  1. As a result, the contest became a battle between Georgetown bound Ryan Ball at rb on the East and Georgetown bound Adam Schmitz, rb on the West. (BTW, both studs had a fantastic game and it was fun to see smash mouth football in June!) Unlike the East, who ran Ball all night - the West used multiple RB's and had a very balanced offense utilizing both Benke & Bogle at QB. West defense in the red zone was awesome! Coach Lucas did a great job getting the boys in the game and made the practices fun - the boys jelled and I know my son had a great time practicing and enjoyed the experience. He has made some great new friendships.
  2. All I'm going to say about the end of the game is it was not the West throwing cheap shots! I know nobody expected the West to win but the boys practiced hard and even changed practice times a couple days to accomodate graduations - they were sick and tired of hearing they didn't have a chance. I applaud Coach Lucas for playing the boys as an all-star team. He played everyone - unlike the East and had a balanced offense usint multiple rb's/qb's. Congrats to all the boys!
  3. current seniors - graduating in 2008
  4. Hope it's moved - graduation is the same night for the Ryle boys
  5. He has not told them not to come to weights - some of the boys have chosen not to participate. Some of the boys going to Cooper participated in Spring Ball at Ryle.
  6. information we received June 5, 7:00 at Dixie
  7. No, it will not lessen the overuse of the Ryle facilities. Anybody who has been to Union lately knows that they have continued to build and Ryle is not going to lose that many students. In fact, all the sport programs have increased their participation.
  8. Again, read previous posts - Shaun was not going to fund the entire field. He wanted the BOE to fund 1/2 which they couldn't do. Ryle went about getting this approved the right way, got the right people involved and got it done.
  9. As someone very close to the program - fundraising has always been optional. Anyone who has ever fundraised knows it would be nice for everyone to participate but you have those we won't. It is amazing to me how many parents do not understand or realize how much money goes into a program whether it be football or any other sport. Many parents assume the school pays for everything and that isn't the case. It is very expensive to outfit a football team especially when you have 110 players.
  10. In order to upgrade the locker rooms they would have had to add on to the building and we received an estimate of $350,000. The turf field will allow the band to practice on the field instead of the parking lot - baseball & softball could also use it for practice instead of the parking lot - You don't think the track can benefit by being able to hold their field events on turf instead of mud. Ryle has outgrown the fieldhouse and no I haven't been to the other locker rooms for their football programs but I know someone who has and this is their opinion.
  11. We have locker rooms down by the field that also houses all the maintenance equipment for the custodians. The main lockers do not have lockers just bins that lock. The soccer teams (boys & girls), track, cross country, softball, baseball and football all use the facilities. The weights are in the middle of the locker room. The teams do what they can but it is not a safe enviroment when you have 110 boys trying to lift weights in a very small area. Being on the facilities committee turf was our #1 need that would benefit the most students with a new fieldhouse for weights & lockers to benefit all sports as well. Believe it or not but Ryle's weight facility/locker rooms are the worse of all current Boone County schools.
  12. Yes, Kudos to Roger for getting this done! OG - while Ryle may have the richest tax base in Boone County most of those who have it don't part with it or they are sending their children to private & independent schools. Don't assume something unless you have facts.
  13. As I understand it they have started requesting bids. It should be in this season as they had till May 1 to get the funds for this year. Apparently, OG has no idea how school systems are run. I have to give it to our fundraising committee they got several sports involved in the fundraising because it will benefit many of the sports including the band.
  14. It is the same person. I have heard her granddaughter plays soccer. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  15. When Alexander was going to put turf in at Boone he was only donating 1/2 the cost and wanted the BOE to finance the rest. Anyone connected to a school district knows that the BOE could not do this without financing the cost for the other schools. I don't think he was willing to put up the money for all the schools. I have also heard and don't know if it is true but he wanted them to use a specific company to do the work and again anyone in education knows you have to bid out any work. The BOE is NOT giving any money to Ryle for this project so if the other Boone County schools want turf then they need to do it through private donations.
  16. Jared did get an offer to walk-on at WKU. Last I heard he has accepted.
  17. Adam Schmitz signed with Georgetown College today.
  18. Ryle did warmups on their field before boarding the bus - Kyle has some strained neck muscles. It was unfortunate for the injury to happen at that point in the game - we could have used him on the D. Agree he should not be playing on special teams because he is very vunerable and every player on the opposing team is gunning for him. Raiders played a great game - turnovers were the key.
  19. Ryle, Boone & Conner were told they had to schedule Cooper or forfeit the district game.
  20. Have heard they may be Cooper Bulldogs for Coop Dog
  21. [ 3. Don't put down his coaches. If you are constantly bad-mouthing your son's coaches, you are teaching him to be a loser and a complainer. This is not what you want him to become. Wish ALL parents would follow this commandment!
  22. Don't want to predict anything here - it's gut check time for some of the Raiders! They need to come ready to play and not just walk on the field.
  23. What about Adam Schmitz? He can hit - has 4 sacks so far this year, 2 forced fumbles, interception, 2 rumble recoveries and has really only played in two full games. He also starts on offense! He has to be one of the best up here.
