I'm not sure the point you're trying to make. The guys who run a 4.5 time at a combine are faster on the field than those who run a 4.8 at a combine. Some kids play faster than they can run a 40, but fast is fast no matter how you look at it.

Wright has tried to leave a few times over the years, most recently a few years ago he almost moved to Clark County. I believe he gets his pay supplemented by having a job that works more days than your average teacher.

Mercer / Harrodsburg Consolidation
Boucher replied to jrider111's topic in KY Football (High School)
I was advised that if the merger indeed happens, North Laurel will be playing Louisville Western in the Ft. Harrod Bowl. -
This shocks me, though I do think that Lincoln is a better team than their record indicates.

North Laurel 9 Williamsburg 6
Boucher replied to MountainThunder's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
I believe Williamsburg scored 3 unrearned runs in the 7th to make it a little closer. Ryan Sams picked up the win, and Senior 1st basemen Brad Mink picked up his first career HR. :dancingpa -
Ryan Sams picks up the win, coming in relief of starter Sean Evans in the top of the 5th. Game was tied until the bottom of the 5th, when Sean Evans hit a bases loaded double, scoring 3 runs. Whitley threatened in the top of the 7th, scoring 2 runs on an errant NL throw. But in the end, Sams heat was too much for Whitley. Nice combination of pitching for NL: Evans with the offspeed, and Sams closing with the heat. NL wins the 7th in a row. Good Luck this weekend Jags in the Diamond Classic!

Should be a very interesting Regional Tournament this year. I see a small handfull of teams that could win it: NL, SL, Corbin, Cumberland, Middlesboro, & Whitley County.

Bell has only played 13 games, while Whitley has played 25. I'd say that has a lot to do with the difference.

Henry Clay's Kirk Chiles Retires

IMO, the frontrunner will be Bourbon County Coach, Daniel Brown. -
While in Hazard over the weekend for baseball, I was told that Chapell resigned his Head Coaching position on Thursday, and his staff was fired on Friday. This came from a couple of Perry Central parents. They said that Chapel was young & energetic, but pretty raw and inexperienced. They also said that his record would have been much better had he been able to get more kids out to play. Numbers should not be an issue for him at SL.

North Laurel 21 OBI 8 (5 innings)
Boucher replied to MountainThunder's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
Broviaks's 3rd, and Maggard's 2nd. NL's hit a bunch more HR's already this season in comparison to the last few. -

That was an odd play. What about the OBI player scoring from 3rd to home after time was called? NL plays Hazard, Perry Central, and Powell County this weekend. -

I agree with another who said that the walk-off grand slam was a perfect ending for such an odd game. There was all sorts of odd plays in this one. As MT said, NL did get to play a lot of their younger players in this one. Good Luck to the Jags in Hazard over the weekend. -
No big suprise here. AD coaching the baseball team probably has him a bit "out of the loop".

Middlesboro vs North Laurel Cancelled
Boucher replied to 13th Analyst's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
Neither team hit the ball very well, but both pitchers struggled a bit with throwing strikes (Middlesboro's especially). M'boro was able to kill big innings 2x with double plays. -

Lucky break for Middlesboro. The rain came at exactly the right time. -
Who is going to be South Laurel's QB this year?
Boucher replied to WILDMAN's topic in KY Football (High School)
I believe that Oneal will be SL's QB this season if Bowling goes to AL. Oneal has an excellent arm, but I don't believe he's as mobile as Bowling. IMO, SL will be fine with Oneal at QB. If it indeed happens, pretty wild, imo, that a high school qb follows his coach 350 miles away to play high school football. -
I bet SL is more concerned with making it to the 13th Region tournament than winning it at this point. In baseball, ANYTHING can happen, especially in a 1 loss and out situation like the District tournament format.

Would he be eligible if he moved for "athletic" reasons?

North Laurel 5 Knott Central 3
Boucher replied to baseballmomma's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
A big HR in the 2nd inning by Ryan Howell was the difference in this one. The NL pitchers could not figure out the ump's strike zone in this game. A little inconsistency by blue, imo. NL's defense made up for it though, throwing out a couple stealing, and also 2 at the plate. I don't think Mcwhorter liked his teams efforts in this one, hopefully they'll get their focus back today against Bryan Station. KCC has an excellent baseball coach. We've played them several years in a row now, and I always come away impressed with how he coaches his team. -
I spoke to the Stuber family as well, and they told me it had no bearing on his quitting.

Congrats to Walt, not many better kids out there. Anyone want to bet that next year's Mr. Basketball also comes from South Laurel? -
North Laurel 6 Clay County 4
Boucher replied to MountainThunder's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
Great game by the Jaguars. Not close at all, until Clay scored 3 in the top of the 7th off a couple of errors and a big hit. Another good outing by starter Sean Evans, and a nice 2 run HR by DH Shawn Boroviak. NL is starting to show themselves as one of the best in the mountains, but there is a lot of baseball to go.
