  1. Great game by the Jag defense, and both O & D lines. NL controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides, and their linebackers did a much better job this week as well. Far and away the best game that Ryan Brandenburg's had this season, and Sophomore Steven White had his coming out party at LB this week, making a very strong showing. I kept expecting Hubbard to get loose and break one, but it never happened. Contain was much better this week by the Jags. I look for even more improvement in the next couple of weeks by the Jags, as they should have Asher back soon. Good Luck to both teams next week, and for the remainder of the season.
  2. Congrats to SL, I admit I was wrong on this one. I thought that Corbin would run all over the SL defense. Also, congrats to Logan Baker, a great kid who has just been waiting for his chance to show what he can do on the field. Question: Does anyone think that Jewell might be feeling a little heat after this one (along with the last few)?
  3. I look for good things out of North Laurel's Adrian Wardrup, QB. He is now the starting QB, throws a nice ball, and fairly fast. Will just get better with time
  4. I think that Corbin will throttle SL.
  5. The most thoughtless, ignorant post that I've ever seen on BGP. I'm wondering why you think Asher deserves more than any other kid on this team? You are definately BGP'er that I'd love to meet some time, we could have one heck of a "discussion".
  6. IMO Johnson Central is better than Rockcastle at this point in the season.
  7. Too early to give up on either team. NL will be a better team in the upcoming weeks, as some younger players get some much needed experience, and JC was a very good team. SL has too much offensive firepower to lay down, and let their season get away from them. Look for both teams to rebound, and improve this week. I believe that NL has a much better chance of winning this week, though Western is NO slouch. As for NL's health: Bad case of Old News being overblown. The problem has been taken care of, just as Jim Schue said. NL will be at full strength on Saturday.
  8. IMO a bad example. Ohio has teams that go undefeated, and don't make the playoffs.
  9. Excellent point. This is the first time that there has ever been a problem. Up until this year, the "honor" system has worked just fine. I was told that the contract terms will be amended, and that if it ever happens again, the offender will only get half of the agreed payout. For the record: I could care less who shows up at media night, or who is cooperative with the press, I'm not in the media.
  10. All teams are expected to have representation at the media night, it is part of the CV Bowl. If you have a problem with it, don't accept the invitation to play in the bowl, plain and simple. Do you think it's only a sacrifice on JC?
  11. I thought the back up QB for Holmes (#5) did an excellent job replacing DJ in the second half. Though a little guy, IMO, he looked quicker, and appeared to be a stronger runner. I was SHOCKED when he did not recieve the Offensive MVP.
  12. Matney was a nightmare for the bowl people to work with. He was extremely uncooperative, and even skipped the media night. I'd say he refused to give a roster to the officials. I was told by a bowl organizer (not a coach or school official) that JC won't be back, and it won't be because anyone is scared of them. Matney has proved year in and year out to march to his own drum. He's the coach that refuses to traded film with other coaches as well.
  13. Not true. I'd bet that Asher was #3 in offensive yardage for NL. NL's offense will get better, and it won't just be Asher getting the ball. Asher is a great player, but if he is expected to do it all, it will be a long season. Look for more balance in the upcoming weeks.
  14. He played Madison Central when he had to, it was a district game. I believe we're talking about the scheduling of non-district opponents.
  15. Maybe Matney needs to branch out a little bit and play someone outside the mountains. If JC is all that, and he wants a tough schedule, why did he schedule with Bryan Station (1-9 in each of the last two seasons)? I'm sure Henry Clay, Madison Central, Scott County, etc. would have been more than happy to play him.
  16. If anyone wants to meet up at the game, just pm me and we'll work it out. I might be able to arrange a meet and greet with Jim Schue as well.
  17. NL has not shown much offensively in their 2 scrimmages. Look for them to open up their offense, and get things rolling. JC will be tough, as always, but I think NL will win their home opener. NL 17 JC 13
  18. I was there. Clay County looked pretty sharp. Their young QB looked great, as did their RB, and OL. I look for a good season out of the Tigers. NL looked a little rusty, missing a few tackles, and sputtering a bit on offense. I believe NL ran out of the gun all night, which is not their normal mode. NL was without key 2-way starter Shawn Asher, who should be back on Monday. A bright spot for NL was the play of QB Tommy Lawson. Tommy helped NL move the ball pretty well, making some good reads and quality throws. I was also impressed with the energy and play of NL's freshman squad. They played with a lot of heart and intensity, and were obviously excited to get to get their first taste of high school football.
  19. A 3 point home win on a 15 yard too many players on the field call is "handling NL pretty well"? Whatever.
