wednesday and there isn't a single thread about this game. I guess everybody is feeling down about these two teams. I just read on Paducah sun that Paducah may be having to forfeit their only win to Webster county due to an academically ineligible player, how sad. If thats the case these two teams will be coming in to Friday nights game with a combined record of 1 and 8, this is a historical time in the history of these two programs. Hopefully it could be the turning point in the season for both and we will see a truly good game. I of course will be cheering for Mayfield and I think they could have the edge based on what I have seen this year in this team. This game could boil down to which team wants it more.
  7. Well, the Tilghman-Mayfield game should be pretty packed with Graves on a bye week, I have heard several Graves fans say they are coming.
  8. You know, I was thinking the same thing, I read on here so many times where people are just listening or they heard about the game. I don't understand it anymore, the fan base has gotten really bad at all HS football games I have been noticing. Mayfield's fan showing was one of the worst I have ever seen and on the Crittenden side, it wasn't much better. Really sad IMO, it takes some kind of rivalry or something really special to bring out good crowds these days. I was kinda thinking with the economy the way it was folks would stay in town and go to games but I guess the interest is just not there.
  9. Well, I am sorry, maybe the 93 team started out their first games losing? I didn't really start watching Mayfield football till the year 2000.
  10. Ok, we get it, you didn't like the call, how about 1 penalty all night for Crittenden?? I know you guys weren't perfect, that's all I am saying. Can you say sore winner?
  11. It was 1993, they had a losing season (don't remember the record, maybe someone can clue me in on this) and they wound up winning state. It was still a different time and team back then, not saying it couldn't happen with this team, only time will tell.
  12. I have been very humbled in the past 2 years as a Mayfield fan, my how things have changed. But none the less, congrats to the Rockets, you played exactly as I expected and deserved this win. I hope this loss is just what this Mayfield team needs to get things going, time will tell.
  13. I had noticed that they got blown out by Boyle which I am guessing doesn't have a bad team this year but that big of a blowout? Doesn't seem like Danville football. Then they get beat by George Rogers Clark, which I don't mean to offend anybody but I haven't ever heard of as being a football giant. Is Danville suffering from some of the same attitude problems that Mayfield is? Whats the scoop here Danville folks? I am sure TitleTownClown or AdoptedAdmiral can shed some light on this for me.
  14. It all depends on which Mayfield team shows up, if the one that shows up to the Graves game shows up, it should be a victory. But if the Ballard game team shows up, anything can happen IMO. I expect the coaches to have these kids fired up for this game, it probably helps to be coming in with a losing record. I expect Crittenden to be especially fired up with such a close game last year in the playoffs, I imagine they have been preparing for this game ever since then. The winner of this game gets homefield advantage in the playoffs. If Mayfield loses this game, there will be some travel time involved for sure. I would hope that since its Mayfield's first home game, they will be in their element and really show what kind of team they are.
  15. Big win for Crittenden, I think that most thought it would be a close one but it doesn't even seem to be that way. Looks like its setting up to be a potential shootout at War Memorial this coming Friday.
  16. I only saw Murray play Calloway in the season opener and they looked to have a pretty solid running game, they were in the lead deep in the 3rd quarter. I just thought that Murray was turning things around.
  17. I am kinda surprised to see Trigg come up with the win, I guess this is somewhat of an upset?
  18. Amazing how turnovers can just wipe away great drives and totally change the outcomes of games.
  19. I hope they schedule Mayfield next year, I think we could have the potential to compete. Heck, we're the only team so far to be ahead, lol.
  20. I agree, they looked very impressive from what I saw in the Mayfield game, their backups would make a great team, lol.
  21. Wow, I am kinda surprised with this score, anybody got any details?
  22. I just think that leaves room to look like you are giving an advantage to one team or the other. I just can't see why you would let a team "Play to their own level". I think we all just want 25 seconds for everybody, nothing longer or shorter. It makes for a team that just wants to grind the clock out that much easier later on the game. I am all for the 25 second play clocks.
  23. Good post 'pick, but I will have to disagree with you on the Hispanics, if you notice, we have a few that are starting to play in the elementary levels and are quite good athletes and they come from very good homes from what I am seeing. On the academics note, Graves may score higher on the standardized tests, but year after year Mayfield gets more scholarships percentage-wise. I've always appreciated the smaller class size that is offered at Mayfield. Some other interesting things I have been told, the size of the high school has actually increased past 400 kids, which it hasn't been in quite a while, this could be due to the influx of Hispanics in the area. Also, I am told that there are around 80 kids in the 4th, 5th and 6th grade levels playing right now and the coaching staff cannot get any of em to quit, which says really good things about the future of the football program. We all have been hearing about the 8th grade class and I have seen them play with my own eyes and their defense is on par with the high school teams'. Those boys seem very disciplined. Just some interesting things I have learned over the summer.
