Yes! They said it was a "legendary" mountain basketball coach. There are not many that would meet the legendary status.

Good to see my Eagles in the top ten. They're playing pretty good ball right now and could be dangerous at in the district and regional tourney, if they keep it up. Coach Starns is doing a great job!

I really have to hand it to Coach Starns. He did a wonderful coaching job. He coached so that they would have the opportunity to win this game in the end they were able to. I agree with an earlier poster that neither team look to have hit their potential yet ( hopefully we can do that in the tourney), but a great game and a great atmosphere.

I agree! Paintsville's stadium holds no where near the crowd and as long as both teams are coming into the game as highly rated as each were this past year, your going to have the same thing. I've heard that regardless of the location each school splits the gate 50-50. If thats the case, I would rather split the gate from 8000 as apposed to 3000. It a bigger paycheck for each school! But think about it......its probably never going to happen.

Any time you can hold a game and as many people attend as was at last years Apple Bowl, regardless of who wins, both schools take home a huge paycheck. I heard estimates that as many as 7000-8000 attended the game.

Some of the kids, who look like they would be great football players, who walk the halls at Johnson Central to come out and play football!

I don't remember the stats exactly, but Grimm was very close to having more rushing yards against Ashland than Blume and Johnson was right there as well. I don't see how you can say that Blume was our whole offense.

I think JC will be more balanced this year in they should be more effective throwing the ball. I don't really see us stepping back a whole lot in the running game because we return three very good backs that were effective this past year. It is definately a hit losing players the likes of Blume and Music, but we have alot of talent returning. I think the big question mark will be the D-Line where we were hit big by graduation, but other than that we will return pretty much everyone.

I think Johnson Central will be in the thick of things in 2006. Deserving of an 11-15 ranking.

For Johnson Central it would probably have to be Lawrence County. We had not beaten them in nearly 40 years and did it in impressive fashion.

How does Ashland look for next year? I know that they graduated a boat load, but what do they have returning.

I agree! Making a prediction now is alot premature. Wait till after the spring game and see how well JK Ratliff take the pressure of the starting role. The potential is there to have a very good team, but we lost alot of leadership and that means an aweful lot.

YES! They also have a senior dominated defense. They are huge, strong and pretty quick, and their offense is pretty doggone good as well with a very balance passing/rush attack.

Yes it was a barn burner! Two great football teams. Madison Southern is very good and I predicted that the winner of the Central/MS game would be in the Region Finals and I'm sticking to that!

The proof is in the numbers. Ron Blume leads the state in yards and near the top in per carry average and per game average. Plus, he's a great young man!

I agree! Facilities are is serious need of updating.

Without a doubt it Belfrys new feild. Pikevilles surface is just as nice, but when you take into account the stadium, I think Belfry wins. I've played at Putnam and been on the field at Belfry's new stadium. Putnam is nice. But Belfry's facilities are in a league of their own!

Belfry's new stadium and field is without a doubt the best in EKY.
